Urbex: ABANDONED HOTEL Kissimmee Florida

Ойын-сауық

Exploring an abandoned hotel in Kissimme, Florida. The last health inspection date left behind was for 2001 and it was for "Super 8", yet the keys scattered around had "Best Value Inn" labeled on them, so my guess is that Super 8 still owned it and it was operating under their umbrella. The last calendar I found was dated late 2003-2004. Since this was in the maintenance room, I am assuming that there were maintenance personnel left behind to take care of the place after they closed in 2001-2002 while waiting to re-sell or re-open until this time. When nothing became of it and all fell through, it was left abandoned and has been for at least a decade now.

    Ha I recognize this place. This has recently been torn down for those that would hope to visit this place. For some strange reason they left only the playground.. Nice video by the way. I used to drive by this mess every day when I worked for the mouse. It has been in that state since Hurricane Charley. Many motels up the 192 strip fell victim to this. Especially on the east side of I 4. For this one in particular it got worse and worse. They went so far as to pull entire walls out and remove beds they were stacked in piles in the parking lot.

Besides the fear of spiders (I am just as bad as you...lol) it's fear of the weirdos out there that stop me. Thankfully, you are doing "the job" for me! Nice video!!! I used to work for a couple of hotels in my early years and the reason why that one room is so big is because some hotels have the manager live on site so the hotel will make them something like an apartment. It's one of the perks for being a manager at some hotels, living rent free so they can keep an eye on things 24/7.

    i know another viewer commented on the Brunos menu. from what i could find on this restaurant: There is a Bruno's Restaurant in Kissimmee that dropped the Cafe Italiano, but is still in the same place. i think the phone number is different now. the neon sign stands for carving station; there is a LUNCH DINNER sign behind it. the restaurant must have been a good sized room! Your videos are the best!

    I used to travel a lot when I was young. I mostly slept in rest areas, but sometimes I'd splurge and stay in a motel. It's kind of sad seeing a place like this abandoned and in such disrepair. Watching this I can imagine all the people who stayed there over the years, and the people who worked there.

    Hi, thanks! An interesting thing to mention: Kissimmee was THE place to visit if you sold Tupperware, esp. in its earliest days, as it was the resort-headquarters where glamorous conferences and award ceremonies were held; in the 1980s when the basic patent expired on the design of the Tupperware seal, business practices changed and the glory years of celebrating Tupperware in Kissimmee too...see the video online at: www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/biography/tupperware-tupper/ btw, this video shows how some really old kitchens used to look and they remind me of the houses you video, really amazing!!

    Wow! This makes me sad, my wife and I stayed at this very place in 97, when the whole of that area on the 192 was buzzing. We returned in 2003 (I think) but we were lucky enough to stay at the Mystic Dunes golf resort off the 192, again it was all still a very busy area. I remember there being a big inflatable Elvis on the corner, that was our marker, haha. Having watched some other videos it's shocking what's happened to the area since Disney built all their resort hotels. Very, very sad.

    Another great video tiki; I know it was may a while ago but it's new to me; it was a very detailed video showing everything including the small lizard, I think that spiders are creepy also...but nothing freaks me out more than those "Palmetto Roaches" flying around then they land on you an kinda cling there..ah!!! its like they just left everything behind; there must of been thousands of dollars worth of equipment left behind; those door locks and key cards are worth $250.00 each after they have been used...do you every worry about why the folks left in such a hurry? you know...bio-hazardous stuff?

  • @TikiTrex

    @TikiTrex

    8 жыл бұрын

    +David Rodriguez Thanks! Yes, those palmetto bugs are something else! There are a lot of abandonments along this stretch. Ever since the resorts opened on Disney property, less people are staying at the smaller motels off grounds causing them to go bankrupt and subsequently, close down.

    I stayed in this motel in March 1978 when it was called the Royal Scotsman Inn. It was out there all alone as nothing had been developed on US 192. All I remember seeing when driving from the motel to Disney World was a real estate/developer's office along the way. I don't know if the motel pre-dates Disney World or was one of the first off-site motels. Motel is on Sherberth Rd just off US 192. In 1978, Sherberth Rd didn't turn to cross 192 at a right angle and was right next to the pool.

    Could of taken damage during a storm and they didnt have the insurance or funds to come back from it. There may have been some unseen structural damage as well. Or possibly the main building for the office and resturaunt caught fire and was demoed already and the salvaged items kept in the rooms.
