I bought a Mac 7200 in 2017 and I've had this problem with the Mac 7200 where Once you turn it off and on about 10 time it will lock itself out the blue Meters will show but it will not turn on with remote or the button in front panel. I have to totally unplug it for it to reset and come back on🤔🤔🤔🤔

I just bought an MA6900 but it hasn't arrived yet and prefer the warmer/laid back (slow) sound. I started with a C2200 tube preamp and MC402 solid state power amp and loved it but it may have been a little too sweet. If you have heard separates like that can you compare the sound of the MA6900 to them? I later decided to downgrade in price etc as I don't listen all that much to it and went with a MA8000 which I find too neutral sounding (not warm) but smooth still and will be selling it. What do you mean by thin/skeleton/mechanical when its considered to be a warmer sounding amp? Those are characteristics I consider the MA8000 as having at least compared to the separates I had.

I just want to understand... You went from Mcintosh c2200 and mc402, to the MA8000. And now you are buying an extra amp which is ma6900? The ma6900 is a retro mcintosh sound from around year 2008. It is warm and sluggish, and lacks a bit of attack/clarity/depth/power. The ma7000 is like 1.5x better than 6900, and goes in a more neutral direction. It is a lot more clear/tight/packs a lot more power. (sound is a bit on the thin side) The MA8000 is what I would call 1.5-2x better than the MA7000. It is basically the exact same sound as ma7000, just a bit more of everything; It's deeper/more detailed/has a more fleshy evolved sound. Most of the mcintosh bare none thin sound has been removed, and it is a lot more fun to use. The ma7000 was a bit too boring and depressing to listen to. What I mean by thin/skeleton/mechanical is that it does the sounds/but it does not have the substance so it feels entirely real and convincing. Why are you getting the MA6900, when the MA8000 is a lot better? And what other gear do you have? So I can understand what is going on with you sound?

@@RealHIFIHelp I sold the C2200 & MC402 to get the MA8000. Now I am looking to sell that as I just bought the MA6900. I find the MA8000 not warm or full bodied enough for my tastes I guess at least compared to the separates I had. Its nice and has some smoothness but not enough. Call me old fashioned (I am in my 40s though) but I prefer that older romantic/musical/fun/tubey sounding/slow/lacking attack etc type of sound which goes against what most people want today. I just hate ear fatigue and my ears are sensitive to that so I want to avoid the more neutral/harsh/sterile type sound which it appears the newer Macs are closer to having (not that they have those things but lean closer to that). I dont really care to notice every last bit of detail (critical listening) as I find it distracting. I have a tube amp as well and love that sound so the older MAcs tend to have that and especially the MA6900 from what I read. My other gear that I have would be the B&W 805s speakers, Ayre Codex DAC, entry level Audio Art cables, Pro-ject RPM 9.1 turntable and BlueSound Node 2 streamer. I also use a Panamax power surge protector. Also I use Belden XLR cables from the DAC to the amp.

It is a fascinating situation you are in.... Yes in a way the MA6900 is warmer. But it is a sort of lower class warmer sound. (and because of that it actualy sounds a bit digital) The MA8000 is a much better amp on basically every level, than the MA6900. In theory you could maybe like it more, but I think that situation will only maybe last a couple of weeks, and then you would miss all the deeper detail from the MA8000. Looking at all of your gear, I understand 100% what you mean, and I would also feel like you, I would suggest replacing your B&W speaker with the Vandersteen 1ci for about the same price. It has a much more warm and pleasant sound in a more naturally evolved way. That B&W speaker is very hard on the ears and inconsistent. That DAC you have is way below the standard of your MA8000, same with the Bluesound streamer. Those 2 things make the sound extremely digital. (most streamers on the market are very hard on the ears and digital, or sound digital in a very low quality warm kind of way) If I had to rate your MCintosh ma8000 amp from 0-100, it would be around 40, which is waaaaay above average. Your bluesound streamer would then be: 10/100, and your DAC 10/100, then the b&w 15/100. The project turntable is okay around 20. And your surge Panamax protector 25. And the cables you have 15/100. I would suggest getting rid of the Panamax box and getting an isol8 mini sub axis for about the same price. The isol 8 is a lot more natural and comfortable to listen to. I suggest replacing all of your cables to audio note lx96 with audio note silver plugs. Then you are getting much more natural and easy on the ears type of sound. And make that ma8000 jumper tweak and the back like I said in the video, with a lx96 AN RCA cable. You only have to make it like 50cm long that cable, that will again make it a lot more natural. Same with the fuse, get 2 different ones to find which one you like the best. And your speaker cable should also be lx96. But make sure that you use a 4 meter length, is will make the sound so much more nice/retro/bass rich. Longer cables in general create a more smooth sound. But mostly that b&W and the streamer and DAC is totally killing your sound. You are only listening to about 10% of what your ma8000 has to offer, and the ma6900 is not the solution. The perfect DAC for you is the Audio Note signature 2.1, that is a very warm and evolved type of sound. If you are in a situation where you can't do anything about your gear because of money, then try and make 2 meter long power cables that are much better for all of your gear, that will create a very good compensating effect. And on all of this type of gear, it would be good with Oyaide 079 power plugs. They are a very high class warm type of sound. And make sure the powe cable you are making is with a double pull on the minus pole, again a lot more warm and pleasant sound. And get like a good value power cable of ebay somethin like the Viborg 1501, they are also pretty warm. If that is too difficult for you to do. Then just select the audio note lexus power cables that are 2 meters long with the oyaide 079 plugs, that is also very nice and warm. And when your sound is very harsh, you want to make sure that you measure every power cable to be in the correct phase if you know what I mean? You also want to consider doing a very basic thing that makes your sound more warm. And that is buying a very soft and spongy yoga matt like material, that you cut with a scissor and put underneath the feet of your amp, DAC, streamer and maybe speakers temporarily. Just like you see in my (best speaker video) Also know this. You can get like a 2 dollar door stopper that you put on the DAC and streamer, to make the sound a bit more warm and solid. Plus the last video I made (I think) I covered how you can use the dampening Scotch adhesive pads to make your gear more warm sounding. (that helps a lot on gear like your streamer and DAC. (don't do it on you amp, it will probably not be optimal) All of this things will elevate your sound to at least 5x better than it is now. Streamer I suggest you later in the end follow my streamer video. You will love the vandersteen 1ci speakers, and especially with audio note lx96 4m long speaker cable and the oyaide GYT spade plugs. That is a match in heaven with your mcintosh ma8000. Try and use that same cable on every single link that is possible. Even on XLR, which you can then use basic neutrik plugs for. Hope that helps!

I stopped reading after you said "Perfect DAC" lol Also, find it funny how you shit on B&W and don't even mention how well they can sound with McIntosh. this is the perfect example of confirmation bias. All you're doing is telling someone else how you hear things and how they should hear the same things..it's silly and a waste of time unless you are a salesman..are you?

In the newer video I did mention that b&w was a perfect match. (ma9000 review) I meant perfect match for his amp since he was lacking warmth. The perfect DAC is not the 2.1 DAC but the fifth element DAC if you want to misinterpret what I said, but then you need much better gear than ma8000 or else it is a waste of money. No I am not biased, I tried basically everything on the market which no other reviewer has. And I am the only guy on the internet who is not affiliated with any HIFI business who is doing this in his free time to help people understand what the gear is actually doing to the sound, not using tech data to confuse people, and who is not politically correct, or supporting brands that I make money on, via youtube, sponsorships or pretending to be a down to earth nice kinda guy using reverse psyhology to win over my audience. I am the only channel who will say when something is shit. And B&W has it's positive sides that match gear like Mcintosh. But I will also say that even though it is a good match for Mcintosh, I do not find B&W to be a very honest and real sound especially in the low to medium models. I find it to be a bit too forgiving in general compared to the best, and that is also why it lies in the price category that it does. Yes black level and bass and being able to play a lot of bad recordings are generally the stronger parts of B&W. But that will not make me put this speaker brand in the top category with brands like Audio Note, Verity, Marten Design, Peak Consult, Kharma audio speakers. I'll say this about b&w, they are actually okay when you usually take the top 5 most expensive models that they make and you use it on gear like Mcintosh. But the cheaper ones are really crappy in my opinion, and there is a lot of stuff that is just so much better like for example Vandersteen, JBL, Klipsh, Audiosolution for the same price or cheaper. I have listened to about 50 sets of b&w speakers in my life, where at least 20 of them were in extreme testing conditions, and their quality is only in that they are good at covering up for the general lack of quality in the transistor product range. So yes B&W at the top models, are good at creating the illusion of good sound. But I am not here to give people the illusion of good sound, I am here to generally save people money and give them a better sound instead of the usual compensating sound.

It requires that you make a good rca and pwr cable and find a proper fuse like synergistic research before this starts to work. Normal RCA cables, and pwr cables and fuses will just make the sound worse. Have a nice day.
