I like it too, especially good for non-native English speaker. Very good to listen to.
I've been using procreate for around 2 months now and have been SO AFRAID of learning how to do masks (it just seemed too complicated for a traditional artist like me lol). Watching this, I've realized that masks ARE LITERALLY THE PERFECT SOLUTION TO ALL OF THE PROBLEMS I'VE BEEN HAVING IN PROCREATE lmao

Okay, this is what I think I learned from the first five minutes of the video. The rest went too fast for me, so I'm just going to focus on this part since it's a brief explanation. I may be wrong, so please don't rely solely on me. Alpha lock- When you apply alpha lock to a layer, you can only draw on the parts of that layer you've already drawn on. She drew the leaf, and when she applied alpha lock, she couldn't draw outside of the leaf unless she made a new layer. Use alpha lock when you want to draw inside a layer without accidentally drawing "outside the lines" of that layer. Clipping mask- When you want to draw on a certain part of a layer, while still being confined to that shape. It uses the layer beneath it as a reference for where you're allowed to draw, but you can modify that new clipping mask layer part independently without affecting the layer beneath it. She was able to use the leaf she drew as a layer she couldn't draw outside of, but when she applied clipping mask she was now able to draw veins of the new leaf without affecting or messing up the leaf. Use clipping mask when you want to draw inside a specific layer, without affecting that specific layer and instead drawing on a new one that still uses the shape of the old one as a guide. Layer mask- A mask that can change how parts of that layer show on your picture. You can use black to hide parts of the layer. Or you can use white to reshow it. Or, use grey to make it look translucent. This mask is still a bit iffy to me, so give me grace here please. Use clipping mask when you want to hide or show (or a mixture of both by making it transparent), parts of your layer. Now, how to use it while making your art for different reasons and ways is still unbelievably confusing to me 'cause she went too fast. (Not her fault, easy mistake.) I think I'll just get used to using them through my art while I work. Hopefully, this helped anyone else who was confused.

I haven’t created any worthwhile art since I left art college over 30 years ago. Your demonstration has really inspired me. Thank you.
This is super helpful! thanks!
Your tutorials are the clearest and the most understandable ones I can find on KZread, thank you very very much!!!
This deserves some kind of KZread / Procreate award!! Thx so much.

Thank you so much! I was working without the masks and it was chaos: lots of mess to clean up and SO time consuming! Now I have to practice A LOT!
Looking great, Lisa! Keep up the good work.
There were like 2 or 3 things that happened so fast I didn’t quite get right away but this video has helped SO, SO MUCH THANK YOU I’m gonna go draw right now! ❤️
Extremely well made art video, one of the best I've seen on youtube. You deserve far more subscribers :)
Great tutorial! I'm new to Procreate and drawing on the iPad but was familiar with masks from using Photoshop for a billion years. Seeing why you would use each type of mask in Procreate was really helpful for me. I'm also so excited to see you have a daily art prompt! It's just what I needed to commit to practicing drawing every day.
That was an amazing tutorial! Thank you very much!
I've watched numerous Procreate tutorials - yours is BY FAR the easiest to understand. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial!
Thanks for the tutorial - lots of really helpful tips in here. Curious to know where you got your pencil grip from? I love it!
Love your teaching style, the paint and tape idea is brilliant. Thanks!
As a beginner, I have watched many tutorial videos but yours are really helpful i love it!!!!
Im 1.5 minutes in but I wanted to thank you for making this so diligently: editing, voice, illustrations, examples, the care that you gave to make this as much clear as possible. Thank you :) this is how I'd want to present a work.
Great detail explanations thanks. Also love the work you put into editing and everything.
The best way for me to get the hang of layers is to follow along. Explaining as you go really helps me. Showing us how to backtrack and change things really helped. Thank you so much.
Wow, first video among hundreds that i have watch that actually explain in a simple and proper way to use the layers and mask....Thank you
Been using Procreate for 3 years. This is one of the most concise tutorials I have seen. Then I went to your website and found so many resources. Excellent.....well done....and your teaching and presentation skills are spot on.
FINALLY found a tutorial that explains the different mask techniques. Thank yououououou 🙌
I was trying to understand this since long. After watching 50% or definition part I understood what is what. A BIG thank you .
Thank you so much for sharing this... I couldn't find anything on using Masks on Procreate this really helped me to understand the different ways to use the masks
Bardot you have stolen my heart, great videos!!!
you are so clear and concise. Refreshing. The instruction is great Thanks
Thank you so much, I love the video style - how actual paint and tape was used to illustrate what masking meant. It helped me as a student to understand so many things not just procreate but mask in photoshop too. Thank you so much for this I'm subbing
Fantastic! Thank you for the clear tutorial about masks. I was always wondering what they were and how to use them. this helped me a lot.
Great vid! Actually very helpful for any art software that uses masks, to understand when and how to use which kind of masks (since they're implemented pretty similarly everywhere) . Also, really making me want an IPad :) On a side note: great production value on the vid itself--really appreciated (not naming names, but some vids with some pretty annoying music, weird cuts, bad humor, etc.) Thanks for keeping a nice low-key vibe on this!
Thank you for helping me out with procreate. It can get very confusing and overwhelming but watching your tutorials has helped a ton.
Thank you so much for these tutorials! They are gold and easy to follow ❤
This was so informative, thank you! I'm new to digital art and all I remembered was the alpha mask and couldn't figure out how to get it to work. Now I realize I need the clipping mask instead! I like your brushes too, I'll check your website out to look at them.
Your videos are so informative, and so much fun to watch. This explanation of masks transcends Procreate - it's a great way to better understand masks in whatever app you are using. Keep em coming
This is the best tutorial ever! Some people go on and on and you have to skip to the middle of the video, but this tells u everything u need to know without unnecessary chatter. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for making this I’m new to procreate and this helps a lot just what I needed. Love your brushes! I’ll be slowly collecting them.
This is amazing! I can’t tell you how happy I am that these videos exist. So straightforward, easy to remember, and well edited
Great job explaining thoroughly without losing my attention!
I’ve watched a LOT of mask videos, and this is by far the best explanation. Great video

This was so helpful! Clearly explained and easy to follow. Thank you!
I’m excited to try all of these various masking layers now. I just gotta say, that is a super cool pencil cover. I didn’t even realize it was there until the end. So used to see a “pencil” in someone’s hand that my brain didn’t pick up on it.
I love the way you teach. It helps with the analogies
I have been spending hours a day learning Procreate and your channel is the one I’ve used most. Very easy and simple guide to follow. Excellent!
I have never owned an apple device, but watching these really make me want one. I am completely addicted to watching your videos. #PositiveEnergyAllAround

It really is a game changer. I always wanted a cintique and a better computer. After using an intous in Photoshop for years I took the dive and grabbed a pro with the apple pencil. Absolutely amazing. Procreate is also about to drop a huge update, it is only getting better! As far as digital painting goes, it's really fantastic in my opinion. It's also incredible for recording and making music. Really really happy I dropped the money for a 12 inch and Procreate. I'd also like to add that Procreate is a one time purchase! Lastly, Adobe is going to be releasing a dedicated painting and drawing app, as well as Photoshop for iPad this year. Combine that with iOS 13 rekeasin in a couple days and one can have a huge arsenal at their disposal.

This was wonderfully helpful, thank you!! I very much like how you showed how to use it in an art piece, made more sense to me. Thank you for your clear explanations. I am new to Procreate, have taken several online courses already, but this video made the most sense of masks to me. Yea!
Aaaaamazing. You just blew my mind. New to Procreate and I have been so confused about masks... thank you!

Bardot, your videos really are of great help. Everything is simple and digestible. I just bought Procreate a few days ago and they make me so motivated to get my hands ‘dirty’.
awesome tutorial. to the point, clear and great production value!
So I've been using Alpha Lock, but never knew how to use clipping masks...I'm. Blown. Away. It makes digital coloring SO MUCH EASIER! Thank you!!
Thank you... I had no idea that selecting a layer, opening a new one, turning that into a mask creates a mask based on the previous selected layer! WHAT!? Game changer!!!!!
I recently discovered your channel and I completely appreciate your teaching skills. I draw traditionally and use photoshop to draw digitally some time. But I really wanted to learn procreate and I am happy I found your channel and I am ready to learn. Thanks 💗😍
Very helpful thank you so much ! I don’t find a lot of tutorials as clear as yours so ty!
Very helpful! However, I think I will still need to watch it multiple times!
Thank you so much for all of your tutorials. I am learning so much
you are the absolute best! i have been trying to look for good tutorials for a year and this is BY FAR the best one. thank you so much!
Great explanation of using masks in Procreate. I've only used clipping masks, but you're right - you do run out of layers if you use a lot of clipping masks/layers.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been using Procreate for a little while now, but I am still not good with it. This video made me a little less scared to just have fun and not be too worried about making everything perfect right away. Also, your websites for ideas are just wonderful and are exactly what I've been needing!
Her videos are so helpful and amazing! And her style is so cute!!
Amazing tutorial! Congrats!!
Wow, this was an amazing tutorial!. Thank you.
You are amazing! Thank you so much for this video! I am new to Procreate, and you just clarified something that I found confusing. xoxoxo
I’m so glad I found your videos. Big help.
This is the clearest explanation of masks I've found, fantastic
You.. are ... amazing! Thank you so much! I'm getting into digital illustration and you've been a HUGE mentor for me. Also, I moved cross country and left my watercolors behind, so I'm excited to buy your watercolor brushes for Procreate!! Thank you! ❤
Wow. You explained it SO clearly. Love the examples and real life comparison with the tape and paint.
The best explanation EVEEEEEEEEERRRR! Thanks a lot, my dear! 😘😘😘😘
Your tutorials are exactly what I have been looking for as a noob! Thank you and please don't stop making them!! :) Once I get a little better I'm going to buy your brush/paper master set! I hope to start with the make art every day prompts very soon. Thanks again for all your hard work! :)
I gotta say I've seen a handful of videos about masks, and by far this is one of the detailed ones. I love how you started on a blank canvas, and used the fiddle leaf plant as an example, and most importantly, you walked us thru your thought process because that is really helpful. Tho I need to keep re watching it and maybe slow down coz it was a lot of info to take in. I just started using Procreate last week and I got it for school, I wanna learn to use it for Fashion Design and this tutorial really is helpful. Thank you. New Subscriber here.
The beauty of videos like these is that you can appreciate it more the more you watch it
Oh wow I’m gonna make use of your art everyday website! Thank you!
never mastered the masking function until i watched this! You’re a star! Subscribed!
I now need to try this out, I will start with simple leave. I have learnt so much for today...thank-you so much!
This is amazing and so helpful!! New subscriber 😊
I’m gonna have to watch this a dozen times before I learn about masks, sooooo much to learn, soooo complex!
Thanks for this video. I have been struggling with masks in Procreate and this is helpful. I will need to watch it a few time to really get the hang of it, but your explanations are very helpful and I believe with practice I will be able to master this very great set of tools.
First 5 minutes summed up what I was confused about in Procreate (I'm use to using photoshop & adjusting). Thank you for clearing that up succinctly!
Awesome explanation thank you for your effort👏🏻👏🏻
Loved your tutorial! Just what i needed! And it’s really great that you created an illustration from beginning to end applying what you just taught! Thx 🥰
This video is super useful! Thank you so much 🙏!
