I can’t understand a mother leaving one child behind and taking the girls. Curly wanted his son. He was encouraged to do “the right thing” for him and regretted it until his death. So sad. Tragic that it remains unsolved.

I immediately recognized that behavior and the stupid, stubborn years-long lying as typical abusive mom antics. They often choose only one child to torment, often the youngest, and tell dumb lies to their children well into adulthood. Her behavior sadly makes perfect sense to me.

Our government has a multitude of sins it is in no hurry to admit to. The infuriating thing is the politicians who committed such terrible crimes will likely die long before their sins are exposed, assuming they will ever be exposed. Many will likely be celebrated before the truth about them comes out, just look at Woodrow Wilson, for the longest time he was considered one our finest presidents, it took decades before the truth about him came out I love my country…….. I’m ashamed of my government

People are bashing Curley but IMO the mother is the real POS. Abandoning Arthur but taking the girls, pretending he never existed and basically demanding that Peggy disown him too. At least Curly showed remorse for giving up Arthur. On a different note, I think this was the only time I ever saw Stack actually smile

Several viewers reported seeing DeCloud's wife in San Angelo, Texas. The cult had apparently settled in a farmhouse in the area. When state and local agents arrived at the home, DeCloud kicked out the screen of the upper bedroom and tried to flee. However, he was quickly arrested after a brief struggle. He was extradited to Liberty, Missouri, to stand trial on for criminal counts, including forcible rape and sodomy. Since the arrest, several other members of the cult have come forward, corroborating Julie's statements and alleging further abuse. In September of 1994, Nelson DeCloud was convicted on all four criminal counts. The presiding judge at the trial followed the jury's recommendation, and subsequently sentenced DeCloud to 220 years in prison. DeCloud refused to appeal his case. He later died from natural causes on April 4, 2014 in his prison cell.

The story of Arthur and Curly is a story of a douche-bag who abandoned his only son to an uncertain fate in the hands of strangers so that he could paint his face and travel with his friends unburdened by a the oblibligations of a father. The story of a cunt.

Ron Froehlich sounds like someone had a rocky relationship with their father. Abused, neglected, given up for adoption? You were probably molested and abused by your dad and whenever you come across stories like Curly’s, you automatically have a hatred toward fathers that had to give up their kid since it strikes a nerve and brings up traumas from your past. You come across as someone that didn’t have a positive or healthy relationship with your father.

Poor innocent sweet little Arthur rejected by both his parents, they didn’t deserve him. I hope the people that adopted him showered him with love as his own parents just discarded him. The fact they couldn’t find him was perhaps their karma to never find out whatever happened to him. A despicable act by both parents. To be discarded by both parents would have really done some psychological damage, poor poor little child.

@@A_Muzik It was a different time, the mother ignoring the boys existence was asshole behaviour but her taking the girls and not the boy was probably because of the old assumption that boys need a father more. I'm not sure the mother knew about the son being given away or the clown career since even Curley didn't know where they were. Both are at fault but the mother at least provided a stable home for the girls while the father left the boy instead of getting another job.

I will never understand how people let these terrible things happen to them and their children in cults. These cults all repeat the same basic things. Like before they joined the cult werent they aware of other cults and know how these things end up? Why would a man let some guy who claims to be chosen by god/god/a prophet/the second coming of jesus sleep with their wife or daughter and a myriad of other awful things? I just can't wrap my head around it. Are they that lacking in critical thinking skills?

It's amazing how terrible Robert Stack's make-up looks on these episodes. Really obvious, too much, and the colors look really feminine. I guess television hair and make-up have come a long way.
