I love it! I have one of these arms that I use mounted on a tripod behind the camera. I’d never thought to use the cold shoe mount.

They really are SO GOOD! The only downside is that they’re a little heavy and thick compared to some others so they aren’t always the best fit for every situation. But I’m splitting hairs there

Ill be honest, as a photographer who watches lots of photography-inspired videos, I've kinda been conditioned to tune out the part of the video where someone starts talking about squarespace or some vpn or whatever. so I was sort of prepared to do that when you began to talk about track club. but, HOLY CRAP, man! that seriously looks flippin awesome. i wasn't even in the market or even thinking about audio necessarily, but it really sounds legit-especially with the mixing/customization capabilities. checking it out mos def.

Same concept except in that case the friction arm was attached to the tripod mount screw on the bottom of the camera and put out front facing back. My hand that is “focusing” is covering the friction arm so you can’t see it.
Is there any chance of getting the coldshoe mount damage in long term usage?
Great video I love the Blackmagic app but am struggling with the app always saying there is only 3 minutes of storage available. Do I need a cloud account for longer record times?

Friction arm was attached to the tripod mount spot on the x100vi
What about the clip in the preview that was shot facing the lens of the camera?

The magic arm is probably attached to the 1/4 20 mount on the bottom of the camera so you can’t see it then pointed towards the camera from the front.
