Hi there. Not sure if I should choose to be a dual citizen in the Philippines. I am currently in NYC and plan on retiring in the Philippines. My issue is my passive income from my U.S. brokerages. Does the Philippine government tax your US passive income if you become a dual citizen and residing permanently in the Philippines. I read that the BIR does but the question is would they actually enforce this and track you down eventually. I plan on living using my dividend income from the US but I am hesitant on becoming a dual citizen due to taxation of this type of passive income if and when I permanent retire in the Philippines. Should I worry about this? Let me know your thoughts, experiences, and feedback from other dual citizens living in the Philippines who have significant passive income from US/abroad. Thank you po

US and Philippines has a tax treaty. No double taxation.I am a dual.I file US taxes every year. And in the Philippines they automatically take out the VAT on your Philippine bank account and Philippine Investment accounts. I did Dual Citizenship so I dont need to get a visa to stay permanently in the Philippines.Goodluck be safe😇

@@nicholasdeguzman4241 Hi thanks for the quick reply. But even if there is a tax treaty to avoid double taxation, Are you required by BIR to declare your U.S. investment income ( dividends/interest/.capital gains) since these type of income sources are included in your worldwide income? Sorry for the bother
