Fun
Nothing more exciting that demolition with a powerful saw
What’s with you people always using the name of your personal assistant do you not realize that you’re triggering everybody else’s?
Luckily I didn’t say, Alexa order 1000 snakes.
Seems easy enough. Thanks for demonstrating
Easier with good prep. Thanks for watching.
Hey, for the foil that meets the floor, did you tape it to the bottom plate or the floor?
No I left it open. I assumed it was like a window and you want to let by bottom be open in case any moisture got behind it and you want it to have a way to exit if it was dripping. There should not be any moisture or steam going up from the floor. The wall board are holding it tight to the strapping so it isn’t going to move
How much was the kit?
At the time it was like $19k for all the cedar and build materials. Had to pay shipping from Canada which was another $1k if I remember. I also had to pay for the concrete to be laid. A local contractor quoted me $70k for a cheap building with hardi board siding and cedar was a major upgrade, so building myself was like 20% of the cost. I also had so much cedar boards over that I was able to build a sauna inside the structure
Nice work my friend! That looked like a lot of work. Thanks for show the steps
Thank you. Yes! It was really hot the whole time and I was out there most of the day. Digging is tough and you have to admire the landscaper pros out there doing it everyday.
Wow it looks great! No more brown patches where grass can’t grow. A friend in TX is getting hers done costing over $16k for her 1100sq ft yard. Awesome job!
Thank you. I’m glad to see KZread isn’t all just angry Internet trolls. Wow that’s expensive, glad I saved a lot of $$$
Love it. Looks great on the details
Thank you. The small details take forever but patience makes a big difference in the quality
Excellent video and narration
Thanks for watching!
Looks good bro. More practical for people who have kids. How much in total does it cost and what’s the reaction of people who saw this in person?
Thanks. I got the Boise premium 65 from Home Depot it’s $3.33/ft2 when I bought it. Or a little under $50 per linear foot and it comes in 15’ wide. It was about $1500 and then I spent another $500-600 in install materials. The wife likes it and says it looks like it should be in a magazine cover lol so that’s the most important opinion. A few friends have asked me to help them install since they like it … will see how much they are willing to pay.
What I’m trying to figure out is what do you do if don’t have all the tiles that fell off. Mine is an older pool like yours where there are very intricate pieces.
I was missing a couple of the small tiles so I just filled those parts in with all grout but it’s only about 3/4” square. You can see it inside the skimmer. Otherwise maybe you can get something close and maybe a solid color and try to put it in an inconspicuous place like the skimmer walls if you can get those offer to switch
no mowing but looks awful and cheap
Thanks for watching anyways ;). Turf has come a long way and in small sections it looks nice.
I prefer grass over plastic
I do too most times, but sometimes with shady and other features, grass doesn’t grow well. Also the grass clippings make a mess in the pool. I was very surprised how far artificial turf has improved. There is brown blades intertwined in the base to look like dead grass.
Good work.
Beautiful work
Thank you. It was a lot of work.
What is the tile gap thing called? Thanks again for the vid!
Tile spacer. Thanks for watching.
One thing I wish I had done was to keep a small bottle of the unmixed ekopel to fix a few minor repairs after drying.
Yes, thought I’m not sure how long it would last once ingredients exposed to air. They sell a touch up kit but expense for a small patch. I still have some small areas I want to try to smooth with high grit sanding but still afraid to make it worse if I can polish it correctly
I should clarify about the holes in the drain. In many cases you want them down so the water floods up. Because I have clay, I want the water to have to come in from the top thru the most aggregate.
Are you for hire ?
Sorry I’m not. I’m sure a local handyman could replicate it though.
I've tried everything and they continue to fall off after a long while
You are using the tile set and not the grout product? If you are using the tile setting, when the tile falls off is the mortar still wet? If so, you are either mixing it a little too wet or the surface you are trying to stick to is too wet. Maybe water is leaking from the other side of the concrete?
Thanks for this video, it saved me calling an electrician.
hi, let me know the size of punch to remove pin and where i can buy the punch
The punch is 3/16" (about 5mm), so you can use anything that size or small such as 1/8" (about 3 mm) or 1/16" (about 1.5mm). I added a link in the description of the video for a cheap set on Amazon. You can buy punch sets at Home Depot, Lowes, or any automotive set. Just search for "Pin Punch" and check the tool has a flat end instead of some that are rounded.
Nice work. much easier than the drain burrito with the pipe, filter & stone
Thanks! Digging is hard work.
Your sauna looks amazing. Thank you for the video. I found it to be extremely helpful for my build. You explanation of he bench bracket, and high temp watertight conduit was very helpful. I'm installing the HUUM 7.5kW and had no idea high temp awg wire was a thing. I found Taking extra time to research is critical to the success of sauna building.
Thank. That’s awesome you were able to build a sauna too. I know it takes longer and maybe some people think they are necessary, but I only want to do a job once instead of having to come back later and fix a mistake. I also want things to be safe for my family.
Thank you! The instructions with this sauna were a nightmare this made life so easy
You are welcome. I know what you mean, I spent a long time looking for examples or other videos and everything was limited.
Hi. Thanks for the video- I just bought the CT15 extractor and have been carrying around this extractor from my home to another space that I use for my sanding. Each time im done sanding, I have to pack the hose in a trash bag to bring it back home. Which also means I have to disconnect the hose from its socket inside the extractor- this causes a mess with sawdust falling all over the place. If i purchase this garage, would I be able to NOT disconnect the hose from its socket inside the extractor and just curl it up and house it... ? Thanks....
@cavalli821 yes! I just tried it with mine and it bent easily while still plugged in to the vac port and wound nearly inside the garage even with the electric plug. This is with the gray hose that comes with the vac. I don’t think it would work well with one of the larger green hoses since they are more rigid and won’t bent at such a tight radius.
@@handyhomerepairs Thanks so much! Curious if it might void the warranty given that the garage is not meant for the CT15. May be i can try it after 3 years once my warranty expires lol
If you sent it in for service with the new top you may have an issue. I just kept the old cover. It’s only a few screws to change so you can always go back to the original. There are no electrical or other special connections, just a plastic top.
@@handyhomerepairs ok thanks.
Drink some water my friend
Next narration I will keep water by my side lol
How does the fence install on the side of unit?
There is a brackets attached to the side with a 90* connection point. The screws slide in the circular adjustment area to change the angle
It comes with wheels?
No. I tapped holes on the bottom and add some screw in locking casters. I have to move it in and out from my garage and it’s too heavy to carry.
Glad I went with separate machines, having to swap back and forth is kind of counter-intuitive LOL. I have room in my shop for the 2 machines so its not an issue....in a limited space situation this combo would work, but having to swap parts around would aggravate me LOL.
Yes, separate machines are better. I just adjust the workflow so I don’t have to got back and forth in modes multiple times
Thanks for your help.
You are welcome. Thank you for watching.
I'm curious to know if you had any particular issues on the overall build of the Sanara
No issues. Mine was precut so I had to put everything together but it made it easier to be able to move by myself. I didn’t like the really rough texture of the siding and beams because I have kids so I sanded everything. This is supposed to void the warranty on the siding but it’s fine because I finished everything. Everything was cut accurately and the directions were very easy to follow. I have never built any building this size but it was easy and a fun project
How do you keep the tiles flush and even as you piece it together so its a smooth surface?
Use a level or other type of straight edge that is a long as workable in the space you are tiling. Check each row and across multiple tiles so you are not just making them level to the one next to it and end up making gradual mistakes. I have a couple videos on tiling in my playlists for the bathroom remodel that may help demonstrate. I tile the wall and the floor.
@@handyhomerepairs Thank you. Another question - there are large cracks along the wall surface where the thinset would go. What did you use to fill those in?
It is in the video description but you can find at Home Depot or anywhere. It’s just drylok crack filler. The same company that makes the paint for sealing cinder blocks. My walls of pool had cracks (which is what caused the tiles to fall off) so I sealed the cracks.
Very good review.
Thanks for watching.
Congratulations 👏 U did a very nice job !!! Thanks to share with us 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Swollen nuts really a thing?
I read they are two part with a sleeve that can separate. I’m not sure if the previous owner replaced them or they have the sleeve problem, but they were definitely not 3/4” and tire iron was too small. A 7/8” socket fit them better
This video was a joke? 😱
Nope. That’s how you refinish an old tub and it’s been working great.
show us yours
I can’t on YT platform or I will get flagged. Check out my Only Fans site featuring this epoxy tub.
~ I was kinda thinking if’s U had punched a Hole in the top of Ur Cup .... it may stay put, instead of Float...
I’m not sure if there was internal pressure that caused it to float or if the epoxy is much more dense and just flowed under the edge. It’s worth a try.
How long does it last?
I have heard 5-10 years but there are probably a lot of variables. If you have acidic or alkaline water it will probably stain faster than the original. If it gets direct sunlight epoxy can yellow. If you did. It apply it correctly it could start peeling. If it gets chipped or scratched it could allow peeling to start. I have had mine for almost a year and it is as good as the day installed it.
That’s some gorgeous plywood you’re working with. What species of wood is that? And I’m guessing that you got it at a lumber specialty store?
I actually got that at Home Depot in the small plywood section, but it’s birch plywood so less holes and voids. I was planning on going back and replacing the faces with hardwood but after using it for a while now I realized you never see it and even going down on my hands and knees and inspecting you can’t see any edges so nothing fancy is required
Yo.. TURN YOUR PIPE WRENCH AROUND WHEN TIGHTENING!! Top of the wrench is ment for pulling. Bottom is ment to push!
lol I’ve heard this a couple times. It gets distracting when I’m worried about the camera and the scene
I watch this video where he tested several competitors. Glad I picked the eckopel. Even with a 5-1 tool he couldn’t scratch the finish. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqJ1xKSEctPYnpc.htmlsi=Rjl1ib6T8HcUJYE8
Great. I didn’t mind paying a little extra for a quality product that will last many years and I don’t have to refinish it
In theory a good idea but as with most combo tools it doesn't seem to do either function very well. I love the helical cutter head for both functions. Maybe in future models some improvements can be made. As for me I think I'll wait and take a look at next years model.
I think you are correct. There are trade offs and it may be your only option if working in a garage. I like the planer and the edge jointer. Face joining is a bit of a struggle
did you use pressure treaded lumber for the base plate of your walls? Im planning out my own sauna project, but I wasnt sure if mixing a confined space, heat, and the chemicals in pressure treated lumber is a good idea.
@danieleshbach6711 yes, anything that touches concrete needs to be pressure treated or it will rot from the moisture in the concrete. I was also thinking about the chemicals in this wood, but it should not be an issue because the temperature at the floor is much lower than higher up. Don’t finish any wood on walls or seating because this could cause an issue. They do make some special oils for treating sauna seating to keep from staining from sweat but I did not use it and have not seen any problems.
@@handyhomerepairs Thanks for the response and perspective. I was leaning this direction but it's great to hear a perspective from someone who's done this project. Thank you!
Have to replace a garage overhead wall while standing. Can only get to one side because of brick face on front of house. This will help drive nails in places I can't reach with a framing nailer. Especially the area behind the king stud to nail the header in place. Major termite damage, fortunately the trusses are not involved. Going to have to strap my top plates as there will be less than 4' between breaks.
Sorry to hear about termite damage. That is stressful. I have found so many uses for this tool when working in a tight space. It’s also good when I’m afraid of swinging and damaging anything else I don’t want to hit.
Thanks for the review. Looks like a hassle. Now I’m not so sure about this thing.
It’s all about what makes sense for your workflow and what space you have. I don’t have enough room for 2 pieces of equipment so this is what I have to work with. After some practice I make it function in combination with a good table saw to clean up the edge joints
How much would someone charge for that repair?
Not really sure, but around me the contractors don’t want to do any work under $2,000 USD. It would be more than a 1 day job.
@@handyhomerepairs Well I just did 4 3”x3” for $60 for an old lady. 🤷🏿♂️ it took me 15 minutes so I would feel bad charging any more than that. They rest of the tiles need grout so that would be a separate price I guess if she wants to regrout the whole pool.
Yes. If you can find a reliable handyman like yourself that will charge a fair rate by the hour then that is great. It’s the overhead of companies that have to support staff and the business. Most times they just farm it out to a subcontractor anyways and just take profit off the top so they overcharge
Ďakujem veľmi pekne, pomohla mi tvoja rada 😊
Rado sa stalo. ďakujem za sledovanie
I've been looking at doing this as an option during a recent renovation in my own bathroom. (For the purpose of our background, we are building company in the UK and have installed many bathrooms during larger domestic building projects - since 1980.) The reason I entertained this idea was to save time replacing the bath tub, and associated tiling works involved. I have to say, and although I bet there are guys out there who've done a pretty good job at this...I do not see the point in going to this effort in being 'precise' and trying to ensure that a smooth and seamless look is achieved, when essentially, you're working really HARD (and under pressure) to try to achieve a passable result. I have full respect for the work involved and efforts made in this video! I just feel that ultimately it is less pressure for guaranteed gain to replace the whole unit - including the time involved cost. Remove lower layer of tiles, get the bath out = two hours. Replace bath with new, plumb in to existing waste with new trap = 1/2 day - 1 day. Tile down onto bath (assuming you can source same tiles) = 1/2 day. Guaranteed the best outcome. Worst case scenario? You could apply new tiles on top of tiles? Glue Aqua Panels to existing tiles? etc etc Wishing you all the best dudes ;o))0
I understand your perspective. The problem with the cast iron tubs are they are really heavy and jammed tight into the space. I’m working by myself so I would not be able to lift it out and would need to break it into fragments. Then load it into the truck and take it to the recycling center. Then bring a new heavy tub back and find help. I don’t like the newer acrylic tubs they scratch too easy
Does the grout patch that fell into the water adhere to the pool surface? How do you clean up particles which fell in ? I’m concerned about clogging the drain pipes and filter.
@debrafoster-brunst8582 I did not have any filter issues. Unless you dropped really big pieces, it will mostly fall apart with all the water around it. I was opening my pool so I already had the vacuum out and used it to clean up. Then I ran the Polaris pool vac to clean everything else. I also did not have anything stuck to the wall and used the pool brush to push everything around and break it up a little before I vacuumed
@@handyhomerepairs thank you so much for your reply. Great video.
DIY'er here... used it for the first time today... did 2 tubs... they look great... will see tomorrow when it's cured...
Awesome. I think I could have done better after using the first one as a “practice”
