Usher: Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, ‘COMING HOME’ & Legacy | Apple Music

Музыка

Over a 30-year career, Usher has progressed from humble beginnings to the world's biggest stage-performing at the Apple Music Halftime Show at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
Usher invites Zane Lowe to his rehearsal space in Las Vegas ahead of Halftime, where he focuses on bettering his mind, voice, and body. Zane gets a behind-the-scenes look at the setup, equipped with a portable recording studio, a jacuzzi, and more to help Usher be the best he can be. Usher also shares his experiences with Michael Jackson, Prince, and James Brown. Usher also looks back at his discography and dives into his latest album ‘COMING HOME’ as he works to cement a legacy that will survive the past, present, and future.

Can I just say how AWESOME this interview is? Usher is so insightful and you can tell he listened to the wisdom of those around hi and takes his artists craft SERIOUSLY. It's not just talk like some these singers out here. He treats his gift with respect.

Just phenomenal. I've never been happy for an artist in the way that I am for Usher. I was 5 when he was 15 and just coming onto the scene. I remember looking up to him as this cool, charismatic teenager that all the older girls seemed to love lol. Ten years later when I was 15 myself, realized I had become one of those screaming girls at a Truth Tour concert in 2004. It's been special growing up with you, Usher! Can't wait to see what you do next!

Usher created a musical legacy that will last for generations to come. I am 46 years young & will be 47. His musical performance at the Super Bowl LXVIII brought me back to when I was 19 years old trying to learn to dance 💃🏽 to his music. I can only shake my hips now but his music is nostalgic that brings joy 🥹 & inspiration. He’s definitely in the realm of Iconic status. God will continue bless Usher in all that he does. 🙋🏾‍♀️😇👸🏾😁💞💞💞🎸🎶💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🎊💫

As much as I would love to watch everyday of the hundred day tour, I have to catch up on my goals and close the gap left behind. I am a true fan of your music and talents and must get busy and persistent if I want to turn my life around and to tell how much I am inspired by your hard work. Oh yes, you just made the super bowl, super super super great. I love music very much although I am not great at singing, I guess I will be deceiving myself if I want to pursue that singing journey at this age and this time of my life. Although that could be my luck for the turning point of my life. Super bowl or not you have been great and well recognized for your phenomenal and artistic work. Love and peace. Your true fan.😅😂❤❤❤

I never liked his interviews. He always seems so preachy.

As an Usher music fan this is a little sad. He's trying too hard and I don't understand why. Trying to sound informed on black history, trying to sound like he understands the industry, trying to sound like he's a genius. It's not him. He's the OG plant with the voice and the moves and we're okay with it. In fact we don't expect anything else just be yourself. Zane is the kind of interview that looks at the world with more perspective and depth. Usher can't go there because he doesn't see anything beyond the world he's built for himself. Zane asks about music, Usher talks about a hit record. Usher mentions "Hit record at 40" so much it's surprisingly insecure and very narrow. You have kids. You have a great career. You reinvented the Las Vegas show. Usher is trying too hard and it's surprising because he doesn't need to. He lacks the creative depth to produce at a high level on his own and this album tells me he needs better writers and musicians around him in order to inspire that 1 of 1 energy. As a performer he's impeccable, not a fault even when he falls it's smooth. "Independent" is not what you are when you've got LA Reid and Babyface who have successfully run an iconic label for decades. Relax, that's not you and it's okay. Just make the music. Sit with the musicians and make the music, I know there's a smooth jazzy, RnB album in there but he's gone for a "hit" pop sound with all the big sounds the world is into rn and it's such a "try hard" move. Usher you're trying too hard. Maybe a little more vulnerability would be nice BUT Just be yourself, the rest will come. If you're just a fan you'll sound like a fan, be the artist, go and create...

This is such a WEIRD thing to type. You say you're "a fan" but called him the "OG plant" in one sentence. HOW was Usher an industry plant? That term has become so overused that it's lost it's meaning. He started off in talent shows, was in a mini group, got discovered, went through artist development and got signed. This is the story of SO MANY stars from his era back in the day so what are you talking about? Is every successful pop star whose label marketed them well an industry plant? He's also been in the business for 30 years. SURELY, he would have some sort of understanding of the business AND as it pertains to Black artists/history. It's funny how when people speak with purpose and articulate themselves well, they are seen as "trying too hard". The album doesn't appeal to you, fine. We all have opinions but chalking up a very insightful interview about his life, career, what he learned from legends and how at peace he is in life to "he's trying hard to sound smart" is shallow. I also think he mentioned NOT needing to have a hit record to dictate his importance in the business because no matter how you slice or dice it, that is what the industry is built on. As an artist that was once signed to a major and now is now doing things on his own (he literally left RCA), what else is he supposed to call himself? Mary is independent and so is Jennifer Lopez. They are big names, but still independent artists in 2024. Your post, while raising some points, reads as kinda spiteful tbh.
