You can use Google Assistant through SmartThings to turn it on and off and adjust the volume.

I am loving my sound bar system also, but it is not this one. I have the Nakamachi 9.2.4 Shockwafe, which is said to have the most immersive theater experience on any soundbar system. I have not listened to the Samsung, or any othe sound bar, but I can confidentally say that the one I have sounds as good or betttrer than any of them.

Nice Brett I have just this week changed from yamaha amp to lg atmos soundbar with rear speakers and loving it !

I have the SAMSUNG Q930B and it's sweet, no cables and less space is great. Sound is good if your more into hearing the dialogue of a movie.

I have the 2022 version. Great sound. I love it. Took me 3 days to set it up. The rear speakers are much bigger..

Finally a reviewer actually played the sound to test the soundbar unlike other time wasters just talk from speck and don’t really give us a test check.

Great video able to learn many things. I also own a q950t but unable to figure out best settings so can you please suggest which sound mode should I use for movies and what is the ideal setting for each speaker that will be great help

Do you have the Sub disconnect issue? After you turn off the sound bar for a period (few hours) and turn it back, the sub will connect (solid blue) but no sound output from it until you do a power cycle.

Just bought this but the rear speakers seem to be really quiet. I have them turned up as far as they go. My TV also doesn't support e arc..

Happy to know the smart things app has 1017.5 version now so didn't have to use USB. Loving this soundbar. Played ps5 with gamepro feature. Played valhalla sounded amazing could hear npc talking from the tiny speakers behind me and many other things. On ps5 sound setting I picked dolby rather then linear pcm, sounded better for some reason.

Hi Brett. Awesome in depth review. I have this soundbar, but I can't seem to find a way to raise the seperate rear speakers. I saw where you went over the volume control for the speakers, but it doesn't work for my rear speakers. Did I miss something?

I bought Q950T recently, unfortunately, I found light hissing/white noise at the right end side of Main Soundbar while operating and my ear is close to the spot. I have returned it and hopefully would get it replaced. Do you have the same issue when you get closer to the soundbar?

Great video. I recently bought this to go with my Q80T and the systems integrate well together. I definitely don't have as many issues as others are having. My TV paired seamlessly and the single remote turns everything on/off. I agree with the general gripe that the display should be front facing but given mine will pretty much live on eARC mode it's not too big of an issue. My only real gripe is that you can't really tell what soundmode is coming out of applications/devices etc. Well there's no easy way of telling if it's DTS or Dolby or whatever.

Hey I have the same set-up and was wondering did you change the digital output audio delay on the TV (the default is 100) or change the delay on the soundbar at all? I swear the delay changes depending what source or app I'm on and it's driving me nuts!

Ps5 offers sound mode settings for 2, 5, and 7 channel relievers. Do you think it's inadequate for playing sound through this system?

I can't get 5.1 working on Q950t with Stadia Chromecast Ultra. Anyone tried?

Hey man! I noticed you have a switch and I’ve heard that this sound bar doesn’t support LPCM. I’m not too tech savvy so I was just wondering if your switch audio works fine or like what the drawbacks are since you can’t change the switches audio to bitstream. Hi. Thanks for a very informative video. Have you experienced any issues with your Samsung Smart TV. not connecting to Smart Things. I have checked all the basics, like same network, whether TV is compatible, having location on, being logged into the account and all that, but for some reason, Smart Things just does not pick up my TV

To overcome the display issue place a rectangular prism cube on to of it hey presto you can see the display when seated

I have a Lg c9 , Samsung HW q-950t soundbar and a 2013 Sony 3d BLU-Ray Player BDP-S490 . I connected blu-ray player straight to TV and then used earc to pass audio . I put earc to on and selected passthrough in digital output option. Now when i play a blu-ray , the centre channel seems to not work properly or i think does not work at all. The info button on lg app says PCM . However when i select Auto instead of passthrough in the sound settings ,the centre seems to work fine. With passthrough selected in LG sound earc settings , i believe Blu-ray player does not decode audio and passes straight to soundbar , but the soundbar's centre channel mutes doing so . I think this seems to some PCM issue on the soundbar . However selecting to auto instad of passthrough , get's the centre channel working. Any thoughts or suggestion , why this is happening.

Hey Brett, always love your videos, even though I don't always say anything. I at least always try to leave a like, unless I'm watching from the TV interface, then i typically forget. Anyway I've been interested in exploring ATMOS, but I live in a 1 bedroom apartment so space is limited. I do have 5.1 sound bars from VIZIO though with wireless speakers that don't need power, they simply plug into the powered wireless sub. For the size of my setup I'm still happy with regular 5.1, if they make an ATMOS compatible setup for 5.1, and say in a 36 inch sound bar, then I might give it a go. Otherwise, I'll probably just stick with what I have. I do like the cleaner setup by the way, and have had zero issues with the wireless speakers disconnecting.

this vid is so confusing, he had audio drop out and changed the hdmi cable. then all of a sudden he goes in BT, and music so did you fix the audio drops outs?

Did you ever figure out what was causing the Audio cut out? Mine is doing that and driving me nuts!

I would go directly into the Q90T TV. It makes it much easier to use with the TV remote.

Thanks for this review. It seems like it should be able to emit a test tone that moves from speaker to speaker too help you adjust each speaker's volume for balanced listening. My Sony HT-Z9F soundbar has this feature, a front display, on-screen display, as well as a more comprehensive (more buttons) remote. But its rear speakers and sub aren't as robust. I suppose each system has its advantages. :)

@@TechWithBrett Turn the soundbar off and hold the sound mode button for 6 seconds. This should emit a test tone to all speakers.

How is it less wires when you have to plug in the rears? I have wired rears that only have thin speaker wire that is almost invisible.

You have to run speaker wire all the way to a receiver. This is just a power plug to an outlet. That's a lot less wires.

If the outlet is close I guess, but my speaker wire to my rears are thin and run along the baseboards behind furniture. Only one wire each, almost invisible and no outlets needed.

Hi, I bought the same system. Although the subwoofer is paired and working fine, the bass output is very low (although bass is coming out of the subwoofer as well). I have done everything I can including turning up the sub level, bass level, EQ in Smart-Things app etc. But nothing seems to work. How is your bass level in the system?. Any thoughts?

I have all the movies on the computer how will it work (the movies in Atmos)? The computer will connect to the sound bar directly Or to TV

I would try direct connect into the soundbar HDMI in to bypass the TV and see what happens. Good luck.

Well, let me know how this worked. Connecting to PC to soundbar is the best way to be sure to have perfect Atmos with True HD for example. But if your TV got eArc ... you should have the same result. If only Arc, you could get Atmod, but with the lossy format, Dolby Digital + for example. I have the same config as yours, so I am interested to know before buying it.

My left rear speaker can't connect a lot of the time, it's very frustrating. The other one is fine though.

why didn't you use tv+soundbar?

I just purchased the Q950T. I have a LG OLED tv with only ARC. From what I understand in your review, the only way to get the FULL details on the Atmos is to have a tv with E-ARC, or to add some kind of secondary audio device? Is it worth it for me to do all this? Will the sound be THAT much worse if I just connect it to the ARC? I don't want to spend so much money on the sounder only to not have optimum sound. Thanks in advance for your help! I really enjoyed your review!

Lg oled tvs with arc should still support lossy atmos.. Did you manage to get it to work?

This is the very best review of the HW-Q950T on KZread, and this guy also just did the very best review of the Q90T.I have both and I could say with absolute certainty that this guy was dead on with his assessment of both the soundbar and Tv. Definitely earned a new subscriber.

You should have tested original hdmi lead after firmware update to test if it was lead or not? If it was cable then samsung are supplying an incompatible lead?

most 4k samsung and sony tv will support dolby atmos, throw streaming like Netflix all the newer xbox support Dolby atmos throw streaming as well but not throw Blu-ray drive.

Does it connect to a PC? Does it provide atmos with a PC?

I’m so sorry if you already covered this (I have ADHD so literally couldn’t focus on the whole video for too long) but is there not a wireless/Bluetooth set up so that I don’t have wires all around my house? Wires really bother me!

Yes but the mounts are sold separately. Universal mounts seem to work.

did u use real dolby atmos sound?

My heart almost dropped when you first turn on the soundbar and that noise....darn! There were sooooo many sub and rear surround disconnection and popping sound issues reported on this soundbar I am still very wary about purchasing it. Also how long have you had the unit and are there any other new issues that popped up since the video upload? Many are still reporting problems even after the 1017.5 update. I will only be connecting this to my Sony X900F TV. Overall good review!

You may have a volume sync issue connecting this soundbar to a Sony TV because I had a Samsung Q60r soundbar connected to a Sony 65X950H and the TV volume would reach 100 and the soundbar would still be at 40 and the only way to sync the volume numbers was to mute and unmute the TV. I got the LG SN11RG instead and there are no sync issues

@@LubuKing U need to adjust the TV REMOTE CONTROL function on the Samsung soundbar by holding up on the subwoofer button while the soundbar is off, and cycle thru until u see (All-Remote) on the display. I got 2 Sony tvs both with Samsung soundbars and this fixed that annoying problem.

Thanks Brett. I also bought this soundbar last week. My thoughts: The need to cycle through inputs gave me problems integrating it with Logitech Harmony. The wrong input would often be set. I solved this by removing the inputs to the soundbar and connecting them to my TV instead. That way I can specify the input I require. I'm hoping to find a way to integrate Google assistant so I can play music from Spotify.

For Spotify, the two options would be to connect the Soundbar to the Google Home over Bluetooth and create a routine to turn on Bluetooth to play the music (this my cause issues with Harmony). The only option would be to get a Chromecast for your TV so that you can Cast Spotify to the TV and have it play out of the Soundbar.

Bought the Samsung yesterday and it sounds really good. However I’m disappointed with it because there’s next to no base at all. System has a bass boost function however if you use it you lose your doby atmos. Going to take it back in order the Sonos arc.

Did you notice a difference with Qsymphony on ?

It has a much more full sound from the front. I think I prefer to not include the TV so that I have a more balanced sound.

Hello I have purchased the q950t soundbar 2 weeks ago and I am still unable to setup the rear speakers and subwoofer. The problem seems to be that when I plug in the rear speakers and subwoofer to power after 2 red light blinks it immediately switches to rapidly blinking blue light. The id set button does not work and nothing changes. The soundbar works perfectly but I am limited only to this. Has anyone had any similar problem? Do you have any solutions?

apparently youre supposed to connect the subwoofer first, the rears second, and then the main soundbar. try this out
