The Katana is almost too much for me. I find myself sitting down, plugging in, and playing with the bazillion effects and parameters for 3 hours before I actually start playing. Not a bad thing! I love having this much power at my fingertips, but part of me is an old dinosaur that needs to be kept far away from modern technology! LOL

I built a pedal board, over 2020, that could compare to Mike Einziger's board. lol It had MOST of what I wanted, but everything I needed....and even could take the top level off for smaller gigs, cause I kept all the essentials on the top layer. (the board was double stacked haha). The amount that can be done with the Katana MKII and the GA-FC EX even has MY brain fried. I'm sure, after enough time and effort, I would be able to get it to muscle memory, but I'm confident that I'd only be using a couple effects for a while. lol

Mine gathers dust but I know its great.I just choose to plug into attenuated tube amps or a Helix through a power amp and cab !

Then I STRONGLY suggest to NEVER consider Fractal Audio. Boss Katana is like 3rd grade math compared to Fractals college trigonometry.

Good stuff as always. You should mention though that the original gafc does all you've shown here with the v2 software in the amp :) No need to rush out and buy one unless you want to use 2 or control 2 amps (although artist models do that too)

I now have both - I was hoping you could link them and have 8 live presets - but on investigation - you can’t. So you are right - in most cases, unless you want 3 expression pedals - might as well stick with the GA-FC

@@75tram if you have more than one Katana the ex pedal with the regular gafc gives you tons of extra options.

Man this come with good timing. I just got the tone central installed to the amp. But I cannot figure out how to find your presets lol. Over my head I think

Thanks for all the great Katana videos Paul 👍. Do you know on the EX if there's a way to cycle through the GREEN-RED-YELLOW effects on the same patch ? I'd upgrade to the EX for that function alone.

Interesting choice pairing the Suhr with the Katana. I always feel like my Katana sounds better with my single coil guitars. When I use my humbucker guitars with my Katana, even with coil splits, it seems to sound much darker and warmer than my other amps, which I don’t like the sound of. So I have to use an EQ to try and brighten it, but then I seem to lose a little clarity. When I use my single coil guitars with my Katana, I don’t seem to have that issue. Odd.

Try the guitar sim effect it simulates humbuckers with single coils or vice versa

Question. With the GAFC EX, could you use the other GAFC like a FS-5U and use the buttons for tap tempo, or solo boost

How did you hook up the expression pedals and the additional GACF pedal?

How does this new GAFC-EX compare to the Airstep Kat?

When changing the channel (or patch..?), for example, CH2 has clean with reverb and CH3 has a distorted lead tone with reverb and delay, can it switch these channels back and forth seamlessly with "trail"..? or am I expecting too much for this price range..?

Took me a second to figure out, but: GA-FC EX = Guitar Amp Foot Controller Extendable (or Expandable, who knows)

I tried to do the update recently and now my tone studio is blank and I can do literally nothing with it! I followed the instructions to the letter and now I'm left with essentially a useless amp! To say I'm poisoned, is an understatement!

still don't get why you wouldn't just use the toe switch on the mission pedal to turn the pedal fx on/off? (instead of long pressing the effect knob followed by short pressing the other knob then remembering that you have to long press the effects again before you can do anything else)

What does it sound like thru a cabinet? We're not going to be gigging in stereo through our DAW like you are.

That is apparently not yet a feature, according to Andy the Guitar Geek, but should be something Boss can put into a future upgrade.

Gafc wx vs airstep kat what do you find better?

the free preset patches will not download no application to open ?

I just bought the katana and the ga fc ex. This pedal works like it's supposed to but for some reason my lights only turn red and not green. I have yet to hook it up to my computer, is that the reason perhaps?

Can this connect too with Katana Mk1?

Can I use the gafc ex on expand with the gafc to control a mk 1 100 to switch channels and effects??

As far as I know the EX only works on mk2

so I suppose this doesn't work with the 50 watt Katana ??? also will your patches work on the 50 watt ???

When I got my MKII 100WATT about 18 moths ago, I thought the potential was fantastic. It is remarkable. But recently I was lucky enough to get a Blackstar HT20. I'm not kidding, it makes the Katana sound like it comes from Toys R Us. I'm selling my Katana and GFGC

Also, I thought that there was something wrong with my Gretsch G5420T playing through the Katana. Muddy AF mid range. Until I played through the HT 20

Funnily enough, I have a Blackstar HT Club 40 mk 2 and I much prefer the tones I get out of my Katana Artist mk 2 - each to their own! Much more reliable to gig with as well - my Blackstar blows valves with monotonous regularity

Patches ? And apps to play guitar , theyre slow moving through the 3 banks on 5 , tap dancing on knobs to keep in time pheeeerrr , im after amps that take real pedals and my own choice of then , boss dictating what i can and cant use , i feel well rodeo'd into this limiting stuff
