Well it’s about time we get a whirlpool badge in the mix here! love that style softener cup as well! It’s nostalgic. I still have two of the whirlpool dispensers leftover that are a year or two old that I don’t know what to do with since selling my whirlpool, they’re just laying around now and won’t sell on marketplace. One is this one you have now, other one is the newer/smaller style like Jaykay18s machines have.

I have wanted a Whirlpool machine for a while. Only thing is my dream kenmore machine popped up. I prefer this style Whirlpool softener cup as well. I’m not sure why they removed the grills on top. The newer style ones have that big cavity which splashes out softener

@@MatthewJames-st5wv Yes I can attest to that my tub ring would be saturated in softener splatters.

I’m not sure if this applies to this machine, but try detaching the left lid hinge and then push it down into the closed position to disable the switch. I like thees videos.

It doesn’t. Because the machine has an electronic control panel it knows when the lid is open and closed. If I bypass the lid switch like I usually do, the machine thinks the lid is always closed. So the machine doesn’t let me start the next cycle.

@@MatthewJames-st5wv Just another reason why I’m not to crazy about electronic controls on whashing machines. Thees were smart washers made before smart washers were common.

I've never been fond of electronic controls and this is one of the reasons. They are not as versatile as the mechanical controls and they supervise elements of the machine such as the lid switch that could otherwise normally be bypassed. Still a super neat machine and absolutely worth owning. I've always liked the design of the Whirlpool agitators and I'm also quite fond of this control panel design as it's similar to the machine I had (that one was obviously a much lower model with mechanical controls). How is the neutral drain on this one? Is it working reliably or slipping?

Agreed. I was told the neutral drain was rebuilt along with the new motor coupler and clutch. Based on from what I’ve seen that would all appear to be true. The machine neutral drains without any issue it has never slipped into spin yet

Wow, it looks great. Lots of luck with it. These were considered top-of-the-line and their day.

Could I see the perm press causal cycle with the catalyst option on at some point? Edit: try to wash a blanket or some towels

As soon as I figure out to get the lid switch permanently bypassed, yes.
