The Armor was a joint venture between Britain and America. My father was one of the designers and engineers. Germany did not come into the project until the end. Let’s also remember this tank one of the first manufsctured. Thus model is not what the US uses today.

@@Krrypton58 Nope. It is the most modern one. The only difference is the depleted uranium armor, everything else is modern. The original Abrams tank had a 105 mm caliber gun. This one has the most modern one 120 mm caliber. Moreover this is a specific version of a tank from 2022 designed specifically for the ukr. conflict.

I think the most interesting thing to come out of the Ukraine war is the use of weaponized FPV drones. Both sides are basically turning cheap commercially available race drones into wildly effective guided ant-tank weapons.

@@Chemike21 militaries have been dabbling with small weaponized drones for a bit now, this is just the first large scale real world implementation of them I've seen. Insurgent forces in the Middle East have been using consumer drones to drop ordnance well before this war. The race drones are the new interesting part though, those little things are fast, manuverable, and have insane power to weight ratios so they can carry a surprisingly effective payload and are really difficult to counter.

VERY older it is an M1A1, as even he admits in the video description. We are currently on the M1A2 SEP3 and to clarify yes there was a SEP then a SEP2.... so that "top of the line American weapon" or however he worded it is FOUR generations old.....

The idea that out of the 31 they sent managing to get 5 is eh and the videos I saw Russia taking them out were stationary already which is the easiest tank to take out. I also said that tanks in general are obsolete for the most part. I do know that we, USMC, did away with ours.... I was going on just last I heard information and I don't hang onto every Pentagon report and last I had heard was the sep4 and E3 were going to be two separate variants and it is the US military so that made sense given that context......

Jesus kid As an American I support Russia over Ukraine and wish Russia victorious but using Ukraine as the baseline for how tanks operate? lmao american tanks are far superior to any Russian tank Period end of story. each tank has their pros and cons russian tanks are smaller they have less crew. Would that have made a big difference in the 70s and 80s? Yes But the Abrams has a modern fire control system So what don't matter what size your tank is. Tanks are used in conjunction with Air power. obviously we all know Ukraine lacks air power. they're unable to protect the tanks also there is no infantry on the ground properly on the tanks flank protecting it as it's advancing. I've seen pretty dumb tactics by both Russia and Ukraine In this war. russia has finally starting to adapt and make some headway as we seen lately and like I said I do support Russia. But the American Abrams is far superior to any Russian tank. the T14 Armada that could be coming out soon for Russia is possibly better than the Abrams I don't argue that. but the Abrams was created in the 80's...

That Is a 1st gen Abrams with most of the protective amour stripped off it. It is the bottom end of the Abrams from the 1980's there are 4 generations of newer ones . The USA is not sending their top of the line to Ukraine. No one in Nato is. They are not stupid they save their best in case of war. Plus, what is stupid is how many Russian tanks have been lost ? This is giving the Russian people a false sense of security as to what the West has.

From what I understand about modern tracks they’re not meant to operate without the rubber blocks they’re meant to be replaced by the crew during routine maintenance the abrams fielded the rubber blocks throughout the middle eastern war if I’m not mistaken

As of twenty years ago they still used those recovery vehicles..I don't know if they still currently use them...they were very rugged..and heavy armoured ..slow but, they would make a great conversion platform ..

The M88 absolutely is still being used the M1A1 heavy is pushing 70 tons so it’s the only thing that can pull an abrams out if it gets stuck! I was a 19k so an Abrams crewman and originally a 63T Bradley fighting vehicle systems mechanic and used the M88 quite a bit! And if anyone says the abrams is obsolete they do not know what they are talking about! 120 mm smooth bore cannon is almost 5 inches of depleted uranium slug that will pop all other tanks like a balloon!

The crew survived! A side turret hit from an anti tank missile is a bad day for any tank on the planet. The main advantage with the US tank is the crew didn’t get immediately vaporized when the turret got sent into orbit.

@@divinesan7786 The abrams have blow out panels the driver more than likely would have survived the turret crew... eh like a 70-40% chance they didn't make it. Plus even if they did survive they'd get mowed down by more drones
