Question about the video snippet: is this about material wants/desires or *all* wants/desires?

"In Buddhism, attachment is called upādāna, which means grasping or clinging. It refers to the human tendency to cling to people, things, or ideas in the mistaken belief that they will bring us lasting happiness and fulfillment. Attachment arises from our desire to feel secure, comfortable, and control of our lives." You can do more reading on attachment in Buddhism to learn more about this word, which he's using as shorthand here!

"The essence of humanity is desire." (Spinoza) If so, to lack all desire is to be dead. Which is not on my bucket list or reverse bucket list.

Hello Tim Ferris--haha--you are so young and don't realize a bucket list or a reverse bucket list are very limiting. I don't have a bucket list at all--if you want to be surprised by life--just be open minded and say yes to chance--but stick with your husband or wife and family and try to laugh and have fun no matter what happens. Just say yes to adventure that knocks at your door--even if its nothing you have thought about. And don't let people keep trying to shame you into ridding your life of your fears. I hate to fly & for years my family made fun of this fear & pushed me to address this anxiety. And they are all snobbish about their travel adventures--Well guess what--I have been blessed with non air travel all around the world (usually not to the popular places) by boat, train, taxi, car, bike) to all kinds of places and adventures-just by chance and adventure. There are lots of places I haven't been--but then I've been places you have never been and met folks you have never met and played music in places you probably never even knew existed--all by not flying :). Best of luck--don't focus on a bucket list--just take what comes up and you may be surprised.

What a brilliant concept, using a reverse bucket list, and it's such a refreshing way to appreciate and reflect on the incredible experiences and achievements we've already had in life. Really appreciates this insightful perspective, thank youu.

The video is engaging, and I especially appreciate the candor and honesty. It is refreshing to hear someone talk about the pitfalls of pursuing a traditional bucket list and the benefits of instead creating a reverse bucket list. Great video!

This is a great question @dotpenji. For me, Reflecting on my past accomplishments has greatly enriched my sense of happiness as I've aged, serving as a reminder of all the incredible experiences I've had and providing the motivation to set new, exciting goals for the future - it's like a continuous cycle of gratitude and inspiration!

I had to watch this three times to realize he was talking about material wants and not the fulfillment of personal ambitions. Most of us dont struggle with the "I'll put the lamborghini on the attachment list" type of problem.

It certainly sounds like that's what he's talking about. I don't think there's one item that I want to own on my bucket list. They're all experiences. I guess your list is different when you're rich and you've already had the money to experience everything you want

This is for lazy normies that once were consumers and try to detach from their consumer-normie- desires. There are bigger desires and dreams to chase which you don’t need to erase from your bucket list only because you’re too poor.
