David Byron was not only Heeps best vocalist ever but he brought a magic to the band which I think Mick, Ken and the others certainly fed off in songwriting and musicianship. Loved this lineup

Unfortunately, their personal demons (heroin and booze, respectively) got the better of them, and both were fired as a result.

R.I.P Gary Thain such a driving force on bass. I love all of his lead fills.

I like all eras of Heep but I agree: you can't replace David Byron. Too bad his personal demons got the better of him. His alcoholism was the reason why he was fired and by the time Mick Box tried to get him back in the band a few years later he was too far gone.

God the early 70's were the shit!!! I'm glad I was young during that time.

There will never be another Uriah Heep line up like this one, I love that Mick Box is keeping Uriah Heep going, but this video is truly the absolute best ! Also one of the best and most original rock bands of the 70's just an incredible chemistry and talent!

I like the Lawton and Goalby lineups of Uriah Heep as well but it's impossible to duplicate the magic of the early lineup with Mick Box and David Byron. I only discovered Heep about 3-4 years ago and wish I'd been around to see them in their prime. Simply brilliant. How this band never became huge is beyond me.

I only discovered them 3-4 years ago but I got into them. Their music was every bit as good as the proto-metal put out by the likes of Blue Cheer and Deep Purple but they never got the same level of attention. Truth be told, I don't think that Heep will die until Mick Box does. He'll keep it going as long as he's physically capable of getting up on stage. Nothing will ever duplicate the original lineup fronted by David Byron but at least Box is keeping the legacy alive.

I ran into Uriah Heep as a teenager and I bought an 8-track of your music. The magicians birthday album. Night after night I would play them in line headphones As I lay upon my bed until your music was a part of my soul. Now all these years later as a middle-aged man 55 . I heard them I was just a teenager I've heard of them again. All I can say is thank you you brought me peace in my youth and my old age.

@@NatriumSulfuricum People need to stop using that word in the wrong sentence. He was underappreciated not underrated, actually he is pretty well known for having a voice that can match up to Ian Gillan and Robert Plant, although he is much less popular than them.

The very best and unique Uriah Heep line-up... my favorite one...

Saw them late 70's, Gary T. was their best bassist, David B. vocals, Ken Hensley keys, Lee K. drums. After they died or left...never the same.

I can't hear anybody other than David Byron singing Heep's music. It was built for his voice.

@@sonnylatchstring. It sounds like a live performance to me. You can hear David saying “Allright” at the beginning and then the crowd. I saw this same lineup in Albuquerque NM at Tingley back in ‘78 when Heep opened up for KISS. I didn’t know who Uriah Heep was until that concert. Heep stole the show from KISS imho.

I love this group! me and my best friend since my student days listened to all the albums, were fans of this team !!! And now the war - my friend and I are on opposite sides of the barricades and it is unlikely that we will be able to listen to the music of our youth together!

Я выросла на их песнях,папа очень любит эту группу.Слушаю до сих пор!

Плачу...просто плачу...наверное потому, что такое чудо неповторимо, вся музыка коммерциализирована. Увы, но такого прекрасного хард-рока с потрясающим многооктавным вокалом мы больше не услышим.

David Byron was 10 times the vocalist that Robert Plant ever could be. Plant sounded good on Led Zep's studio albums, but was horrible live. Byron was great on all Heep's recordings. Too bad his personal demons did him in.

My first concert was The Heep, Manfred Mann, and Rush in Pittsburgh in 1974. It still remains one of the best shows after all these years. Uriah Heep was my favorite band as a teenager.

The Heep was my favorite group in high school. They were the first concert that I ever went to. They were awesome. I recently started listening to their earlier tunes. Gary Thain was freaking unbelievable.

I'm almost 35 and only discovered Heep a couple years ago. My friend who owned a vintage shop that sold records talked me into buying a couple of Heep records he had just brought in from a huge consignment collection. I was immediately hooked and have continued to buy any Heep vinyl I happened to stumble across ever since. I've listened to at least some of the Heep music from every era but the original era is still the best. Not one era is bad, though, and at least Mick Box keeps the band alive in one form or another. I think that Heep will be alive for as long as Mick Box is.

Наверное и не надо . Нашему поколению. Хватило с лихвой . Пусть появится что то новое . Мы ведь тоже не всё Великое застали в своей жизни .

А мне нравится

Девид гениален и всё что происходило в группе после его ухода было медленным затуханием хоть и нашли замену но такой проникновенности и чувства ритма слияния солиста с музыкантами нет .

They wisely had him loud in the mix too. This was taken right from their 73 live album. Great song.

Great song by a great band. I'm so happy that they show Gary Thain so much in this video. In my opinion he was the best hard rock bass player that ever lived. Screw club 27.

Мастера..... С начала 70 х хипов слушаю и по сей день. Одна из немногих роковых групп,под музыку которых можно было и потанцевать и послушать.

Даже не представляю, что бы я отдал в середине 70-х за то, чтобы увидеть это хотя бы краем глаза. Помню, их фотки из зарубежных журналов своим фотоаппаратиком переснимал и в ванной распечатывал. Брюки-клеш как у Байрона шили...А теперь? как все меняется..... Но все равно клево! Как в детство вернулся....
