The amount of virtue signaling from the senators. They are equally as guilty when they can pass laws that allow for easier prosecution of online criminals. They are projecting all the blame on the companies instead of working with them

The fact that a senator keeps on asking ‘who did you fire’… As if that’s the solution to all. This is the reason why workers fear accountability and proceed to lying. It prevents workers and workplaces from self learning and self criticism. Nothing is going to change as it is not 1 person being responsible for what’s happening within large organisations/companies like these. This line of questioning shows exactly how simple minded, and superficial the thought processes of the senator were. How do all of these representatives land on those seats??!!! Where is the critical thinking and ability to assess the validity of information???

What got me was how he conflated not firing anyone (or at least not telling the world that someone was fired) with 'doing nothing' as though the solution to the problem would be resolved with a single person losing their job. Ok, so someone was fired, what then? Because following his (incredibly tenuous) logic, once a person was fired over it, the thing that needed to be done had been done. A bizarre thought process to my mind, that refuses entirely to acknowledge that however simple the problem is, the solution is inevitably going to be complex, multifaceted, and necessarily collaborative

Its a corruption issue. It went over your head. WHen they ask who did you fire, its because they know the top heads are all in cahoots. They arent talking about desk workers like you both seem to imply. These would be ranking board members that get disciplined. You guys need to spebd more time learning these nuances or keep self harming with false diagnosis

Its intresting to me because if one of those senators where in any of the CEOs jobs for a month, they would be voted to be retired of duty... They lack such an understanding of how these social media platforms work, yet have the gaw to criticize them. Its really as simple as the following: If someone doesn't comprehend how a product works, they should not be allowed to make laws over it. If someone doesn't comprehend how a product works, they should not be in charge of making decisions for it. If someone doesn't comprehend how a product works, they should not be using it. If the information on how a product works isn't public, then that product shouldn't be in the public.

Probably only has one team of programmers working on the latest software update to help with fixing the problem. But if you go off her point of view, you're supposed to fire them for not working fast enough on the problem. Not to mention that they're probably the only programmers that have any idea on how to go about it. We already know that that type of content doesn't do anything but cause problems for the platform. The CEO"s would love nothing better than finding a way to remove anything negative from their platforms.

I'm frustrated as well. I felt the senators were on a stage in front of parents and victims and were putting on quite a show. Bullying at times. I'm a teacher and parent and I'm for the children. We conduct Socrator Seminar in the classroom and we emphasize dialogue vs debate in understanding and awareness of issues. Very minimal dialogue occurred here and not much was accomplished here except for more awareness as a parent for me of the dangers of social media for my 12, 11, and 5 year old. I'm ultimately responsible as a parent because not much will be resolved here anytime soon. Prayers and thoughts for all the families and victims.

In this situation, both the senators and the social media platforms are ACUTELY aware of the dangers of their platforms. How do you have dialog with someone who sat in that very chair 5 years ago, proclaiming the same thing he says today? Why does it take whistleblowers for us to find out the planned targeting and damage that is being done to our children? There is no need for debate. It needs to stop and unfortunately, the only way it will stop imo is when the consumer walks away from it. Period.

“Two people, Monologuing at the same time”. What a great phrase. I’m stealing that one. I see or actually hear this often. In politics, it’s happening a lot.

It's by design. These people are there because it's a televised show and they get 50 million eyeballs for free. Senators don't want to talk to Zuckeeberg. Zuckerberg doesn't want to talk to senators. Both parties want to talk at the people on the other side of the TV screen. You and me. And so yea, they just monologue over each other. This happens at all senate hearings since the 60s or 70s. People should have gotten used to it by now.

Senators don't have any questions. They just want to testify in front of cameras as if they are "tough on tech" and then go check their phones to see of they are trending. My heart breaks for anyone who has lost a child. Where is the responsibility of the parents? Is congress supposed to raise our kids? Maybe monitor your children. Don't allow things you find detrimental to your children's emotional health.

Asking someone a question, then interrupting their answer with your version of what you think they'll answer is a sure fire way of infuriating everyone and getting nothing accomplished

The senate missed some really good opportunities to dive into how to actually solve the issue. Their grandstanding to families that have lost loved ones to online abuse cost them any real chance of improving industry standards. Senators so focused on pointing fingers and gaining rage-filled sound bites for their constituents.

Do you think many of the senators know that some of us can see right through their intended virtue signaling and showponying and will try and change their approach or continue with their rhetoric because most other people here oi noticed were impulsively echoing what the senators were saying ie something must be done to ix. i then asked a few people here when asking well how would you like to resolve it then no answer whatsoever. Most people are robots so unfortunately the senators will continue to showpony because most people aren't awake like you and me.

No, didn’t miss that at all. I was commenting on the efficacy of their questioning not whether they were justified in any frustration they may have felt. Senators who kept cool and asked well-researched, specific questions got better answers and made Zuckerberg much less confident in his replies than the finger pointing, grandstanding crowd.

Its so aggravating that they wouldn't even let him finish one sentence before interrupting. He may have even given them the answer they wanted in a round about way if would just let him speak.

Nothing Zuckerberg has to say would even appease any parent that has lost their child due to online bullying. When my daughter was 8 years old a local 12 year old girl committed suicide because of online bullying. Maddie would have been 20 years old today and having a beautiful life. Maddie was the kind of girl that was sweet, accepting of everyone, helpful, loving. She was a gorgeous girl inside and out. Because of the cruelty of other 12 year olds who would mentally torture Maddie daily at school, while riding the bus and then would tell her to kill herself through the social media and posting unflattering pictures and videos of her. She’s gone and the other 12 year olds cruel little girls go on to live to be 20 and most likely not even accepting their fault in this horrific situation. Maddie’s loss was everyone’s loss.

@@jagilo967712 year old girls have been bullying other girls long before social media. I was one of those who was bullied around that age. It took me decades to overcome it, and some of the emotional scars are still there. Zuckerberg is not responsible for the action of all 12 year old mean girls everywhere. He IS responsible for the ways in which his platform has amplified and worsened the problem, especially to the degree that he has fomented division and strife in a quest for more profit. He interfered in our election in 2016 by screwing with the algorithms around what got shown to whom (I don’t have links to hand, but this has been demonstrated.) He is not innocent of wrongdoing. And at the same time, Spidey is correct that the way these hearings went down - based on the clips he showed us today - *was not helpful* in resolving the problem. It’s quite possible that Zuckerberg is correct that they are the “industry leader” in dealing with these issues, and that their efforts simply aren’t enough … because the problem isn’t limited to online fora and algorithms. The problem is BULLYING and we need to address it in person in schools and homes and at very young ages. In fact I might even contend that the senator at the end who was refusing to let him even answer her questions was demonstrating that very bullying tactic herself! We aren’t going to make progress until and unless we as humans learn how to empathize and express empathy to each other OFF social media as well as on. What happened to the 12 year old you mentioned is tragic. It shouldn’t have happened. And I can understand parents choosing to try to keep kids off social media as a result. (It’s not going to work completely - when have teens ever listened to their parents 100% and not done stupid things to get around them? - but we can try.) But blaming Zuckerberg for the behaviors of all 12 year old girls everywhere isn’t accurate and it isn’t helpful. I don’t have all the answers to the problems (obviously), but I think they begin at home and in schools with trying to teach our children - and adults - about compassion and kindness. Kids need to understand the CONSEQUENCES of their cruel words and actions, because they often do not know. For the bullies, this is just fun and games and a way to make themselves feel superior. They need to understand how to deal with their OWN feelings of inadequacy and find other ways to “have fun” that aren’t at others’ expense. Zuckerberg (and others) can and should work on improving their algorithms to deal with these issues better. Ultimately though, it’s not about the algorithms and it never was. It’s about a failure of humanity to be humane to one another. No algorithm can fix that. Only we can.

This was very hard for me to watch. They wouldn’t let him even answer, even if the answer was going to be total BS. I hate it when everyone is talking all over each other. He has a duty to make it safe, but parents also have a duty to monitor their children. Thanks Spidey, even though I cringed through most of it!!

I didn’t see this one specifically but in most committees hearings the congressman have a specific time. Seen so where they run out of time due to the one being questioned not answering the question. Yes it’s infuriating because we expect a question and answer exchange but committee hearings aren’t structured as such. I had a broken tv that got stuck on c-span. I think it’s about making a point rather than anything else.

My struggle with these interrogations is that you can't actually hear a real conversation. I get that people are angry, but it doesn't answer questions that actually matter. "Who did you fire?"?? That's not even an effective question. It's a double bind. That's not the point. It would be better to ask, "what are you doing to change this?"/"what have you done in response?"

You're asking these companies to monitor millions of children with a few thousand staff, but parent can try to do their part too watching over a few children. And yes. The senators weren’t at all interested in any real answer nor were they interested in understanding anything. I think MS couldn’t really give an honest answer here because the algorithm doesn’t show anything you’re not interested in, or that you haven’t clicked on, so is hard to give an answer with all those parents that want to blame social media, but where is their responsibility as parents. I know many 10yo and older kids in my son’s school that have IG public profiles and those profiles weren’t made by the parents with the real age or anything like that, so how are any security measures supposed to work?

I agree all Mark's products (Facebook, Instagram etc.) actually aggravated societal problems. I get too many Instagram scammers' messages every single day, including romance scams. These products are just too eager to make money itself and let scammers make money. It's a shame this world's leading tech company is so much morally insensitive. I don't think our future will remember him as a role model. He will be remembered just as a morally failed entrepreneur.

Collaboration over Competition would benefit the whole - but the egos in the room can’t do that. Impossible.

Yeah, but this is even worse. The senators have access to all of these people behind the scenes. This is all about posturing for the voters. They get campaign money from all of these companies, and if they wanted to create a law to prevent any of these issues, they’d be doing that right now, instead of yelling at their campaign donors, then giving them more tax breaks.

These senators want media time to make voters to remember them as powerful and aggressive. This hearing is about their visibility, not about the actual performance of Meta or Facebook. If the senators were about actually trying to fix things, the discussion style would be totally different.

First, I'd like to say thank you for your posted content. It's always informative and eye-opening. Secondly. Your comments about how negative the Senate's questions are and how counterproductive the whole format is. I, as many others, have already stated, totally agree with you on the manner of the how and/or why they feel that they don't need to give time to actually answer their questions. Finally. In this episode, you have shown the difference in a dialog that is truly fact-finding and/or trying to be diplomatic and solving an existing problem by using thought and words. As opposed to what the example of "Bullying" that the Senate members have chosen to use in their line of questioning. If I was trying to teach teenagers the difference between Bullying and debate, this would be a near perfect example. As always, thank you for your content, my friend. Take care of yourself.

The senators are such hypocrites. One could find failures in their tenure: "crime has skyrocketed in your district. WHO DID YOU FIRE?!"

I never in a million years thought I would be rooting for Zuckerberg, but the Senator (while 100% in the right) made it an emotion-based clownshow. You can savagely destroy someone in a deposition without brining an ounce of emotion or feeling into the equation. An icy, measured delivery of blunt facts would have been much more inpressive.

One of the problems is that the AI they are using is still flawed. The AI doesn't make judgements that humans could make but it's probably not economically feasible for the companies to employ the number of humans they would need to do that. Early versions of AI were blocking all the organizations that counsel victims because the AI was triggered by certain words and phrases. I would have liked to have heard the Senators ask some questions about training the AI but a lot of the "questions" were more or less just rants.

Wow. Just wow. That 43 minutes went by in a blink. I hope you're going to do more from this hearing. Warning: political comment coming: high praise for Senator Tillis! He broke away from the usual Republican method of attack. He appeared sincere in wanting to work cooperatively with social media to protect the future leaders of the world, children.

Tillis is my Senator from North Carolina. Even though I vote Democrat, even if I disagree with Tillis most of the time, he appears to be reasonable. He is not outrageously ignorant like Cruz, Hawley, and some others. I occasionally agree with his positions.

Thank you for mentioning the difference in body language when it comes to people with autism in the beginning. Lots of people with autism continuously show body language that indicates lying as their bass line, including me. And it makes it quite hard to be taken seriously and to come across as reliable. Could you please do a video about autism and body language? I would love it if people became more aware about neuro divergent body language, and maybe get some awareness for ourselves as well 😊

What gets me is it is already illegal to share child abuse images. Technically Meta is not only allowing it but promoting the hashtags.

Here, we see the evidence of the dumbing down of a society. The senators are supposed to be examples of respect and decorum. If we can't/aren't holding them accountable, how dare they expect to hold anyone accountable. In a word, disgraceful.

Y’all do realize this is the FOURTH hearing they’ve held and Zuckerberg is STILL saying the same 💩 answers. They know what’s coming as soon as he opens his mouth and they don’t want to hear it for a fourth time. What Zuckerberg DOESNT have an answer for is what his company has done to solve issues that were addressed in the three previous hearings. He gets cut off because he’s answering the same exact way he always has. And I totally agree about the Canadian parliament! They sound like elementary kids picking fights on the playground or on the school bus. It’s absolutely crazy. Entertaining, but crazy 😂

The senator is acting foolish. If he genuinely wanted answers/resolutions, the questions would be different. He just wants to vent indignation. He cannot accomplish anything by asking in this way and overriding answers. We could have solutions here but instead there is just disconnection and so there can be no place to agree to a way that serves for betterment. Where there is agreement there is power where there is disagreement there is none. As is evident as we look around in this world.

This channel is so educational, providing the background information on the research was really beneficial in understanding the questioning exchange better. I love the thoroughness of your observations and explanations. These videos should be required viewing for communication courses.

Cruz and Hawley are so combative that it makes it hard for anyone to want to comply. Their style of questioning causes stress. I would have been VERY uncomfortable.

I am sorry these parents lost their children. No parent should have to endure this pain. But does publicly shaming Zuckerberg, and demanding an apology in front of cameras change anything in these people's lives? No. Does it elevate the bully mentality of Halley and Cruz? Yup. There are better ways to get positive results and change.

I had to go take a look at Senator Blackburn's web page because the way she was acting like a Mom accusing a child of doing something made me wonder if she was up for reelection soon. I'm not familiar with her, so to me listening to her not listen she just sounded like someone who was more concerned with getting her talking points across than someone who wanted to actually work on a solution. Great video Mr Spidey, very informative and well presented. Also, sorry about going off topic, it was just something that really stood out to me.

We call her the opioid queen here in Tennessee. She is owned by the pharmaceutical industry dealing with opioid and the addiction it causes. She could very well be sitting at the table with the social media ceo's but it's a different subject but just as bad. And the parents enraged with the social media giants seem to forget about the fact that they bought the smartphone, even iPhone for their children and didn't disable apps. It's hard to look in the mirror when something terrible happens to your child, but it starts in the home, parenting or lack there of.

@@chanelv5373 it’s a strategy employed by some in both parties but used in different ways and for different reasons. Tillis was the most effective in promoting a ‘team’ strategy. Many maga republicans like Blackburn just want to be seen as tough on people and telling them off. Anger is their stock in trade and gets their people riled up. Useless. Some dems do that but not as regularly.

Ug, some of these senators are so infuriating! They shouldn't ask a question and then not allow him to answer. They just want to yell at him.

The main problem is that US senators are more concerned with doing as little work as possible than collaboration, and assume that if they bully someone enough the person will just concede and agree to sign their laws to 'save face'. When in reality it only makes the CEO's less likely to agree to anything, because why should they? The senate gave them 0 incentive to cooperate

Ok having watched the entire video. My issue with Cruz showed up later also in the female senator. The bombardment of questions and lack of discourse. This was not a hearing intended for answers. At least it doesn't seem that was the agenda for everyone. Again this was a great example to watch regarding body language and interviewing. Me, too! I have 2 small kids and we are trying to be as educational about the dangers of social media as possible from early on. Restricting completely is not the way, they have to be aware how to move through the internet. But we need the companies providing these services to take more responsibility and actions! Not sure if this interrogation is the way to go, but at least it's a public topic.

@@c.swinford8283 my 9 year old didn’t want to do summer camp this year and I didn’t want her just playing Roblox so we did what I called “pilgrim summer”. Anything non-electronic was allowed. We played badminton with balloons, jacks, colored with chalk, painted, pick up sticks, etc. We both had a blast! Honestly I don’t think younger kids are as hard as teenagers with this.

I've gotten upset before when I see inappropriate things on social media sites and have frequently reported these things however because I now work for a website, I do have a bit of a different perspective on some of these things. The site I am employed by is a selling website but it's basically the same thing, finding the bad guys and getting rid of them so that the site is not ruined for others who have the right intentions. These "bad guys" are relentless and because it's online, the anonymity aspect makes things worse. We shut them down one day, they are back the next day and the next. It's difficult to control. Now, if these social media sites are not interested in doing anything about it, that's different but that's my two cents. Great video!

Excellent breakdown. As for whose fault it is that people are harmed on social media …. Everyone’s fault. As parents, many of us have to do more. Should the platforms have some responsibility? Yes. As a parent, personally I feel the majority of the responsibility is on me. But that’s just me. I wish the senator would have let him talk more. I wish as Spidey said, that emotions were left out… and more time was spent working together for solutions.

There are apps to monitor what their kids do, I get it kids are exposed to a lot especially from their peers. However they should be JUST as responsible for what their kids are doing/watching on their phones.

It is more on parents but bc parents don’t parent social media gets blamed. Since they allow kids on platforms they need to make sure it is kid safe and it isn’t. Also on politicians bc what have they done to stop this too. But if parents were doing their job it wouldn’t even be a thing. But as long as kids aren’t in many parents hair they don’t care what they are doing

I think they do that on purpose because the way I see it nothing ever gets resolved in these meetings because nobody ever lets anybody finish talking. They can ask all the tough questions they want, but the questions never get answered and nobody ever gets held accountable.

There’s simply no way for websites to detect potential crimes through message exchanges even with AI and ML (machine learning). Even then that would be an enormous breach of privacy. There’s absolutely no way for social media to detect who is a stranger to someone. Having something as a “social media police force” just doesn’t work. Is your idea to flag any messages that include phrases like “hey let’s meet up”? If so police would be knocking on just about everyone’s doors as I’m sure millions of people, myself included, use social media as the primary way to connect with real friends. The incident of the girl you mentioned is unfortunate. But that’s the risk in things like this. This was not an issue in social media not having an alarm system. Everyone puts themselves at risk the moment they contact any stranger regardless if it’s on social media or out in public.

Spidey, as an autistic woman I love how receptive you are to learning about and recognizing that autistic people do not act in the ways expected by non-autistics. The community in general isn't using Aspergers anymore as you noted, but also we don't tend to like using "functioning" labels or "mild/severe" labels. Zuckerberg might have a mild presenting autism, but that doesn't mean that his experience is "mild". He may have lower support needs or may be high masking, but he doesn't have "mild" autism. Again, I love your videos and you did a great job on this one!

I would definitely argue with the characterization that Asperger’s is a mild form of autism. The characteristics are just different than what pops into people’s mind when they think of autism. People who once were labeled as suffering from Aspergers fall on the Autism spectrum and the severity of their symptoms can be very severe and crippling.

@TraumaLlama91 the only reason he places any emphasis at all on Zuckerberg's diagnosis is because of the fact that reading an autistic person's body language is going to be different from reading a nuerotypical person's body language. It might be difficult to read their baseline because their behavior can sometimes be much different. His job is to read people and understand that person's baseline behavior is a huge part of that, as is identifying any reason why it might look a bit different to a layperson.

As an adult performer, social media safety & the protection of children online is very important to me. I wish a paywall separated children from adult content. Looking forward to watching this.

They need ID verification for account signups. If it’s an account is in the age of minority, a parent/guardian should submit their ID, and the parent/guardian must have an existing account and they get parental controls over their children’s accounts. This is how we hold parents responsible. A kid can easily create an adult lurker account, and bot accounts are also a problem.

Realistically, social media companies need to continue putting protective systems and parental control in place while the parents need to do better when giving their kids access to devices. Many parents get their small kids iPads so they don't bother the parents and then those kids are on TikTok, KZread, etc every single day.

Blame never actually solved anything. So yeah, I agree with you--work together to do more and save more people. The blame game never gets us anywhere no matter how emotionally, in the moment, we feel we need it.

It would be awesome if you were the official Senate hearing interrogator. Maybe we could get answers for a lot of different issues. Thank you for this video. As usual, you break it down so well.

Secondly, someone could tell/show another person about it, people talk about this crap all the time in workplaces etc, younger people do search it whether peer pressured or curious, a parent may well do a quick search for something to check first if anything is available before they allow their kid access. .. there’s plenty of reasons someone may come across it. Did you not hear about how people were creating cartoons on Kids YT for peppa pig where they put Momo scenes in it? This stuff happens all the time everywhere. Your comment sounds like you’re all for it or are putting blame on another rather than taking into account the platformer’s responsibilities too at hosting and promoting this kind of crap. Inappropriate content should not be allowed on “family-friendly” platforms. Period. Those platforms should be locked at 18+ / 21+ and certainly not advertised to users below that age.

These parents owe all these executives an apology for refusing to actually parent their children, and blaming everyone else for their bad/ lacking parenting skills.

A great video thank you! In all honesty, I think you give the senators too much credit. I perceive them to be there to just make a great show for the parents there and the people at home. They are not looking for solutions at all and it is not because they are too emotional. These are the same Senators that don't make any effort when children die in school shootings. The only reason this hearing exists is not because they care, but because they can bully and make noise while, yet again doing nothing. They are using these families and it is horrific.

How do you get to be a senator without learning the basics of nonviolent communication? This is unfortunate. We need Marshall Rosenberg in their mediating lol so that we can get solutions.

Spidey, I LOVE how optimistic you are and are always giving people the benefit of the doubt! I completely agree to be that way… until you give me a reason not to. We need to remember, that these congressional leaders have reached out to these CEOs time and time again, and I’ve been getting the runaround, “fluffed,” and just flat out stonewalled for months or even years at a time. I understand after all of that how one could say, “You KNEW ‘such and such’ problem existed and you did NOTHING about it!” If you know that someone had prior knowledge of a very serious danger within their product and took zero - precious little steps to closeup the pitfalls, to turn around and say after that “I believe you’re trying to do everything you possibly can to fix…” is disingenuous. The families sitting with traumatized children or empty rooms where their children used to play, sleep and enjoy their lives don’t want to hear about the GOOD their products do. They want to hear, definitively, what these people are going to do to eliminate the dangers and when. It’s the same as if a car company puts out 10,000 cars that knowing full well that 1,000 of those would malfunction people died as a result of it. The family members don’t want to hear about how many times the car function properly. They want to know what is being done to keep it from killing others. It seems to me that perhaps these congressional members that are angry, and are being depicted as hostile, and “the worst example of what to do“ are resorting to using pressure from the community to get the CEOs to get their stuff together, because they haven’t been able to get anywhere with them otherwise.

You are a gift. This one should be a required class for everyone, including congress…

I’m sick of the antagonistic tone of our so-called leaders who feed the meanness in our culture. Yes social media companies can do more, should do more, and ned to be held to task. However, grandstanding bullying conduct by these senators fuels at worst and validates at best the hateful predatory lying divisive content that is equally destructive. Imho

There's accountability that needs to be had in all corners. The law makers, the social media platforms but also the parents. Stop worrying about being too strict with your kids and start engaging! Worry more about their LONG-TERM mental health and well being, their moral fiber, than being their friend or keeping up with the Jones'. I'm a parent of 2 "kids" in their mid 20s and I was restrictive of their screen time through mid teens and had access to real-time data on their phones and computer (though rarely needed it - the fact they knew I did was enough usually). They didn't resent it, they understood it. If they had to hide it, they shouldn't do it. We had frequent open dialog about actions and their consequences, both emotional and material, and about empathy and doing what's right even when it's difficult, not what feels good in the moment, and the long term benefits and pride that comes from those tough decisions. My kids weren't perfect by any means, but I can say they were involved in very little of the drama I saw others going through. Being a responsible parent is a full time job, and is more and more difficult as time passes (or we complicate it... ). I am truly thankful I am not raising another child in today's world. It is not for the faint at heart.

My parents weren't as into controlling my devices or content, (maybe at one point when they thought I am addicted to gaming, luckily they rested their case when I pointed out dad is also gaming or programming for hours until 3am and he is revered for algorithmic thinking and his PhD but I am being restricted in achieving the same 😂) but I definitely do agree that too many people seem to want the whole world to raise the kids right instead of them... True, it does take a village to raise child, but the parent has the utmost responsibility for that. A child experiencing abuse and sometimes even ending their life is a terrible thing to the parent, but it tells me that everyone failed this child along the way - the media companies who provide access to content, the parents themselves who didn't instruct the child on how to navigate and consume media, how to process things and open up to them, and then didn't take action soon enough, the schools and other facilities the kids attended that should also pick up troubling signals thanks to the trained personnel and mitigate and/or alarm the parents early... You can't just throw a set of clothes, a frozen pizza and an iPhone at a child and consider it parenting 🤷‍♀️

Great topic Spidey!~ When Zuck paused .... and then said ".....alright, senator, um", he was answering the question "Mr Zuckerberg, what the HE** were you thinking", in addition to using that moment as a pause to compose himself, I also think it was to draw attention to the disrespectful wording of the question - letting it hang in the air for a moment. I think Zuck is almost surprised Senator Cruz would use that kind of crude wording during a US Senate hearing and he is a little taken aback, but also smart enough to let the question sit a moment: "what the he** were you thinking". 😠

😂 I find it laughable how many people are focusing on how offensive the senators are to him. I could care less whether these senators are left, right, middle, or somewhere in between. What I do find offensive is how these parents had to sit there and listen to an idiot who could care less about what happened to their children. This guy is well above the curve in intelligence, so don't fool yourself with all the emotions going back and forth. He was smart enough as you said to let the question sit for a second, but he's not smart enough to fix the problem and protect our children? Now that's laughable.

The absolute best in the industry. And those who are doing nothing to contribute other than complaining that the best programs ever made to take the task on, are not good enough for them, with ZERO understanding of what is involved in doing such a task at the speed a volume. They pout from the sidelines "make it better" "fix it stupit", with their lower lip sticking out, looking like the child that they also sound like. An absolute anger-fueled blunder by these senators! They did more damage than good.

The AI system for sexually explicit content on fb is broken. I have reported so much of that kind of content (likely posted by bots on groups very much not meant to be about that sort of content). Every time i report it to fb, the report comes back that it doesn't go against community standards. I have tried contacting fb about this issue and haven't gotten a response ever. I have exactly 0 faith in fb to moderate any sort of content at this point. The solution for now, at least, is that my children do not go online. They're too young to understand the consequences of online activity so until they're old enough to understand how their behavior can be used and manipulated online as well as old enough to deal with some of the content they may see online, they'll be staying offline. I don't post their pictures/videos/personal information online and neither does anyone else.
