That was great for the simple things that you try to replace or fix on a bike is always a puzzle which for me makes if very much fun, I am replacing a manual shifter for an electric one which has all the small challenges that you have experienced. The simplest things like the ones you changed on your bike can be a major problem for there are many ways do accomplish the task including the sledgehammer which I have not used yet when I had a close encounter when I owned a defective frame that would drop the chain on uphills….

You sold a bike! Can you tell which one? Isn't it time for a new "my life in bikes" video?

Well, the hammer was for the Brooks grips, and not for a Brooks vegan leather saddle. Too bad there's no machine to break in leather saddles to suit. Once the suffering is over with, those are the greatest.

The Cambium is not leather and doesn’t need breaking in.

Your subscribers have been telling you to "get a grip" for quite some time. The "grips" in the video is not what they meant!

The answer to the question of why are you replacing the grips when you haven't even ridden the bike yet is that no answer is required - your bike, your rules, no justification necessary! Grips are a very personal thing anyway, and an easy upgrade to make, or just something to do to make a bike 'yours' as it were. Can't wait to see this magnificent velocipede -wobble down the road- meet tarmac in anger for the first time though!
