Used Viper - Is it a Viper PolyMod? Conclusion

After doing a few more test and following some of your comment suggestions it appears the arm in this chassis is not the greatest.

there is a possibility your friends arm has a finer wire size than yours. you can get the same 2.5 ohms on any size wire but a 33gauge wind will be stronger than a35 gauge. But then again this is a USED car. Who knows how it was treated before your friend bought it. I really enjoy your videos! Keep em rolling!

MSCG.. good one,hay I'm getting on the independent front end train. I just got the Delrin hard plastic ones off hardened Creek. Plastics lighter than aluminum. CK,I'm gonna set up a few Tyco's to keep around for fish tailing fun all stock but with long pin, delrin O-ring front end and taking out the traction magnets. The long pin and front end will hopefully keep it on the track🥸

all may not be lost on this arm. this is only a suggestion your friend would have to make the call you could soak the arm in 99 percent isopropyl alcohol for a good half hour agitating periodically see if any oil of discoloration comes out of this procedure. if so you have gotten contamination deep down in the windings. let it air dry for a good hour. next would be to coat the windings with MG Chemicals 419D acrylic conformal coating. this can best be done with a very small paint brush for modeling the conformal coating is basically going to give the windings a recoat of conformal coating it is very this viscosity so dabbing new conformal coating on the winding in even coats will let it soak down in to the windings.

.I like your concept. where can you find this coating? I have a couple tired arms myself

Interesting, I will mention it to my friend. Me personally I would just get a new arm, not knowing the history of the arm is what concerns me, would rather start with a new arm.
