    Great video! Love this kind of fishing. Cork with a live shrimp in the creeks and flats in the Big Bend Florida area. Reds and Trout. And redfish are great eating! Thanks for sharing!

    It's funny too bc just last weekend. Me and my old man were surf fishing for pompano. He legit looks at me and says hey bud watch my rods I'm gonna go take a leak. Wasn't 5 seconds after he turned his back fully bent over rod 19 inch pompano lol

    Nice video, man. I’m from the Destin area but I live in Crystal River area now. Lot of similar natural structure as in your videos. I’m doing alright fishing but might try some of your ideas on catching fish soon to target new species. I’m on a curado DC.

    Got poked by a sailcat in John's Pass in Treasure Island once, that was the first time I yelled MF!! in front of my mom.. Ugh.. And I was a grown adult and I was still ashamed!! LOL

    Taking catfish off the hook, I put my first two fingers under each side spike, then my thumb on its lower lip. My other hand is free to remove the hook, using a dehooker if necessary.

    Great Video! Would you consider in one of your videos teaching us the best way to clean our reels and rods and other things you use? The few times I have been able to go saltwater fishing, my equipment gets salted up and I end up having to trash some of it. Thank you in advance!

    Thanks and definitely !! My number one suggestion on saltwater gear is purchase high quality saltwater rated reels/rods and spray them down with fresh water every time! Ill make a video one day with my arsenal

    If you fish for enough years you'll get finned. The little ones with the needle sharp fins are pretty bad

    They are usually always fat boys too. If they don't have good sized ones they will usually give u extra over what u ask for bc they are a bit smaller. Good ppl there

    Never got hit by a cat but I did get absolutely wrecked by a small mouth at my local pier a while back 😂 smoked my thumb and I swear I couldn’t feel it for the next day and half 🤣still kept fishing tho gotta push thru

    Would you use your redfish rigs below the popping corks or is it better to just tie on the leader and hook?

    Nope, those are for bottom fishing and casting. The cork just needs a basic leader, hook, and split shot weight

    I will be in Florida (Clearwater) from the UK at the start of June and really want to try some fresh gulf fish. Any recommendations from what is in season and any places to go try some? I assume I won't be able to fish for my own..?

    Your best bet and advice I give to anyone, is once you arrive in town, find the local tackle shop and ask for what's biting and what you need. The good ones are always willing to help!

    Crowder E-Series Medium Heavy Fast Action. Personally though, my absolute favorite live bait/popping cork rod was the original Shimano Teramar's 7'4" Medium Power Moderate Action.

    @ 8:06 you think getting fined by a hard head catfish sting a little...lol, 😁 I get it I know you are joking. I have used that method to hold hard head's before. Here is something to ponder, Hard heads and gaft top both swim in large schools, so they inadvertently will fin each other. You know that fish snot that or slime that is on the those fish when you catch them, it is their medical protection. This sounds nasty, but if you ever get fined by a hard head, you immediately rub some of that snot in to the wound, the pain will go a way. The next thing you can do after rubbing in the fish snot is to slam down a beer or two that will help too.

    Thanks, Steve for another great fishing trip. You are very lucky to be near the gulf so that you can fish saltwater. I'm in Michigan - we have the inland seas, the Great Lakes, but it's not saltwater fishing.

    love your videos. I would like to learn about spike and bleed or (gill) them ? I like that you offer advice. I like the back country as I get sea sick if its more that 1 to 2 feet. I dont really know too many good back country fishing in Miami. I got outside sometimes when its not to rough.
