Mike I have an 81 F 350 with the 400 engines in it. I have had several different carbs on it from ones that I personally rebuilt to the one that is on there now and it is a Factory Reman. The engine has a history of pumping the crankcase full of gas. I have done all of the normal diagnostics including filling the carb bowl with fuel on the bench and seeing if gravity will make it leak around or thru the power valve and also gravity tested the needle seat by using a funnel with rubber line to the car while it is on the bench to see if any fuel is getting past the needle seat. I have replaced the original manual fuel pump with a new one. Put a fuel pressure gage inline ahead of the carb to measure fuel pressure and even put an electric fuel pump on it. Nothing seems to help. I do understand carbs and the Motor craft is simple and very well designed. I have also put a vacuum gage on it and have not seen anything on the vacuum gage test that would alarm me. So now my thoughts are that if the brake booster is leaking it could lose enough vacuum for the power valve to open during idle. What are your thoughts and recommendations? I have even made a block off plate to block the EGR thinking perhaps exhaust pressure would cause the power valve to open during idle. Thanks in advance.

It is flooding. What is the fuel pressure set at? Should be about 4.5-5 lbs. I doubt the power valve is doing it but you can test it. Check out this page for more help: www.carburetor-parts.com/2150-troubleshooting

Thanks Mike. I still have the fuel pressure gage in the line so I will check the pressure again, but it seems to me like it was around 5 psi when I tested it before. I have the tool and the hand pump to check power valves so I could verify the valve is still good, but I have done so before on other new power valves and even with those known good ones, I still got the flooding issue. So, the issue of flooding is common to various carburetors and various known power valves. I will follow all your recommendations because I am the one asking for the help from you. But just out of curiosity is there a vacuum gage test that could tell me what is happening to the power valve?

Both my Accelerater and Power valve are leaking gas on my MC2100 on my 1980 CJ5. Can I just order the gaskets separately for these 2? Mine is a rebuilt 2100. Thanks.

Thank you for this. I'm having a problem with new power valve's keep leaking. I took the advice of another video where the guy used a Viton rubber ring as a gasket. I still got the same problem. Any advice on that please mike? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting this. Question, can you substitute a Holley power valve of the same rating for the Motorcraft power valve? They look identical. The reason I ask this is that my father ran a carb shop, and I've got all of the old kits, BUT often he would rob parts out of the kits. Last Motorcraft carb I rebuilt, the only kit I had on hand was missing the power valve. I had several Holley PV's, and so I just installed the Holley PV. The engine seemed to run fine, but I wanted to check to be sure this was OK, just in case I run into this in the future. Thanks.

I have a problem with my Reman 2150 stalling when coming to a stop. Always heard the power valve could cause this. What do you think Mike?. Float adjustment? Or faulty power valve?

Where does the vacuum come from? The reason i ask is i have a new 2150 and it is leaking gas from the cover all over and its quite possible my vacuum lines are hooked up wrong. I'd like to know before i pull it apart.

@@MikesCarburetor thank you for the advice...i cracked open the power valve cover and it was full of gas, so I replaced it, and dressed the sides of the new gasket and snugged everything up nice, the truck runs a tad better but tonight i noticed gas dripping from the cover again.

Okay, I've replaced the gasket along with a new valve three times now and i'm confident that i have done it correctly. But when i shut the truck down and it sits, it fills up the cover and drips...is it possible the air bleeds or main jets could be off somehow? Also, the whole outside of the carb including top gasket looks wet, but when i pop off the top the fuel level sits normal.

I have the same problem on my brand new carb. I have tried everything but the gasket always leaks. I found out the gaskets are made in china and are crap. So the only thing I can do is park my beautiful hot rod out in the cattle pasture.
