UPDATE Family Dumped & Absed Me When They Thought I Wasn't Dad's Son By Mistake. Relationship Advice

I don't think the technical details will matter a lot, so I'll get right down to business.
4 years ago, dad found out my mom had a life long affair (more than one, but that's another story). He knew about a couple of affairs she had in the past and forgave her, hanging in there for the kids, moving on, yada yada
But that time (4 years ago), he found out me and my two siblings might not be his kids, considering time of affair.
This was the first time we all heard of mom's, well, everything really.
There was a whole DNA thing and it turned out my siblings were my dad's, and I was not.
Cool right. So dad leaves mom, divorces her, moves out, takes both my siblings with him. Not me though.
Story 1:
[Update] Family left me (18M) when they thought I wasn't my dad's son but now they want to get back in touch
Story 2:
I found out my father (48M) and I(18F) aren't related. He left the house and filed for divorce.

It is why you always gets these types of tests done a minimum of twice, by separate labs if possible. Especially if you are going to dump and abuse a kid if it is not yours. There is always a chance of a lab mess up, the more over worked the lab the greater the chance. Get the same results it is likely right, get different results, go again to confirm.

2nd story, the dad probably feels two very difficult and conflicting emotions towards this situation. His wife has snatched the daughter out of his life and that his wife has also robbed his daughter of a father. But also, the fact that he calls and is concerned about her, shows he still cares and wants to be there for her. Hi apprehension probably comes from him now not feeling comfortable as an older man who loves a younger woman he isn't related to like a daughter. He probably still wants to be a dad to her, but knows doing so would manoeuvre himself into a situation where people will probably say all the wrong things about him, just because he wants to be a good person. No good deed goes unpunished. Either other people will pick up the story and then question why he is still in her life and make "conclusions", or the ex wife may throw the idea at him or tell other people behind his back just to spite him.

Also, Gramps is the triple OG and Major MVP. He made sure you were taken care of. Oh, that final edit is awesome! The dad is stuck broke and with the affair partner's kid. I hope the younger kid is his because that's his only kid. Second story, OP should give him time. He's going through the biggest lie of his life. His marriage was a sham and his child isn't his. Depending on the circumstances I can't say I fault every man who leaves when finding out the child isn't biologically his, personally I would still encourage them if they had been part of their lives for almost a decade. However I have seen when men who continue to raise the child because they say screw genetics that's my kid only to have it backfire when the kid wants to be with their actual bio father and tosses them aside. However if you make the decision to leave you can't try to waddle your way back into their lives when regret bites you in the ass like I have seen many other men. Life is full of risk, and whether you stay or go you must accept the risk and consequences of your actions do to your relationship with the child.

I sympathize with this guy. My birth mom’s best friend (my mom) adopted me because she didn’t want me to go into the system. I should mention that she has made some horrible decisions since having me. I’m very happy with my family and no one has ever tried to hide anything about my birth mother from me. She was allowed to send letters, and before we moved I even visited her in jail a few times. But then when I was in 3rd grade, she stopped sending letters. I wasn’t very hung up about it and forgot about her. As I got older, my mom stopped sugarcoating how bad of a person my birth mother was sometimes. She also told me about how she attempted to let my aunts and uncles visit me, but they refused to unless she gave them gas money. Everything was fine until they started trying to contact me again. Apparently my birth mother wanted to talk with me again, but in person. They asked me mom, who asked me, and I said no but she was free to send letters. They wouldn’t take that and started asking around my adoptive family. They even asked my brother for pictures of me. Luckily no one responded, but now I’m reluctant to even get letters from them.

"Not finding biological father" Until she has an illness or something or suddenly decides what her actual ancestry was. This is why paternity fraud is so damaging. All those saying DMA doesn't matter are deluding themselves. Eventually this young woman will seek out her biological relatives or they will seek her out after taking a DNA test. The father has lost that special bond. She now has two fathers. He is not unique in her life any more.

I had the best mom and dad I could ever want, and even though they're dead now, they were all I needed. My younger brother was also adopted, and feels the same. When my mom passed away, I was given an envelope with both mine and my brother's adoption certificates. After talking to my brother, the envelope remains unopened in my safe. If you want to rebuild a relationship, then you have to help dispel some of those fears. Let him know that you have zero intention of ever involving your bio dad in your life. If you don't want to do that and think you have the right to get to know your bio dad, then that's fine. Just don't be shocked when your "dad" feels replaced and chooses to cut you out.
