Unlocking the Old Testament Part 40 - Jeremiah 2

David Pawson says that when Jeremiah looks further into the future, he has a lovely optimism about the ultimate restoration of his people. David looks at the structure of the book. Though the book is a collection of his messages and not in chronological order, there is a pattern. God says the way to peace for Israel is not by making alliances with other nations; they simply need to trust God to look after them as he does when they walk in his ways. Though Jeremiah has similar messages for the people as other prophets of God, he also has some unique things to say. He emphasizes spiritual living - religious ritual is worse than useless if your heart isn’t in it. David points out that going to church is no substitute for godly living. God had largely dealt with his people corporately, but Jeremiah is introducing the concept of God dealing with individuals once they returned from exile. This is extremely important as each of us will stand alone before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Jeremiah’s political message was seen as treason by the king and Jeremiah suffered as a result. Assassination attempts failed however.

The part about everyone being answerable for their own sins struck me, not because I didn't know it, but that there's a whole teaching in the Pentecostal movement on generational curses, and the whole issue of being delivered from them. Since we're under the new covenant, the sins of our fathers cannot follow us, for as the text says, those who eat sour grapes will have their own teeth set on edge. Praise God for the ministry of David Pawson!

Yes! It’s all about your heart. What goes into your heart is what comes out. Be careful what you take into it. Root yourself in the word and having an actual relationship with Jesus. Talk to Him daily. Don’t get caught up with religious rituals or acts.

WOW! God amazes me one more time. I feel trapped right now, I am ill and am waiting for healing. I love how God can speak even trough David Pawsons teachings. Thats not the first time. I will now sit down and forgive myself and tell God what I really feel, without holding back! Thank you LORD!

For those saying David Pawsons channel doesn't use scripture He quoted Romans 1:26 (KJV) 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.'

The whole sanctuary service with the rituals it encompassed, as in old Israel, ceased down here on earth because it was a mere shadow of the real tabernacle in heaven which God built and not men. One shouldn't think that the sanctuary service as such has been done away with, yes the manly ministry has been done away and the true/real and eternal (doesn't need daily sacrifice of animals) is ongoing in heavenly realms, where Jesus is our high priest. Let's us therefore look up! Hebrew 8:1-6; 7:23-28. Romans 12:1

17:20. Au contraire. The New Testament echoes the Old Testament with priests, sacrifices, incense, altars. Jesus instituted a Church with these things. The protest-ant revolt didn’t change any of that.
