What rank are you after all the years in?
Go into RTC “or I guess any bootcamp” with a humble mindset. Leave your ego at home and try to learn something new every day. RTC flew by for me because I genuinely applied myself to all the activities and school curriculum. I noticed a lot of the recruits who were hating life always complained and in turn they had a terrible time. Think about it, you’re getting paid to wake up, eat three times a day, exercise, and learn seamanship “obviously much more “ Enjoy your time there and just embrace the suck when times get rough. Remember nothing last forever and all hard times end. I genuinely miss RTC at times, hopefully I can pick up an RDC billet later on in my Navy Career Be safe everyone and have a great day
Do EXACTLY as you're told, never more never less, only exactly what you are told, don't do anything stupid, and youre good. Boot camp is not hard, YOU make it hard
My son went through this in 2020, and COVID added an extra layer of stress. He was so shook up that his intial phone call he said about 10 words then he hung up. You could hear yelling in the back ground which made me laugh. In 1984, obviously before cellphones, we had to stand in line and make 'collect calls' from pay phones to tell the folks back home we made it.

@@ImCegtr I am also a retired Navy veteran (retired in June 2000), and I would advise you to wait until at least you have completed 3 years of active duty before you start thinking about whether or not to make the military a (lifetime) career. If your going I'll tell you this make sure you run and swim before you do because i didnt and well i had a lot of great memories of being trained at boot camp... The nervousness is normal but ill be honest if i make it then you can too.

@@askardc Thank you, & yes, I was a greenside doc, but full disclosure, I got out in 2008 so I'm not nearly as spun up on what to expect and all the changes that may have occurred. However to this day, my time getting to be a part of the greatest fighting force this world has ever seen, was the coolest thing I've ever got to do in my life and still consider myself a sailor and love seeing the next generation continue to carry that torch. The best friends of my life I met in the military as well. Its fun to sometimes watch and see what has changed, which it seems like a few things have, however it looks like for the most part very similar to what I experienced. No ideas off the top of my head that you haven't already done a great job at explaining, however if there's any way an old veteran can help give me a shout. My subsequent training was very demanding AW pipeline, and boot camp set me up for success…C029 RTC Orlando, FL 11/22/82-01/21/83.
