I am not sure I ever figured out where this video's title of did it loose 50% ever came about in this video or example. Maybe 15-18% at the most was all that would have been lost, not counting any taxes or tags.

Like you said wax coating is annoying. Even dries up and flakes off. Ive found just using a can of oil based rustoleum with a brush before winter for touch ups underneath works good.

Never buy used new trucks. There’s most of the time a reason it’s traded in so early and it has chance of being a lemon. Order a brand new one how you want it best way to do it.

I’m always a little leery of buying a used vehicle with that low of miles after especially after a short ownership from the original owner. It probably has some kind of issue. But who knows. I’d say the dealer has somewhere around 75-78k in the truck. The original owner probably was able to get supplier pricing or something close to that. So they probably paid 84k or so for it. I’d say they did ok considering they only had it for 5 months.

Not necessarily. There's a decent chance I will be trading in my Lariat for a Platinum next month. I ordered both at the same time but the Lariat was done at the end of December and the Platinum is taking quite a bit longer. I picked up the Lariat because 1) my trade-in was only going to drop in value and I got a pretty solid offer and 2) The dealership I ordered the Platinum from may not hit the number I'm looking for, and/or who knows what I would have gotten for my trade in at that point. Nothing at all wrong with my truck but with it being only 3 months old with less than 3K miles by the time my Platinum comes, I may be able to get it for roughly the same overall difference between what I would have likely gotten for my trade at this point, and what I can get for my Lariat.

@@SliderFury1 I’m sure that’s possible but I would think you ultimately end up losing money doing stuff like that. I’m sure your other trucks trade value would be less after 5 or 6 months but I doubt it would drop as much as you would potentially lose on the brand new truck you just bought 5 or 6 months ago. Each deal is unique though. In 2020 and a lot of 2021 you could make money on HD trucks. That’s not the norm though.

@@matthewanderson9912wasn't about the value drop, it was about the offer. Basically , if I waited till my Platinum came in and traded my Ram 1500 to that dealer, the cash gap between that and the Platinum would have been roughly the same as it is between my Lariat's current trade value and the Platinum + what I spent on the gap between my trade and the Lariat. That's just how high the offer on my Ram was from this dealership. So, it's a win win for me. I have a Lariat for a pretty good price that, if the dealership I ordered the Platinum from gives me a good offer on, will give me a Platinum for about the same amount it would have cost me to trade my Ram to them. If they don't give me a good trade offer for my Lariat, I still have a Lariat, instead of having to wait 5-6 months, hope the Platinum doesn't get delayed or there's another strike or something (there almost was one a couple weeks ago at the Kentucky plant) and hope my Ram's trade in didn't drop off another cliff, and then I have no new HD truck.

Pre-pandemic the normal rule of thumb was 50% original MSRP after 3 years for a domestic truck. Things were crazy during the last couple of years and should not be considered “normal” in any way.

I just got my 2024 Chevy High Country with the upgraded towing package. Got a good discount and I drove it home and will not drive it again until I take it to get the undercoating and film on the bumper, hood and headlights. I did add the extended warranty 10 yr B-B. Upgrading from my 2003 F250 Diesel with 72K. I definitely hate the coating they use and chose to get the undercoating.

Nice Clickbait phrase of a title question. I value this truck at least -17% from MSRP which would bring it to 73,000. It’s dealer greed and shenanigans price rip off at $81k that these stealers are asking. I would buy this at $63k. Tops. Cya in June, lol…

Not that bad. Buy it new keep for 5 years and 200k miles of use make hundreds of thousands of dollars working with it. Great investments. I keep trucks forever and just park them in my field if I’m done with them but most people probably keep atleast 3-5 years so it’s not bad.

GMC and Chevrolet trucks come in last for interior design. RAM rules in this area and is more like a luxury branded car. This truck is a repossession, or had major mechanical failures.

No lag due to 12" ring gear? Wtf are you smoking! Same rear axle ratio on every duramax. 2500, 3500, max trailer, whatever...no difference. More than likely this was driven with some aggression and the adaptive logic learned to provide immediate torque. It may also be holding the lower gear longer. In any case, the 12" ring gear has nothing to do with it! Also, the $7k discount from msrp is 8%, not "less than 6%". If you're going to do math on camera, maybe practice math off camera. In my area pretty much anyone can get an employee or supplier discount of some sort. Not uncommon to buy a truck with 10% off msrp PLUS any incentives. Its quite likely that the original buyer came very close to break even on a trade, except for the impact of sales taxes. Probably cost him 2-3k to own the truck for 6 months.
