HD clip of Union Pacific's 844 Steam Special from Thursday, November 17, 2011. First as the train departed westbound out of Indio, CA shorthy after a water stop. Then further west as it crossed Beaumont Ave exiting San Timoteo at the mouth of the canyon near Loma Linda, CA.

Great looking Alco Steamer. 1947 to 1952 I use to throttle jerk the old Baldwin Steamers with Santa Fe Railway, I have a lot of memories with these great old Steamers.
@TrainTrackTrav 1996 had to pull the train and 844 backwards off the Phoenix Line. They were afraid 844's tender couldn't make it around the wye in Phoenix, so the consist was changed at Picacho going on and off the Phoenix Line. 1996 and the aux tender were moved to the rear of the train. Check some of the videos from Arizona (espec. Coolidge, Gilbert, Tempe, Phoenix, etc) to see that.
