Why can't a world's number one in technology and military force the landing of a "Balloon". After landing the US can strip and study it before returning it back to China? By shoting it down the US had set a precedent. China will reserve the right to take down any foreign object violating her territories which includes SCS.

The balloon was over 7,233 miles from China. They didn’t notice that it was “off course” until it was hovering over US military bases🤨

Or they just wanted the missile to hit the balloon. Contrary to popular belief, it takes time to turn. The pilot kept going straight because he would have pulled an unnecessary amount of Gs to go any other direction after firing the missile. The only time you would do that is if you’re in a combat situation so unless the balloon is shooting back, there’s no need to potentially injure the pilot or damage the aircraft

Give that pilot a medal of valor, this is hardiest target ever, even a radar cannot detect them 😅

If no major air combat assignment the F-22 will be remembered as balloon hunter

The balloon changed direction multiple times against the air stream and was able to slow down against the wind. It had slight ability to navigate and was found hovering over multiple military bases including Fort Bragg North Carolina.

Sensor packages work better in atmosphere than on satellites just due to range. The possibility of looking at underground facilities is very real with new developed technologies. The balloon could also be waiting to scan the aircraft sent to shoot it and gather electronic information on the missile and sensor package of the f-22... I'm just guessing of course but it's interesting.

I hope you are aware that the exact same thing can be truthfully said about american companies? Since europe enacted its GDPR which is far-reaching but still insufficient by data security experts, all those firms active on both sides of the atlantic have to warn their customers that since they run servers on the US side, they cannot guarantee privatcy since US governemental bodies reserve a lot of intrusion rights. If you use YT, FB, Apple or mircrosoft products your data is about as safe from the US governement as TikTok-data is from the chinese one.

@@robharris8844U i don't think, because look when we talk about china, china always describe itself is "world power, economy power" by testing new hypersonic missile,air defence system,fighter jets.. China shows that it has equivalent air defence system and missile like USA has... I am confident that china will not reply in near future but "china will definitely reply may be in a month or more but china will definitely reply"... USA and QUAD should be prepare for it.

China always does something like this when there is supposed talk between India and China over border issue, they have flown fighter jets near the border or moved their military, or sometimes even trespassing the border and going back. It's just like they don't want to talk.

That was my question but this was an X model and apparently its seeker is extremely sensitive to heat. The old Vietnam era sidewinders wouldnt be able to lock on but this model can.

Sidewinders don't have active or passive radar, its all about the heat sensitivity of the seeker.
