Urban Exploring Minnesota - Fruen Mill [PART 1] (S1-EIII)

Being the center of Minneapolis' industrial might, the Fruen Mill provided jobs and domestic product to the greater part of the metropolitan area. Now it sits vacant, towering as one of the largest buildings ever constructed at its conception in the twin cities. Come with us as we explore the heights of this expansive monolith.

    Yeah, the milling operations officially ceased in 1971, but the businesses surrounding the area have made many attempts to revitalize it or convert it for their uses, but to no avail... The brewery that owns the land now has plans for demolition and they're proposing to build on the site it's currently on.

    Not a place to take lightly navigating around. In my younger years knew a young kid that survived a 100 plus Foot fall in that building. He was in a body cast for many months after. He was able to walk again. Fell trough the holes in the floors .Wasn't a easy place to get into back in 85.

    @@EvanBrenna It's usually at the owner's discretion. When we were caught he claimed he had already called the cops, and told us we should leave before they got there. We were both 16 at the time and we didn't feel like getting a trespassing ticket, so we left. We didn't see any cops there when we drove away, but we definitely weren't gonna risk calling the owner's bluff lol. Overall, our experience with getting caught is that you'll most likely be kicked out if you aren't vandalizing or stealing anything, but again, it depends on where you're caught, who catches you, and what you're caught doing. Hope this answers your question.

  • @theworldofyesterday4151

    @theworldofyesterday4151

    Great question! In a place like this you will likely be charged with trespassing, but additional charges such as breaking and entering, vandalism, theft, armed trespass, etc could be placed on you depending on the situation and the evidence you are prosecuted with. We have never been charged with trespassing when we've been caught because we bring cameras (It usually goes better for you if you are holding a camera and not spray paint). We don't steal or vandalize things, and we don't arm ourselves or force entry into these places. If you follow these rules, the most they'll do is kick you off the property and charge you with trespassing. "Take only pictures, leave only footprints."

    We were relatively new to urbex when we made this video, but keep in mind that every location is different in the hazards that it contains. This one has lots of places where one could slip and fall to their deaths. There are also unstable staircases and platforms that could collapse without warning. A good rule of thumb is to never do anything that you don't feel comfortable doing. Always go prepared with a first aid kit, flashlights or headlamps with extra batteries, cell phone and gloves. We'd rather our viewers not try these things, but obviously we can't stop you, but just do it as safely as possible.
