Upgrading Xbox 360 NAND Programmer Wires

Ойындар

Throughout many installation videos I have uploaded, several people have asked me what's up with my NAND wires? Why do they look different? What's attached to them? What did I do? In this video I'll answer all of those questions, why I did so, and how you can do the same with your own wires! This little upgrade can desoldering and resoldering your wires over time much easier and easily prolongs their lifespan if they're being used across many consoles.

Just did this today with some resistor legs and omg it's definitely made the whole NAND process so much quicker and easier than trying to solder the end of some stripped wires, I don't think I can ever do it without using this method from now on!

I did something similar to this on my first ever rgh about a week or so ago (Thanks for the great tutorial on that one btw - worked like a dream :) ). I was having trouble with soldering the tiny wires to the points. So I used some jumper wire from an Arudino kit I had laying around with the pins on and snipped the other ends to solder direct to my Pico Flasher. Made it so much easier as I was getting bad NAND reads all the time. Its amazing how much a little extra of a lead/point can do to help.

I always save the legs of through hole components as I never know when I might need something like that and I've used legs like that to bridge jumper pads that are a bit too far apart to jump using only solder. Plus they are fairly stiff.

Yeah I can't get the yellow ground wire to stay no matter what I try. I got my wire set with legs from weekend modder. I am stuck. I have tried heating solder point at 300c but solder will not keep contact long enough to stay and make a good connection.

Hi Mario, I've been researching this for quite a long time now and after I made some silicone wires I thought that next step would be reverse clip style connector. It is similar to EEPROM test clip, but reverse, instead of inward it would have outward pressure. Imagine how much easier programming would become

Can I write 4GB NAND with Picoflasher. My friend told me that it’s only possible on XFlasher 360. Which dupont wires (?AWG) should I use with the Picoflasher.

  • @MrMario2011

xFlasher 360 will have the best compatibility. Wire gauge doesn't really matter with the Dupont wires since you will just be soldering the connectors.

I didn't have a problem soldering on the programmer wires, I actually did that first, the resistor wires on the back were far far worse. And super hard to hit, I actually gave up but I plan on taking a crack at it again soon

Thanks for sharing, but not sure how? Soldering one solid piece of metal onto a pad in my experience is easier than soldering on stranded wire to the same pad.

  • @fatalisticend

    @fatalisticend

    Жыл бұрын

If you tin the wire first is it really still stranded? Little bit of Flux and a fresh dab of solder on the pad also make a world of difference. Not knocking the idea in the video, it's a good idea especially for someone that's new to soldering but I wouldn't say it's neccessary either.

That's a nice setup if you're only focused on one system, although socketing with every single console would be tedious since you would need a socket/pinheader setup installed in each one.

When do you think you'll reach the point where all of this stuff just becomes pointless, i mean it WILL happen eventually theres no doubts there, you've been doing modded 360 related stuff for years now.

Depends how pessimistic you are? You can argue that all video game related hardware and software is pointless, especially older stuff. Realistically? Probably totally pointless in a few decades when it seems like the existing community/interest is so small that there's pretty much no interest there.

By that same logic @ruinfox all our lives and everything you will ever do is pointless because it all happens in a fragment of time in the context of the totality of time and space.
