Another thing is: don't use something your partner told you about his/her past breakup to get at him/her during an argument... Like "now I even understand why your ex John used to abuse you" or "that thing you told me your ex complained a lot about, now I get it" ....... It cuts so deep to have something so hurtful you told someone in a moment of vulnerability used against you. It amounts to hitting below the belt
