Free line is my favorite way to fish for trout. Especially here in Louisiana, the trout get hit pretty hard as they are everyone’s favorite fish down here. Most people target them with live shrimp under a poppin cork or Carolina rig. I’ve found to catch bigger trout, that free lining croakers or preferably pogies gets me those bigger trout. I will free line shrimp if I can get ones that are big enough to cast with a bait caster. But I start catching more hard heads and other undesirable fish with shrimp. Also a lot of people don’t want to fool with free lining because it takes more patience and skill.

Nice video. Here's a tip for fishermen. Freeze a few bottles of water and keep them in Your cooler. Toss one or two in the livewell to keep the water cool in the summer.

Morning young man those jus right size live croakers & pinfish are gold lol I've got to find away or someone that loves to fish or jus wanting to be on the coast so I can be invited or just in for a ride. I've been stuck in the sticks of Mississippi this isn't my life style I grew up in but my wife is fighting stage 4 cancer. So the chemo treatments & chemo doctors are closer where we live now. She's a fighter but being in our late 50s it's hard to beat that cancer but we're not giving up. I thank you for sharing your fishing trips with me. Stay safe & fish on brother.

As a Long Island Bluefisherman I can tell you those 1 to 3 lbs bluestar the best eating. The bigger ones get oily but if you soak them in butter milk it will pull the oil out of them. We get trout up here too, we call them Weakfish. Will be moving to Alabama in 2025 and cant wait... Love your content Cap.

I love croakers! I live on the east coast. In the last 2 years croakers have been hard to find. We used to catch huge croakers. These last two years have been strangely scarce! Unfortunately, they aren’t revered species like reds, flounder etc so I haven’t seen any studies to explain the scarcity.
