    I used to be vegan believing that meat was the cause of my high cholesterol until I visited my Dr and my cholesterol was still high after giving up meat for 8 months. As a vegan, I was still consuming processed food, so I eliminated sugar and oil from my diet. Then I transitioned to a whole food plant based OMAD lifestyle. Now I have transitioned to a whole food plant focused diet where I supplement with sardines 2-3x weekly, still OMAD. I have so much energy, people cannot believe my age, they swear I am at least 10 years younger and my mental clarity is on fleek! I now believe it is the animals being fed processed food and the over consumption of this ultra processed protein in addition to the processed foods that people are overly consuming that is the real problem for the health crisis that currently exists.

    Dr. G! I've been looking everywhere for information about something, and I can't find anything relevant to my question. Could you perhaps tell us in a future Q&A session about the mechanism by which food affects blood pressure? Google can't answer my question, I just keep getting results for "foods that lower blood pressure!" and an explanation of how digestion affects blood pressure. I specifically want to know HOW, MECHANICALLY, certain foods increase blood pressure. What is it about certain foods that increases blood pressure? I've recently been made aware of my blood pressure issues and, while I'm chugging along very well following both yours and Dr. Longo's advice, I find that I do very well when I understand the mechanisms by which things work. If you've already explained this, may I ask where I might find it? Thank you for any help, and thank you for everything you've done for me so far.

    Dr. Gundry, various herbs and spices have been used by numerous different cultures for a long time. Ones like ginger or turmeric have gained a reputation for having many health benefits. Have you looked into which herbs and spices may have high lectin contents that should be avoided? Are lectins still present in dry powders? Thanks and love the podcast!

    This is what Natasha Campbell McBride, the inventor of the GAPS diet, has been saying for years: the vegan diet is a fasting diet. It is catabolic. Animal foods are anabolic. She has a great book on that particular subject.

Also, I feel week and tired a good part of the time even though I have MCT oil in the morning and between meals. Could this be temporary? I have been doing the program for almost 3 weeks. Thank you!

    Dr. Gundry what am I doing wrong??? My A1C was 8.2 three months ago. My sugars were 300 at night and 200's in the a.m. I totally changed my diet, eating tons of veggies, no dairy, nuts, seeds, grass fed meat. Added supplements. I eat breakfast at 10 now, trying to follow your guidelines. My inflammation marker was 11 a year ago! Now last 3 months my sugars down, 107 to 155 in the mornings, 140's to 190's at night. Had to drop my insulin in 1/2 so not to have so many low sugars. My A1C today 8.5, makes no sense at all 🙁

  • @gazelleSharmahd

    @gazelleSharmahd

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’m not a doctor but just in case if he doesn’t answer maybe my answer can help you. A1C is just a number that tells you the average of your blood sugar readings over a 120 day period. A1C of 8.2 means your average BS were 189. A1C of 8.5 means your average BS were 197. So both of these are about 200. And you think why has it not improved? Diabetics who are needing to take insulin have very fluctuating ranges, even more than what you measure, you may even go hypoglycemic during sleep and don’t know. So let’s say you BS readings during one day go as high as 300, then 200 in the evening and even close to 100 when you sleep. The average of these 3 readings is 200. But you can also have BS in the range of 200, 220, and 180. The average of these three is also 200. You see that your A1C blood sugar average of 200 does not tell you anything about how high and low your sugars are. Cortisol from stress could be causing a high BS spike in the morning but your other BS readings are much lower, but your average still comes out to 200. My advice: forget about a useless number like A1C. Focus on getting off of your insulin, which you are already reducing so much. Reducing the amount of insulin you need to Inject shows that you are doing absolutely everything right. And once you are off of it start measuring your fasting insulin to see how metabolically flexible you are.

    I believe that both glyphosate and unrefined/unfermented grains damage the gut lining. In Europe, we have eaten refined grains that were not sprayed with glyphosate for a very long time. Noone I know had or has gut issues like us here in the US.

    Skipping breakfast is not a good idea, I don't care what they say. I can list you several reasons why you shouldn't do that. Just eat healthy in every meal, sleep 8 hours every night and exercise regularly. Fasting once in awhile for a day or so might be good for you.

    Fasting is good, but not eating meat is not a great advice. You have to eat both meat and vegetables to get all the essential nutrients. You can get protein from plants, but they are not complete protein
