I have a question. Sorry if the questions sounds naive but do these changes affect your files that are stored on the pc ? Do you have to reinstall every program and put every file back into place? I have the exact same pc and I am thinking of upgrading the graphics card for enhanced performance (I mainly use that pc to store my files and just play games in my spare time. I am tired to have to resort to low resolutions for some programs). Otherwise that video is extremely helpful, thank you a lot.

If your not installing an SSD nothing would change as the HDD were your files are stored would be untouched. Installing an SSD while leaving the files on the old drive is difficult but not impossible as moving the windows directory to another drive can be difficult and I’ve found reinstalling in these cases is the easiest just moving the files you want to keep to an external device.

I bought one of these for $75 Singapore dollars, approx $50 USD, and am trying to use this as a server. Do you reckon I can remove the cd player and find a way to stack the hard disks in there? Not sure how I can best stack them in the case as there is no hdd holder rack.

As this pc uses a normal 5.25” dvd drive you can remove it and use a 3.5” to 5.25” drive bay adapter like this: amzn.to/4coZpkx

The CPU is an AMD A10 6700 (4 core), so I was wondering if it's even worth upgrading the card to something as high spec as you have and going for another low power GPU to avoid the power supply upgrade (they look really hard to get hold of). The main problem with that seems to be finding one that's DDR3 and the right size.

As I do not have this computer I cannot be curtain but I would expect it to be an 80mm fan as the computer is under 100mm wide and 80mm fans are quite popular for smaller cases.

Most upgrades you do to this size of machine will need a better PSU as it won’t be able to give enough power and would result in either the computer becoming unstable or not able to reach it full potential.

As long as the computer is wide enough for the card to fit you’ll be ok. The only thing is it’s always a risk to buy from sites like AliExpress as you can’t guarantee it’s a legit card.

The GTX 1030 is a decent lower end card and as long it fits in your case and your PSU has enough wattage to support it.

Yo; I have this exact system and only plan to replace the GT720 with the GTX750TI because that seems like the perfect upgrade to make since the graphics are a huge bottleneck in this system for gaming. It’s always depends what you are upgrading from and what you are upgrading to. For example upgrading from the GeForce GT 720 to the GeForce GTX 750ti is a big improvement but will still not run the most recent of games at the highest graphics settings. What are you going to be playing and will you be recording/streaming?

It does depend on what you can afford and if it’s within the power budget of the PSU and if that is also going to be upgraded as if you also have an i7 like the one in the video then the GPU and PSU would be the only things that would need upgrading. You can use a PSU calculator to see if you are within power budget. (25-50w should be the minimum that is left from the eating of the PSU)

As long as it fits it’ll be comparable also I’d recommend using a PSU calculator to make sure your PSU is strong enough.

If you are using a normal ATX power supply and a full size graphics card the requires to be connected to the PSU directly the yes there shouldn’t be any issues with power.

It’s the correct size but it may not provide enough power as it is only 300w. For any upgrades I recommend a 500w minimum.

The H530 is the larger model while the H530s is the slim model.

I believe it’s a Micro-ATX as a Mini ATX is much smaller and square.

Yes the issues begin when you try to connect the front panel as in mine it used a single connector for the entire panel. Without a converter which I don’t know if anyone even makes it’ll be nearly impossible without hacking up the existing connector. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Unsure as I wanted but couldn’t easily do it as they used a proprietary front panel connector for the buttons usb and card reader and I didn’t want to spend the time making a custom cable to be able to use a normal case for it. But it could be doable just check the headers to see if they are custom or not.

+Jadoo According to the information I could gather don't exceed more than 16GB of memory and you'll need DDR3 modules and you'll also have to replace the memory already in the computer at there is only 2 sockets and if you have 8GB at the moment then both sockets will be populated with 2x4GB of memory.

If you don’t provide enough power to the computer and it’s components it will either not work properly causing unexpected behaviour or tripping the over current protection in the PSU which will power off the computer.

Has this got to i5-3330 processor? Someone on Facebook is selling one of these pc's for £120. Do you think that a good deal?

As long as you plug it into at minimum a PCIe x8 or x16 slot you should be able to use the car without any noticeable performance hit. In any case the likely bottle neck will be the CPU, RAM or Storage medium you are using for your games to load from.

The issue with Lenovo Slim Desktops is that they will use a proprietary front IO header which means if you want to use another case you’ll need an adapter for the front IO.

After doing some wattage calculation you may just be able to get away with using either GPU so if you can go for the GTX1050 2GB LP (I assume its the one from MSI) as you'll get better performance with it. The only down side is you'll be really close to the power supply's output limit. Here is the tool I used to calculate the Wattage: www.msi.com/power-supply-calculator

For a GPU upgrade it is recommended to upgrade the PSU as the stock one it unlikely to be able to provide the additional power requirements of the much more powerful card.

240 pin is DDR3. 288 pin is DDR4. The motherboard and cpu is only compatible with DDR3.

hey wouldn't it be easier to put the ssd on the top side of the optical drive? just saying...

eBay isn't a bad place to look the only problem is you need to be careful because you wont get any warranty from most sellers on eBay. Although if you can find a correctly sized PSU on somewhere like Amazon, Newegg or other more reputable sites then go for it and reply with the link as it may be good to put in the description and ill credit you for it.

A 300w PSU may work if your using the same configuration I did as it only uses about 250w of power although I prefer to have a 100w buffer zone to make sure all the components and devices are getting all the power they need. jamiebode.uk/2017/02/chrome_2017-02-08_17-53-41.png

This I don’t know about. You’ll have to check the Support section of the Lenovo site to see if there is bios downloads and If there is a way to install them.

The motherboards front IO headers are proprietary which means you’d need to make your own adapter to allow you to use things like the power button and led indicators

It will support the card but the case is not large enough. You need a low profile card like the gtx 1050 listed in the description. If you try to swap the case you’ll either need to make an adapter or require the front io of the new case which may not even be possible.

You would have no front USB, Power Buttons or LEDs. Unless you take the time to make your own adapter which to my knowledge no one has done for Lenovo front headers.

As I changed PSUs and didn’t want to use the integrated SATA power connectors on the motherboard and only get power directly from the new PSU I needed 1 extra SATA power connector as I still wanted the optical drive to work and I could use the adapter to plug one of the devices into the unused Molex connectors on the new PSU

If he is using intel integrated graphics you can fit a new graphics card in the empty slot if there is a slot for it and you may need to upgrade the power supply as it may not be strong enough depending on graphic card.

According to the service manual there is a PCI-E x16 graphics slot. And as the physical dimensions of the case look standard any descent graphics card and power supply should work although you still may need the 24 to 14 pin adapter.

Yes it should be fine you just may have to disconnect the optical drive as if your keeping the HDD there won’t be enough SATA power connectors

Useful information here, I'm looking at upgrading my pc for video editing. I've moved from an old version of sony vegas to premier pro cc. Its so slow. Does anyone here know how much ram i can put into the pc. It currently had two ddr3 4gb units but i want to swap them for dual 8gb units & replace the graphics card (gt720) with a 1050. Will these mods be a straight swap or will i need to make any other changes?

You should be ok if you make sure the GPU is a low profile card like the two in the description. The RAM situation should be ok but just get the manufacture max of 16GB if you can afford it as you’ll then have more than enough do do any tasks.

Once you insert the card and power on the computer windows may automatically install the drivers but I would recommend going to nvidia’s website to get the latest version and the GeForce experience software.

You should be ok as long as you make sure the card it in all the way and that it is secured with the screw or plate on the metal part of the card. And just be careful not to move the computer while it is powered as you don’t want the card to glitch most motherboards don’t support “plug and play (this means while the computer is on)” on the internal PCI-E sockets yet.

That is not likely going to be enough 500w should be a minimum just to make sure you have enough for when you are running anything intensive.

+NINI SHAHAZREENA From the quick google search the cases of the two seem similar but the components are slightly different generations. The upgrade process may be similar but I'd recommend checking with disassembles to see if the connectors that connect the PSU to the motherboard are the same or different.

The issue with doing this it Lenovo used a proprietary front panel header so the power button and USB ports won’t work unless you make a converter.
