Upgrade Festool CT 15 CT15E Dust Extractor Hose Garage and Save $200

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You can buy the hose garage from the Festool MINI/MIDI seperately and change out the one you get with the CT-15 which will allow you to store the hose and power cord. Bonus, you also then get a Systainer3 connection! Then you can get rid of the elastic strap that holds down the hose in the original configuration.

    @@ScottLascelles Best way is to Google for "Festool 204717". Make sure to read the description to verify it is this part number or says for MIDI/MINI/CT-15. You can usually get it at places like Tool Nut or US Tool and Fastener. For example (ignore that it says Bluetooth models MIDI/MINI since we are trying to put those on our CT-15). www.ustoolandfastener.com/festool-hose-garage-204717-ct-mini-midi-bluetooth-models/

    I just order mine thanks for the info! Also a small tip since the ct15 doesn’t have a remote I put a Christmas light remote with any with power. I use a small fan and it sends enough power to think it’s a sander or power tool turning on.

    Hi. Thanks for the video- I just bought the CT15 extractor and have been carrying around this extractor from my home to another space that I use for my sanding. Each time im done sanding, I have to pack the hose in a trash bag to bring it back home. Which also means I have to disconnect the hose from its socket inside the extractor- this causes a mess with sawdust falling all over the place. If i purchase this garage, would I be able to NOT disconnect the hose from its socket inside the extractor and just curl it up and house it... ? Thanks....

  • @handyhomerepairs

    @handyhomerepairs

    Ай бұрын

    @cavalli821 yes! I just tried it with mine and it bent easily while still plugged in to the vac port and wound nearly inside the garage even with the electric plug. This is with the gray hose that comes with the vac. I don’t think it would work well with one of the larger green hoses since they are more rigid and won’t bent at such a tight radius.

    If you sent it in for service with the new top you may have an issue. I just kept the old cover. It’s only a few screws to change so you can always go back to the original. There are no electrical or other special connections, just a plastic top.

  • @handyhomerepairs

    @handyhomerepairs

    11 ай бұрын

    @MIKEC2000 the old model with the gray hose was the CT-15 and the newer with the black hose is the CT-15E. I can’t remember if anything major changed, but maybe someone else can say if they know. It is still the same form factor as the MIDI/MINI and this upgrading of the garage still works. The model # 577413 is the same for the 15 and 15E so nothing much probably changed.

  • @RFC-3514

    @RFC-3514

    No, but you can buy it separately and it'll still be cheaper than buying a MIDI (and you'll have two hoses, which might be useful in some situations). If you decide to add the brake as well (which can be bought as a spare part) or the MIDI's manual filter cleaner (which I _think_ you can add to the CT15), then you're basically paying as much as you would for a MIDI, and you won't be getting Bluetooth, so there _is_ a point where the "upgraded CT 15 route" stops making financial sense. BTW, the CT 15 comes with a piece of plastic that covers the bottom half of the hole where the filter cleaner would go, and if you have a 3D printer it shouldn't be too hard to extend that (or make a whole new piece) that covers the bigger hole in the "hose garage". You might even be able to get creative and use the hole to store some small tool, like a brush. Another useful mod, if you don't feel like shelling out $120 for the "lifelong bag", is that you can sew a zipper on one end of a regular self-cleaning bag, which makes it much easier to empty and reuse those. Some people are actually selling modified bags on eBay (just a regular $7 Festool bag with a zipper).

    The new model, the CT 15 E (which replaces the old CT15) does have the antistatic hose.

  • @RYwoodview

    @@xeren45 Yes, I got it. Adding the hose garage, which I prefer to use for the slew of attachments. Easier to hang the hose up in one piece than mess around with all the little parts. Taped over the holes in front & on the side to keep them in. In addition, you can get 1-1/2" "expandable" hose sheath to go over the ribbed CT 15E antistatic hose which makes it smoother like the OEM green woven hose. For less than $100 then, the CT 15E becomes the equivalent of a MIDI less the Bluetooth, brake & filter cleaner, which in my small workshop are unnecessary.

  • @handyhomerepairs

    Yes. The CT 15s use the same base frame as MIDI and MINI but they just add this larger tool area, Bluetooth, etc for the more expensive models
