Scar, my sons Harrison (10) and Riley (7) have been watching the hermitcraft vidoes for a couple of seasons and are minecraft mad. You are Riley's favourite hermit, so he was delighted when he saw this video - you're just like him! Riley has chronic lung disease, cerebral palsey, an undiagnosed neuromuscular disorder and a gastro-jejunal feeding port. Seeing someone he admires talking about the same sort of issue he's going through on a daily basis has been a real inspiration. Obviously we were gutted to hear about the current complications you're having and the surgery this has required and wish you a full and sppedy recovery. But this video has been a real inspiration for Riley - seeing someone with the same issues he has and facing them with the same focus on the positive he struggles to maintain (and we understand it is a struggle) has meant the world to him. I don't know if you do this, but a shout out to Riley (and Harrison) on or around 22 Feb would make his 8th birthday something special, but I understand if not - you probably get hundreds of requests. I’m a microbiologist that works with pigment-producing bacteria and knew immediately when you mentioned blue drainage that it was Pseudomonas :( it’s such a bugger with opportunistic infections in immunocompromised pts. and those with colonizable medical equipment. Thankfully Pseudomonas infections are well studied and treatable so here’s to hoping you’ll soon be on the road to recovery! Wishing you the very best Scar.❤️

@AliSand Physical and mental illnesses can often feel very isolating, and like nobody understands what you're truly going through. I wanted to show both support and understanding for the time he took to explain exactly what was causing the infection. I know the challenges Pseudomonas can present, just as he does. While we can never know what someone is truly going through, we can do our best to to show our understanding through other ways, whether its words of encouragement or sharing our awareness of his illness. Best wishes, I hope this clears up my intentions.

My daughter is currently battling luekemia and the things you have gone through recently really do hit home so I can completely understand the hardship. Too many people in the world sadly suffer like this daily and you all are true inspirations. Ive been watching Scar for years. Every time he makes me smile. He's gone through the darkest depths of life, with the some of the worst of health issues known to me- But. he's always so positive. no matter what he goes through, even in this video, (that made me cry) he had that smile on his face. He is a hero, a person to look up to, not because he went through it, but as he swim teacher said, what you do/react to the things in life that matter. no matter how much life brings him down, he's determined to bring joy to us and others. thats what makes him a hero. he is a role model to anyone. Scar, we are all with you and all support you , no matter how long it takes to heal, we want you to rest until you feel as good as you need. take of as much as you need. Scar I’ve only had one surgery and I was so freaked out that they didn’t even tell me it was surgery. I can’t imagine how scary something like this would be to me but knowing how you are taking this, how brave you are makes me feel better for any future surgery I will need.

As someone with a chronic illness I know how quickly things can take a turn for the worse, keep moving forward you got this. It all works out in the end.

My husband, 3 year old son and I have survived the past 2 years with `pizza and minecraft` nights where we make a pizza and watch our favorite hermitcrafters. My son wasn't able to say much when we began, but he always asked to watch minecraft `times wif scar` first. We all enjoy hermitcraft so much, and hope all goes well for you. Seeing Scar about to break down there at the end hit me in the feels. Here's the thing Scar - you don't owe us, your viewers, anything; and you aren't letting us down. Everyone that follows you understands you have unique challenges and so many things are outside of your direct control - and that's honestly what makes every bit of content we do get from you special. Don't worry about what you haven't been able to do; focus on the fact that you've added humor, art, and value with what you have been able to do. We all appreciate that.

youtubers feel like no matter what if they don’t upload they owe their viewers something, which is very sad as a situation like this. it is very sweet but i feel bad for scar apologizing. he deserves the world, and if anyone should be saying sorry it’s us for not giving him enough love he needs, because he deserves all the love in the world

Do not EVER apologise for anything of this. You are doing SO much already and we appreciate every second of it. It's a gift already

I love that quote from your swim coach and I love the fact that you're trying to apply that in your life. Optimism can be hard, BUT! You've got it! You have a lot of people holding their fingers crossed for you and I hope that you will feel a lot better after such a crazy year once you recover from the surgery. i am so amazed that through all this you smile and laugh the whole way. it’s so inspiring that you took the time to still make content for us and i’m so grateful that you did. it broke my heart hearing about the plans you lost out on and i know how depressing being sick can feel at times. sending so much positive energy your way and i hope recovery comes smoothly and soon.

I LOVE your way of talking about "the people in the red vests". Its that kind of humor in the face of terrible circumstances that I think is the key to making it through life's challenges. When my grandma had to go in for a heart valve insert she insisted that afterward we call her "Super G-Mom" because she was now an "improved" version of herself, faster stronger and a bigger heart all that jazz. @@messynessie4417 I swear on every single popular video I see, there are hundreds of bots spamming inappropriate links in replies. These people so terrible, even more so when it’s on a kid-friendly channel.

As a primary care physician during this pandemic, I can tell you that you hit the nail on the head with the struggles in healthcare right now (and just in general). Not everyone will understand the terminology or gravity of everything you talked about in your video but it sounds like you have had a really rough go of it recently and have a big journey in front of you. As I sit here in my season 8 swaggon hoodie, I want you to know that you make a difference in peoples lives. You bring so much joy to this world and you have countless people sending all the love out into the universe for you. You have every reason to be scared and emotional with the struggles you have faced. Please talk to your PCP if you are not feeling well emotionally. You have so many physical things happening at once that it is easy to overlook mental health in times of physical health crisis. I wish you the absolute best in your upcoming surgery and subsequent recovery.

As an EM resident, this is incredible, Scar has been really, really sick and I would be very worried getting a neutropenic guy with a pseudomona infection in my ER. It's amazing he's healthy enough to do this video. Good luck Scar!

I have some health issues due to a back injury, but I have to say you definitely are much stronger than I am Scar. To hear the energy and tenacity in your voice as you talk about your health issues and the determination as you describe what you will do when you recover is inspiring. Speedy recovery Scar, looking forward to Swagon 2.0 and the Terra-Base.

As someone who also has a Neuromuscular condition I know how complicated going under for surgery can be. From all of us at PillbugCraft Wishing you the best and can’t wait for your return.

Scar, this is the closest I have ever come to see you holding back a tear, and although I can only offer words of encouragement, I want to let you know that the healthcare workers are all doing the best they can to save lives everyday. You will be well taken care of during surgery and on the road to recovery soon enough. I’m so sorry you have to deal with all of that Scar. You’re a trooper for being as optimistic as you are.

If you feel like it, please take a break, it can be as long or as short as you like. Hermitcraft season 9 doesn't matter, after it comes season 10 and 11 and 12, it's not like it's the last time you could ever have fun. Your health and wellbeing should be the most important thing to you, and we are feeling partially with you! Consider yourself and don't care too much about others when you are the one who actually needs help, because the others which you cared for when you were alright are now happy to share the help back to you. Much love from me at least, I loved you since I found you.

I'm 27 and on top of my nerve disease, I developed sympathetic heart disease this year. It's put a big weight on my life and I never know if I'm going to wake up and it's scary. It's a huge inspiration seeing others deal with heavy illness keep their heads up and continue to make content. I've had widespread nerve disease for years and breathing and moving lately has been so difficult. Thanks for your inspiration.
