From the archives: Shah of Iran flees country during Iranian Revolution in 1979

On Jan. 16, 1979, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, left the country for what would become a permanent exile after more than a year of violent mass demonstrations. The Shah's departure marked the end of his 37 years on the throne and the rise of Islamic fundamentalists led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. “CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite” provided coverage from on the ground in Tehran and across the globe in Egypt, France and Washington, D.C.

Instead of what has turned into a sponsorship of terrorism and radical ideology, and enforced theocracy by keeping more than 70% of population below poverty level. Instead of being the Japan of the Middle East now it’s the North Korea of Middle East. Long live the visionary Shah of Iran! May he rest in peace !!

To you Iranians abroad: All of you are against the regime in Iran. you get no results by shouting "long live Pahlavi". This is a waste of time, Iran doesn't need a king, those days are over. Now that's enough, both kings and Arabs destroyed Iran with their sanctuaries/ mistresses/ travelers etc. Iran needs people who are Iranian. They should not be puppets of other powers. We have thousands of years of history. Our country is much worse/backward than many new countries Our beautiful country needs people with new perspectives. No superstition/untruth, but with great hope.. >> Pursue Iran's Future >>

USA & west have big due to all Iranian and all middle eastern and even all humans and animals and nature around the globe because they forced the RIP King swapped with Khomenie and its huge side effects globally. Shah made great safety around the middle east , keep the Oil price stable and was making peace and knowledge all around. he was the best human of the earth at the 1970s.

Shadow of Power: The Council on Foreign Relations And The American Decline. by: James Perloff (Feb 26, 2012) Chapter 10 (Carter And Trilateralism) Page 161 The Middle East. Iran was an important U.S. ally, not only as an oil source, but as the leading obstacle to Soviet ambitions in the Middle East. The Shah of Iran, who had governed his country since 1941, suddenly, like Somoza, became a mass media arch villain, even though he was probably the most progressive leader in his nation's history. He was attempting to quell uprisings by Islamic fundamentalists and Marxists, but was forced to ease up and make concessions to them when Carter threatened to withhold U.S. support. General Robert Huyser, a Carter emissary, persuaded the Iranian generals not to intervene to save the Shah's government. Khomeini later slaughtered many of those generals. In 1979, Iran collapsed; today it is a world center of terrorism.
