It helped him win, no? If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying... Good on him for finding the right corners to cut in order to win. The battlefield isn't fair- so why should he be? In combat, fair fights will either get you wounded or killed. The US military doesn't believe in fair fights. It intercepts and decodes enemy messages to thwart their maneuvers. It uses drones and satellites to observe enemy movements from above. It hacks into devices all around the world to listen in to, and record everything the enemy is saying when they believe their safe in their own private compounds. It only invades and declares war on third world nations who stand no chance against American forces. Fair fights are a fool's errand

Fun fact: The pass standards in the video refers to the minimum standards for recruits fitness test of all personnel of the PLA (may differ in gender, but it's including civilian personnel). It's heard that on requirements of the PLA Marine Corps, for 3km carry run it's 11 min 35 sec on pass. The assessments of elite soldiers will not include the things mentioned in the video, but the ones much more rigorous than these.

You should learn about the strategy about how to compete with chinese soldier, I know the chinese soldier so much. To be honest, i confess that the average american soldiers are stronger than ours, because of the white gene and good nutrition in the american army such as a lot of meat. but in china, we dont have meat as much as the american army. most of dishes are vegetable, and rarely beef, chichen. also chinese boy like 20 years old are usually weak. i think our physical situation are weaken to american people. However, you know, chinese army , actually not only in the army, like to specially train some special personnel to join the match, just like olympic game, even thought chinese team obtains more gold than the other teams, does it mean chinese people are better than others ? this is not the case, chinese government specially train some persons just to join the match.do you know my meaning. in a sum, if you want to match with chinese people, its better to match by the AVERAGE ONES instead of SPECIAL OR DESIGNATED ONES, sorry for my poor english. Also i would like to make friends with US soldier or Former US soldier, its honored.

The overall PLA physical fitness standards seem pretty comparable to the US Army's old APFT standards: 35 push-ups (2 min), 42 sit-ups (2 min), & a 2-mile (~3.2KM) run in under 16:36. The 5X10 shuttle run seems like a very practical fitness test in the military context, & might be useful for the US to adapt. Real combat situations often do not require troops to move particularly long distances, but they do require fast dashes & rapid direction changes under fire to maneuver to the next point of cover &/or concealment. The shuttle run seems like good practice to hone that skill.

When I was 45 years old I did 300 pushups in 5 minutes, that is one ☝🏻 pushup every second. And I actually touched my chin to the carpet with each pushup, it was also by far the most pushups I had ever done in one set I could have gone on longer but I didn’t want to get injured and I felt a little muscle strain so I stopped there, my previous record was 105 when I was 29 years old. I didn’t look particular buff or anything just looked my usual well muscled but ordinary size. I was 6’ 2” and was probably 185 lbs. I was experimenting with electrical muscle stimulation, I had worked out doing 50 pushups a night for a week previously. I would set up the electrodes on my arm muscles 💪🏻 so that my arms would straighten and complete a push-up automatically with my mind relaxed, then to go down to touch my chin to the floor I had to concentrate on going in the opposite direction with my arms muscles, I could just barely make that happen, and when I stopped concentrating my arms would straighten out again doing a pushup. And then I would do 50 pushups with the electricity ⚡️ on my arms cranked up the whole time. So then at the end of the week working out that way then I did pushups with no electricity ⚡️ to see what I could do and I did 300 in exactly 5 minutes. The down side, there was no real downside, I didn’t have burns on my arms or anything like that, maybe a slight rash, but that kind of strength probably lasts only two to three weeks if you stop, you must continually do that workout to maintain that strength.

For push up min are 40, expected average is 60. For set up (pushing on legs is illegal per Chinese standard btw) the min is 50 and expected average is 80. For 3 km run, the min is 13:50 the expect average is 11:30. If any individual goes below minimum, he/she (yes, this standard is from 2006 and the minimum applies to both genders. the newer 2016 standard is separated by gender. For example min for push up have raised to 50 for men) will disqualify and if the cohort goes below expected average, they will get additional remedial training until they pass (or DQ enough low performers) Also not cover in this video is running with 20 kg combat gear, (minimum standard is 26 minutes and expected average is 23 minutes) as well as a 400 meter obstacle course (minimum at 2:30 with no expected average). According to online comments, there two items are where recruits tend to fail, since they are not common in civilian physical training. The entire standard has 9 items is the basic standard across the entire military, different branches and units has their additional test item. For example the ground force (army) has 25km march in 20 kg combat gear added to the standard repertoire.

An expected average of 80 push ups? An average run pace of about a 6:20 mile seems very fast, even for a sub-2 mile run. In the US military, these would be pretty high performing standards across all units. Did you serve? The implication of this would be that the entire Chinese military is being held and maintained at a significantly higher fitness standard than their Western counterparts.

  • @seanwong8479

@@caleb3909 avg 80 is set ups , avg 60 is for push up. I did not serve, this is just from published regulations. However, the consensus online is that these regulation are strictly enforced. Since the competition is fierce for recruits to become enlisted and for enlisted to stay. Since in the PLA anyone serves more than the initial 2 years automatically made NCO rank, and less than one third would make the cut.

Military fitness standards must have changed drastically over the past 40 years. I joined the Army in 1982 (served 31+ yrs) and did 86 “correct” push-ups in 2 min on my Basic PT Test. That was about average for my group. These guys would have failed miserably. None of their push-ups would have met the standard. I can hear my drill counting “Zero, zero, zero, zero. Do one correctly and I’ll count it.” Having pretty muscles is great for the beach, but functional fitness is what gets the mission accomplished.

I thought the US marines had to do the full rep, not half reps - partial press ups and partial sit ups? I was under the impression that a full rep was all the way down and all the way up - the sit up should be elbows up to the knee? Superhuman effort from both guys, hats off

Yea but why do them if they give you less points for the pft, it’s kinda shooting yourself if you don’t max and even then it’s still less than doing 15 pull ups

0:30.....Uh,...those aren't real pushups. When I was in Combat Control school, we AIRMEN used to laugh at Marines who couldn't do a real pushup, a real situp, OR a real pull up to save their lives. They also couldn't run very fast or swim very good. They also needed raincoats when it rained. One time, we saw them at the chow hall and it started to rain, and that's when we all said, "It's starting to rain! You Marines need to go back and get your raincoats before you start melting!" I don't know why they got so mad, we were just trying to help. WE didn't mean anything. Oh, and the last time that I tested, I could do 115 REAL pushups in two minutes. I thought that I actually did more, but my cadre took a few off, because he didn't consider them real pushups. I also did 120 REAL situps in two minutes, over 35 REAL pullups in two minutes, and I ran 10 miles in one hour. And there were 2 people who beat me in the running. Anyway, my Tiger Kung Fu...is better than yours...I don't think you're good enough...to avenge your master...

Actually, to be eligible for enlistment, the running requirement is 5 km in 23 mins for those 25 years and under. Those over 25 but under 30 y.o., the cut off is 23'30". . Not 3 km.

Austen. I'm an Army vet and my co-worker is a Marine vet. We're both lets say.... portly. We thought it would be funny af to have one of these tests for a military branch done by normal every day joes like us. The title would be more like, "Can these 2 average joes FINISH the Chinese Army Fitness Test." Hilarity would ensue.
