Upgrading my Spector Dimension 5 for Drop Tuning
Here's a fun project I've had in the works for a while! I've had to wait a few weeks to get all the appropriate parts and send it off to the shop, but it's finally here - the Spector "Almost High Performance" Dimension 5!
I took an original Spector Dimension 5, but made it closer to the Dimension HP series by adding EMG 45TW and 45P pickups, plus a Darkglass Tone Capsule. I also filed the nut for thicker string gauges with G-standard tuning, and I added Hipshot Ultralite tuners to minimize neck dive!

Loved the tone and your playing as well. I want to know was EMG 45's direct fit to those Fishmans? Or you had to route the pickups cavity? Its strange because EMG 45's are for 6 string bass. And they put it in 5 string bass like dimension HP series. why did they do it i dont know. And where did you get those stacked DG preamp?

Thank you! Yes, the newer Dimension 5 models use 45's (6-string pickups). This made sure that the edges of the pickup properly captured the low and high string - when regular 5-string pickups are slanted, they're not long enough to span the range of the strings.
Great playing as always! The Spector sounds beast! Looking forward to seeing more videos with this one. Also - entirely in love with the green Strandberg NX8 you sold me. Dropped some Lundgren M8C’s into it and ditched the Fishmans, and it’s been my favorite guitar I’ve ever had my hands on. I went from maybe practicing once a week before the Strandberg to nearly every day now. Thanks again brother!

Sorry for the late reply! Lowest 142, highest 60. I don't remember the exact gauges in the middle, I think 118, 98, 80 ? It was a quirky mixture I made from Circle K strings! Thanks!
