His issues were: he tried to modernize the industry too soon creating famine and inflation while he was having lavish party at the palace. Also Shooting protesters was a huge mistake and also publishing the letter trashing Khomeini. I agree that he really wanted to make Iran a powerful nation.

What an absolutely brilliant man with an amazing foresight and the ability to analyze world issues 40 years ahead of his time! One can look at this interview today as though the interview was conducted yesterday and not 44 years ago, because every single issue he brought up is as relevant today as he authored them 44years ago! It wasn’t just Iran who lost an incredible leader and a father of a nation but the entire world missed his leadership and foresight! Just look at what happened to Middle East, Europe, and the rest of the world soon after he was betrayed by his ungrateful people, and his so called “friends” in World leaders! A truly a remarkable man for ages who loved his country, it’s people, and not only wanted the best for Iran but also the rest of the world! It is a tragedy and a travesty that powers at be saw him as a threat and didn’t allow him to continue his dream of a powerful, industrialized, civilized, and friendly Iran!

The next generations after the generation that turned their backs on him, love the Shah so much, we almost tear up every time we see a picture or an interview of him. He feels like a father to all of us. Even though we weren't born when he was still alive. Even Gen Z and the newer generations appreciate the Shah and his father and what those remarkable patriotic people did for Iran and especially Iranian women. Most Iranians are fighting the Pahlavis' name in the streets in protests and we're fighting to get his son, HRH Reza Pahlavi in power. If there's one thing no one doubts when speaking about the Pahlavis, is they're patriotic and genuinely good people.

yes, Iran has a FEW huge deserts.. (source of sand.. think: glass, semiconductors, transisters, ipads, etc) but also, underneath sand, which USED TO BE SEA, is WATER... lots and lots of water!!, and underneath that, untapped oil reserves.. but Iran is a huge country compared to Europe.. and has provinces as large as England, that are covered with lush forests, that probably get more rain too.... 4 mountain ranges, (mountains are future MINES) which almost encircle the entire county... 1500 km stretch of coastal land to the west and south, and about a 800 km along the sea in the north.. incidentally, “deserts” are some of the most PRECIOUS land formations.. usually registered as world heritage sites by UNESCO.. and highly protected, including the ones in Iran... (not that im endorsing UNESCO or the UN, the evil satanists, just pointing out the value of deserts) no wonder everyone wants it..

Tehran was one of the top 10 modern city's at his decade. His mistakes where other things, which you sadly didn't explain here. The Shah was trying to reform the country in a very fast way. Which causes that the difference between the social classes increased. People from the villages weren't supported enough, but he had the support of them in his planes, too (look at the docum.). Yes he was a kind of an dictator, whos sectret police imprioned people from the opposition sides, but your are not understanding, which kind of pressure was on him. You must watch to the circumstances. There were the mullahs, communists and the britiains, who were finally supported by the US. All these groups had the aim to destroy the country. So what would you do, when you are at the power. It also was in the 70s, so democracy how you know it today, didn't really exist whole over the world (cold war). His action against them was inevitable. He had the same option with his millitary resources to destroy the protests 1979(watch "iranian airforce 1970"), but he decited to leave, (not like Assad today for example). In his memorys he said that he wasn't able to kill this young protesting people.

The same people who put Ngo Dinh Diem in power (in Vietnam), removed him. The same people who put Qaddafii in power, removed him. The same people who put Batista in power, removed him. The same people who put the Shah in power, removed him. AND YES, the same people who put Adolf Hitler in power in 1933, removed him in 1945... and on and on and on....(How do you think the Weimar Republic was able to go from being 'the sick child of Europe' in the 1920s to the supremely mighty military power of the 1930s? How was such a miracle possible in such a short time? Where did the Nazis get the financing and why -- Hitler was a known commodity in 1933. His hateful "Mein Kampf" was published in 1925!) Do NOT fall for the tricks of the central bankers (the true rulers in the west going back to 1694, the Judeo/Masonic "elite"). Indeed, the Hegelian Dialectic is alive and well to this day. The 20th Century was the ultimate venue in dirty great game politics. There is so many layers and wrinkles other than "the people" when it comes to the 1979 "Islamic" revolution, that it would take me hours to do it justice. This guy was spending Billions buying weapons from the west similar to what Saudi Arabia is doing today. Modern-day Iran has built its own military capability and capacity. They built their own rockets and missiles...Their own drones! Their own Nuclear program! No country in the middle east has ballistic missile capability like Iran. Say what you want about the Mullahs but you cannot deny that they have made Iran rely on itself.

@@Khaled91, and who made it possible for them? Without pahlavi the theocratic regime wouldn't be able to progress further. The tools and resources were already there thanks to pahlavi. Addendum, the opposition to the current regime is not about whether or not iran should be self reliant? It is about the mass executions and unfair elections or rather rigged elections in addition persecution and assasination attempts (and assasinations) of political dissidents and harrassments of iranian critics.

So glad I was born in the U.S and not in Iran during the sham Islamic Republic. I cannot believe they let this brilliant, intelligent, charming man go. For what? So they can be bombarded by Arabs for the following 8 years, and have all their rights stripped away? What was the worse thing Shah did? Have a secret police? Big deal. Every country spies on its citizens via internet now.
