So sad that the RF took advantage of that poor young naive girl of barely 19. It crushed my Heart to watch as her face looked like she just wanted to cry I could just feel her pain settling deep down to her stomach as her dreams disappeared in a moment , I can’t imagine how she held herself together at that moment. The beginning of Charles’s long abusive behavior was just setting in on her at that minute he said that in public. How her heart was hurting so very sad. I Can’t express how brutally cold and cruel Charles is.

Their engagement was on 3 February 1981 and they didn't get married until 29 July. At this point they barely knew each other, as Diana said they had only met 12 times before they were engaged. Diana clearly picked up on the "whatever love means" comment by Charles in the engagement interview, and although she did not know for sure he was having an affair in early February 1981, she strongly suspected it by the time of the wedding in late July 1981.

He literally took advantage of her youth to not understand how she was being used. It couldn’t be worse of a tragedy. Everyone knew except her, and whatever inkling she got from intuition was instantly attacked and gaslit by Charles. He made her feel crazy- she was completely innocent. I don’t care if she screamed at him - abused persons do scream.

Nonsense, Diana knew exactly what she was getting into. Diana had more royal blood in her veins than Prince Charles does, but it came from illegitimate children of royalty. Members of Diana's family have always been the mistresses, this time they wanted to put a Spencer on the throne.

Preserved for history on film, Charles attempted to publicly humiliate Princess Diana from the beginning. Only a truly cold, cruel person, like Charles would do that to a young girl so beautiful and vulnerable.😢

Her crestfallen expression made my heart hurt. His comment was embarrassing and thoughtless, and so public. The people wanted, and thought they were getting a fairytale and everyone close to them was fine with having everyone believe it was so. I suspect he said what he did for an audience of one - Camilla. He wanted her to know that while he might be marrying another woman, he would always love her. :(

I agree wholeheartedly; for what it is worth, at least he was honest. He gave a very diplomatic response to a question that he knew Camilla would see and hear. Lady Diana will forever be the People's Princess. Aside from that, I never was a fan of Prince Charles.

I think what's even more interesting is that at 0:27 Charles has a microexpression of contempt-- this expression is one of the highest predictors of future divorce. Diana showed it as well in interviews years down the line while they were married, but Charles was apparently showing these facial expressions way before during their engagement.
