You've been poked enough! ;)

Hey Scar, (7:23) you may not have been able to open your eyes at the time because your eyelids were taped closed. We do this in anesthesia to prevent corneal abrasions or other damage to the eye throughout and after the procedure. Numerous wires and anesthesia lines run from the patient to the machine, and many can make contact with the patient's face by accident. Plus the process of managing the airway introduces harm that can be prevented by simply covering the eyes. Usually, the tape/Tegaderm is taken off long before you wake up (to assess pupil dilation, etc).

Scar is simply one of my favorite humans. He's up there with amazing people like Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, and Bill Nye to me. It makes my heart so happy hearing his voice, every "ooooo hello there and welcome back.." brings a smile to my face. Such a beautiful and inspirational person, seeing what all he goes through, yet he keeps a smile and a laugh and brings joy to others. Also, seeing Scar coming back from recovery with his beard grown out slightly makes him look the part of an intrepid adventurer who's conquered an dangerous quest for survival, like a character right out of one of the stories Scar puts into this builds. Love you Scar, glad you're doing better, stay strong!

As someone with diabetes, I can assure you that yes, 38 is very very low. You’ll feel like death if it gets that low, guaranteed. You did quite well, really, for 38. That’s really scary. Lowest I’ve ever been is 36 and I proper blacked out. Scar, I’m relatively new to following your channel. Idk if you’ll see this, or if I’m just a voice echoing into the cyber abyss. But for whatever it means to you, or anyone else who sees this, I’ll still try and give a bit of hope, to pass on the hope I’ve been given. I experienced some medical trauma when I was quite young, and it still haunts me to this day. I’m seeking therapy, I’m making progress. It just takes time. I have a slew of health conditions- I joke about collecting them like baseball cards, or plague bingo. 4 autoimmune disorders and counting, and an assortment of other chronic health issues, and I doubt I’ve gotten my last. And some sort of unknown, unrelenting pain. I lived at a 5~7 level pain for years. It’s bothered me most of my life, but it just slowly got worse and worse. Past four or so years, it’s been completely debilitating. About a mere month ago, I was at breaking point. I very seriously considered taking my own life. “When will this end? Will all my efforts go in vain? Not just to live, but to just live long enough to finish my purpose? To somehow leave behind healing and hope for others like me? What could I ever do?” I was so scared, so hollowed, giving up hope. Then, I stumbled across one of your videos. I watched you and Grian having the greatest time, I saw your incredible, gorgeous builds. I heard you laugh. I imagined, “what if I lived to laugh like that? To be happy again?” As simple as it seems, that was enough to get a foothold. And now, a little over a week ago, we finally, finally, figured out what was causing my chronic pain. I’ve never *not* been in pain. It’s… a little frightening, really. I’m scared I’ll wake up, that this is a dream. But I know deep down, this is real. I’m alive, free. And for the first time, I can think, truly understand, so much more clearly without the pain constantly hazing my thoughts. I know now, not a tear went to waste. I don’t know what you believe, Scar, but I’m praying for you. My Jesus has brought me this far, and He’s more than proved Himself to me. There have been times I was so sick I couldn’t even whisper a prayer. Just the weakest thought, of hope, for some sort of sign this wasn’t all in my head, or that I would make it through the night. And so many times, He’s sent me a blue feather (a sign of hope), or a song, or a verse, or a message from a friend right as I was about to give up. I have been on the brink of shattering so many times. But He never let me break. Right as I could take no more, miraculously, help would come. He watches over me so faithfully, even when I’m so distracted or defiant. I know now beyond doubt, that everything happens for a reason. I don’t know what you believe, Scar, what keeps you going on the dark days. But I know now, that even if my own healing is temporary, I know what’s going to keep me going. I would go through it all again, and I’d be able to smile despite the pain, because I have proof of how much I’m loved. How much I’m worth. As different as our lives may be, I don’t doubt we both know how incredibly fragile life is. How close death is, that it could come at any moment and we couldn’t do a thing to stop it. But for that very reason, I want to live. Every day is a priceless blessing, and I won’t wait to live, any longer. No more fear. I’m going to live free. And I hope you can, too, no matter how long it takes to heal, no matter what healing looks like for you. I pray that each day you’re given will fill up and overflow with golden joys and indescribable triumphs. I pray you will heal, and that it will stay. I pray you discover how much you are loved, not just by us, the people you inspire, but by the One who created you. Because He saw that this world is so full of pain, that life is so hard and days get dark. So… He decided to make you ❤️ Thank you, Scar. Everything happens for a reason; God used your video to, more than likely, save my very life. In turn, I hope this message somehow reaches you, and anyone else who’s known such suffering, and maybe, just maybe, save someone else’s life. God bless you all. Stay safe, and hold on. You are loved more than you can imagine ❤️

I’m on my husbands account so obviously I’m not “Michael”. To momma Scar and daddy scar, I am the mother of 4 boys, now three. (You never know what life is going to throw at you.) I want to thank you. Thank you for giving us this wonderful gift in your son. I listen to other people who know him, hermits and fellow Minecraft KZreadrs, that have nothing but accolades and love for him. Some of them though successful themselves aspire to be as much like him, take inspiration from him in both his talent and attitude. Whatever you did raising him, you got it right. Thank you for continuing to care for him through ups and downs in his health. Thank you for keeping his fans updated throughout his procedures and recovery. Those photos were a very intimate and vulnerable look into your lives. Just know that we love and treasure the creativity, the laughs, the joy he brings to people who are down, the positivity he gives to people who find themselves with medical problems of their own, and the shenanigans your son shares with us. This last ordeal must have been exhausting. Please get some rest, and give scar an extra big hug from my family and I. He is such a treasure. P.s. if scar tries to start working too early or too much, one parent from another, ground him please. “No computer for you mister!” Love-The Gages

At first I was upset my mom and dad had to stop me from going to Law School and take 2 years break and finishing my last year, but then realized they did it for me not to stress myself out further and get more infection. Kudos to all the parents like you, mama scar and daddy scar for taking care of their adult kids.

To Scar’s parents on the off chance they ever see this: I’m not good with words but I guess the best I can do is “thank you.” I know how shitty life can be in hospitals (not to the extent that Scar does) and knowing you have someone beside you ready to take you home when things are all better can be so comforting. So thank you, Scar’s parents, and keep being strong, Scar!!

What a nightmare. My mother also has a neuromuscular illness (MS), which is autoimmune as well and we have to worry about things hanging around in her way longer than they should. Recently she had a horrible reaction to a horsefly bite, which turned into this awful rash on her back that lasted for over a month. I think people don't always realize how hard it is for someone with a compromised immune system to recover from any sort of infection. Glad you are finally on the mend and were able to get this sorted out. BTW, I get the frustration surrounding medicine allergies. Your medical history follows you EVERYWHERE and all these doctors and nurses can EASILY look up your info and check to see what is listed as an allergen. It is completely inexcusable that you have to tell them not to give you things you are allergic to. Same thing has happened to my mother; she's allergic to the contrast dye they use for MRIs, to the point where it causes severe anaphylaxis. She has to tell them every time she goes for an MRI that they cannot give that to her. Maybe, just maybe, my mom doesn't want her airway to close up!

thank you for these update videos and talking about this, it makes me feel so much better about my own chronic illness - i have genetic disorders and am a mobility aid user, and i had an appointment today with needles and tubes in my arm and i was feeling awful about needing the extra help, and having the representation and solidarity from someone i admire really, really helps

I personally have reflections of certain parts of my life where I go, “Wow I could never do that now.” For you scar I have so much respect and I’ve never struggled with chronic illness so I can’t speak of any struggles close to what you’ve experienced. Of course when it’s apart of your life it’s just what you’re used to but you are an amazing human. You always show so much positivity and resilience. I admire you very much.

@IndependentOreo PYC I agree. If someone who struggles with depression meets someone who struggles with anxiety, depression, and ocd, it doesn't mean their struggle with depression isn't valid (I'm sorry if I worded that poorly)

Scar, you have such a tremendous amount of resilience, you're an inspiration to so many people. I hope you have a smooth and full recovery. To Scars parents: You've raised a wonderful son. This must have been hard for you too with all the stress, worry and anxiety. Remember to take time for yourselves to recover emotionally when you can. You're all stronger than you realise, just take care of yourselves.
