Good Job Arthi and Prem. I am more likely to add 529 in the future. I heard HRA is not possible unless your health plan has high deductible. I also heard from my tax consultant this year that if you own a foreign property (in India) and pay more mortgage than rental income there then it can be shown as an expense to get US Tax deductions. It saved me a good amount which I didn't know until this year.

Prem, your 529 plan suggestion is not accurate. Not all state gives you tax break. For example if you are in CA there is no tax break. The benefit of 529 is growth is not taxable. So, 529.may not be beneficial for everyone.

Yes bro .. i said most of the states are given tax exemption not all The earnings are not taxable would be the good things too.. say if I invest 5000$ in a shares or options or mutual fund after 10 years when my children started college the earnings would be more and its the non taxable say if its would be 15k i don’t want to pay tax for 10k... that would be great ...

@@ArthiPrem Just be careful, folks are happy when they gain money. If they find they lose it, that's when the ugly side shows up. Just warn everyone that you are not a financial planner or tax advisor and this is simply a reflection of your understanding of current tax rules. And anyone should do their due-diligence before making a financial decision. You may want to put it in writing in your comment section as well. Just protect yourself.
