I use the exact method to upgrade my trinity from RGH 2 to RGH 3 and the boot times are so much better. Highly recommend anyone who is still using RGH 2 to do this upgrade. Great video and btw you forgot to blur out the CPU key at 11:15

Good looking out! Absolutely on the upgrade, another worthwhile upgrade if you want to keep the chip is to RGH 1.2, however I just opted to remove the chip entirely.

I actually find removing the top and bottom pieces that you say are the hardest part for you very easy. I guess maybe it's because I've done it so many times. Getting the two halves apart, on the other hand, I find much harder, at least until recently when I saw how you do it.

My first attempt to convert RGH1 to RGH3 did not got so well. After removing the chip the Trinity had no lights at all, not even power to USB controller. I tried the original dump, nothing. I gave it one last inspection, I noticed via pad FT4R2 was lifted from the old wiring. I did some searching and found a post that talked about jumping C5R11 and R4D4 to fix this. After hunting down some pictures my trinity is back up and running, RGH3 boots great.

if i had a slim id totally try this, but my rgh 1.2 jasper instaboots everytime, however like you said only 1 in 10 or maybe like 1 in 50 times it just doesnt boot, its kinda weird and makes me get up to reach the power button on the console itself

Hey Mario, this is a very nice tutorial but I gotta ask something. How come this is a RGH 3 conversion instead of a RGH 1.2 conversion? You would only need to change one I2C wire to PLL, remove the other I2C wire, and reprogram the glitch chip. It would be a lot less work than converting to RGH3.

It was fun to do and I've had this question several times from folks wanting to upgrade to RGH3. Amount of work would have been about the same either way since I would still have to scrape PLL, rewire chip, reflash the chip, and update the NAND for SMC+

Actually for anyone that is doing RGH 3 and is experiencing this issue, when POST and SMC_POST are not connected the console will instantly shut down when turned on. It's how RGH 3 is made to react. At least from Falcon to Trinity boards, but I haven't seen it on Corona versions

Makes sense as Corona is the only model which can boot retail with the wires installed.

Hello. I have glitch chip installed just like you (wired) and I want to completely remove it and get back to stock. Do I need to repair NAND as well or what is the procedure in this case? Kind regards

Yes. You'd need to flash over a Retail NAND with Clean SMC enabled, then remove the glitch chip.

I gotta get one of these in my Xbox 360 E model (early 2013 model).

I'm surprised you didn't flick that 4GB memory module off the board and slap in a hard drive.

Hey @MrMario2011 i am planning on getting my self an Xbox 360 Falcon version that already has an RGH and i would love to know if you have any videos that are focused on un-RGH-ing Xbox-es, as of now i don't have any OG backup files from the OG owner/modder and i am worried if i decide to do an RGH V3 mod that I'll brick the system or even worse kill the Xbox 360😟😟😟😟

If RGH 2.0 has been installed, does that mean RGH 3.0 doesn't need any more modules, you just need to use a cable and jump it like in the video?

Didn't have any plans for that, however if you need to do that: only do so with a NAND programmer you can solder in. Dump NAND, make sure you have CPU key, then build an image as "Retail" with "Clean SMC" checked.

@@LenoxFilms something similar happened to me, I just dumped whatever nand it had on board, built a new nand off of it and flashed that and it worked.

I would suggest to use the newer method of RGH for delivering the signals using AMS1117 1.2V voltage regulators, it is the safest method.

I've spoken with Octal who has worked on RGH3, the original release method is still what's recommended.

Will there be and will there ever be (never say never) a soft mod for the 360 just like the OG Xbox 🤔 By the way I followed one of your tutorials the other year on softmodding my OG and it was fantastic. My original is still going strong with all the frills and trimmings 😀👍

I just tried to RGH3 my Xbox and I’m pretty sure I bricked it. Any idea what to do next? I was following a previous Tutorial u made, I got to where you get the cpu key from xell and it wouldn’t boot up… what do I do next? Do I have to get a new Xbox and start over?

Getting my rgh 3.0 tomorrow, so hyped but it’s going to be an interesting one because I currently don’t own a pc, I am going to try to use usb to iPhone lightning converter and hopefully I can download files and transfer that way. If anyone is wondering why I’m doing it this way we’ll it’s pretty simple… big broke 😂
