it's actually really impressive that one person can make a decent app and for free! I love the dark mode switch it's such a good and handy feature that should be added to all payed apps.

So I have a matte paper like screen cover for mine so it already gives me the touch and feel of paper which makes a slight noise much like the paper writing sound. But I did use it when I worked on glass. It actually did make it bearable to use over glass. So funny you pointed that out. Phenomenal tutorial!! You went over so much stuff I didn’t even know it could do which is great cuz I just started school in August and I picked CollaNote due to its ease of use. Thank you for this tutorial

Dear Narrator, I love your voice, and especially your humour. Aside this, thank you so much for a thorough and detailed narration, loved it. You covered everything I wanted to know about collanote. As a wine student I deal with a lot of study material and maps and i qas trying to look for a note that would let me annotate pdfs, insert images, hyperlink pages and many other note taking and documenting activities. @@imgonnaputsomedirtinureyedabs Collanote has that setting called "Highlight behind handwriting" but I have noticed that it doesn't work on pdf. It works extremely well when you take notes but in pdf it still adds the highlighter above the text. You have to reduce the opacity to make sure the text is not covered but it is definitely not the solution. Also I've noticed that it takes a very long time for the highlighter to make a straight line while highlighting whereas in goodnotes its instantaneous. As someone who uses pdf of the book in tandem with taking notes it was a huge deal breaker for me so I shifted to Goodnotes.

I began digital note-taking with CollaNote (been using it occasionally for the past 7 months) and I agree with your conclusions. Moved on to another app because CollaNote makes my M1 iPad Pro very warm within just 10-20 mins of use (this happens more often whenever the app gets updated). It’s very strange for a note-taking app to strain a powerful and efficient CPU like the M1 so it must have something to do with the app being buggy. Didn’t want to damage my battery in the long run so I bit the bullet and bought GoodNotes 5 which has more stable/polished basic features.

Yes exactly! I wasn’t sure what was going on with my battery since it’s a new ipad 10.. it got used up pretty quick when i was trying out collanote.. so i decided i prefer not to damage my battery and bought goodnotes.. However i really like many of collanote features.. especially recording audio which has many speeds ( something i’m really frustrated that goodnotes doesn’t have) … i like that the page can be pitch black and the pen colors can be very neon or bright (goodnotes doesn’t have a very dark black background and the pen colors look a little dull or matte on it).. overall I think the handwriting tool is quite sleek and makes it look nice. I dion’t like that CollaNote doesn’t have an import pdf option to a note which is a major drawback for me.. you have to import a pdf first then you can add pages of notes to it.. and the highlighter tool isn’t very sophisticated especially on black paper.. on pdfs though it’s pretty neat, offering a pastel looking highlighters

I used to love CollaNote, but then it became buggy as I was trying to handwrite with delays. So I caved in and bought GoodNotes, and I love it even more than CollaNote! I like the little GoodNotes community, I got free notebook covers from the community.

It should implement zoom window. Otherwise I can’t use it on my iPad Air 5

There is an option( add more) you can add any colour that you want. Also there is a colour picker if you want.

Just scribble, it's a hit-and-miss though. There is no specific setting for it in the app.

We're not sure exactly what's limited in the freemium, but that collaboration should be free. We however, have no way of confirming that. If it's not popping up a message to upgrade, then it should be a free feature.

You can set up your Mail app for that. And it comes up when you share your notes

If collanote team adds the more paper options like a Notability Pen 🖊 And Goodnotes pens then I will consider it 🥰🥰

Writing experience in CollaNote is way better than both Notability and GoodNotes. Also with the color schemes already selected makes it easier to color your notes. I study on Flexcil and take all my notes on CollaNote.

@@dounaage the pre-selected color scheme is quite nice but will annoy many minimalists who like a specific color scheme. You also can’t arrange/move the colors the way you want to (like if you prefer arranging colors alphabetically or something). After using CollaNote for a few months, I have encountered a lot of bugs that may be too long or too trivial for a YT comment. Regarding the writing experience, it’s a matter of personal taste. CollaNote has some kind of pen smoothing, which people may or may not like. I already have a steady hand so I don’t need it that much and I find that the smoothing cuts some parts of my letters off which triggers my OCD. Another thing is the shape detection, irregular polygons are not supported and it makes the experience worse for people who need to draw a lot. Will check out future updates for further improvements tho.

The dev uses Apple PencilKit for the pen and highlighting tools, so it may take him some time to make these. Until then, the tools will just be a copy of Apple Notes.

OneNote has a great crossplatform sync with a free Microsoft Account, but sadly the handwriting experience is terrible to me. Otherwise the structure of the app is very good in my opinion.
