Unlock chord-scale connectors on the guitar
Музыка
Combining chords and scales on the guitar is something that so many guitar students ask me about in their lessons with me here in Vancouver. To many, it seems like such a difficult task because when they look down at the fretboard, they see so many options, too many, and it's all overwhelming.
But the truth of it is that we only need to see a few options at any time. We don't need to see the entire fretboard -- or think about all the music theory possible -- all at once to make a decision. When we have just a few great options, these ideas "light up" on the fretboard whenever we see these opportunities. Learn how to connect major chords with the major pentatonic scale.

A simple minor scale shape exists at the same location. I am still learning, but to my understanding for the blues we use minor scales over major chords.

@Dr Ali Akram You can use major over major, and in a blues context minor pentatonic over a blues or blues rock. But we cannot use major pentatonic over a minor key. Just doesn't work 😀
Your lessons are so easy to follow. No complicated guitar theory, just straight to the point. Lots of light bulb moments for me!

Totally. Try learning the 5 shapes. And then try coming out of "easy E shape" in both directions on the neck. It will really open up what you can play. A minor and C major are the best to learn at first.
Again, making another concept seem very easy and quickly relatable. It's absolutely brilliant.

Wa... Such great tips! I've been playing for more years than I care to admit and never thought of these simple ideas.... It just occurred to me that we've covered the I and IV chords of the three blues chords... That D (V) chord just two frets above the C is tantalizing close.
