I can believe that, movies are James' passion, particularly classic horror films, so for him to protest destroying the oldest surviving movie set, which also happens to be a classic horror film, no real surprise for him.

The only bright side to all this is that they at least kept the Paris Opera House set, which of course was inside the soundstage before it was demolished.

At the request of the person... I will not mention who it was, but I have a family member who worked on this game. The original concept was: The arcade room was going to be the place you'd earn tokens to go on rides. Arcade games were ranging from Universal trivia or puzzle games. Winning would give you tokens where you could go to the rides of major films. Each film would be a genre related 2D classic video game. For example: Back to the Future was going to be a beat em up but side scrolling like Metal Slug, set in the western era of the third movie but instead of a gun Marty had a whip (I assume the whip instead of a gun was because this was when games were being attacked by soccer moms complaining about the violence in video games). Jurassic Park was a top down racing game with the SUV from the movie, had to dodge tar spitting dinos or else the T-Rex at the bottom of the screen would catch up to you . E.T. was possibly a space shooter with ET trying to get home but they canned the idea before going into detail about it. So what happened? Kemco the publishers fucked everything over. You should know them James, they made Bug's Bunny Birthday Blowout and Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle lol.

Slevin Reviews Yup, i do game design and theres nothing worse than having this great idea that you cant wait to make in to a game, only to have it shot down because of some bullshit bias reason. The reasoning behind this game was probably "oh we want to teach people to pick up their trash in our theme park, so we will make it part of the game so next time they visit they wont throw it on the floor" thats what i imagine happened, or something just as dumb.

Zazzy Z-man Nintendo rekted Universal Studios, made them make a game that sucks, and asked if they could make rides for their mascots. Hey, at least Universal Studios has seen better days then Acolade, Sega, and Namco!

Not only did Universal demolish their oldest set of all, The Phantom of the Opera, to make way for a Harry Potter ride in Universal Hollywood, they also recently demolished the famous long-running Jaws ride in Universal Florida to make way for another Harry Potter ride, even though there already was one in Islands of Adventures! What were they thinking?! Well at least they still have E.T. Adventure.

Actually they didn't destroy the Phantom set for Harry Potter, they demolished an Amphitheater that housed concerts, I'm not sure why they destroyed a 100 year old soundstage, but it wasn't for a ride

I was hoping that you'd give this game its own episode after the James & Mike sessions showed off how much you both hated it. ...and I wasn't disappointed. A "janitor sim" is the best genre definition here. I look at going on the rides as a diversion from the intense day of trash removal at Universal. I mean, sure, I know there are supposed to be labor laws, but maybe letting the kid on the rides is a way to keep him from telling the authorities. Or something. Really looking forward to Day 12, and what's in that big box of LJN.

never had to pick up trash at universal to get on a ride. however when i worked at cedar point in Ohio, if employees were in the park on the day off and were caught passing by garbage without picking it up, we got written up and lectured. best part is, they never tell you about that during orientation

You could say that. The LJN Video Art was more about trying to color pictures, if you will. It was trying to be more like Mario Paint before that even existed, but it was more like Color A Dinosaur in terms of how you could color and do things in a proper manner.

That’s only a small perk.

I always find it crazy how different James is in real life to the AVGN character, he plays it so well.

James is one of the few KZreadrs who can leave in a blooper and it actually makes the episode better.

So pretty much they don't even let you enjoy it as a character. They make it so the camera angles are as if you're watching another kid get to run around the park. That's a slap in the face.

I find it DEEPLY IRONIC that a video "game" about a theme park owned by a major movie studio is plagued by BAD CAMERA ANGLES

0:52-1:06 I looked into that, the soundstage was destroyed, their building part of a Nintendo themed part of the park there. The set itself was preserved and put in storage. Meanwhile a Curious George area and an amphitheater were torn down to make way for the Harry Potter stuff

As a Cali dude myself, the Star Tour was one of my favorite attractions... But I feel the Nerd, what's the point if they're getting rid of history!

As a former annual passholder of USH, I'd say that Disneyland has more **real** rides than Universal Studios Hollywood has to offer, which were 95% screen rides that uses projectors and 3D glasses while sitting on a moving hydraulic seats.

Pretty epic "nooooooooo!!" at the end. One of the best ever.

The Phantom Of The Opera set was not destroyed at all, it was moved into storage. The soundstage was destroyed, not the set.

Gotta say. Star Tours was one of the best theme park rides I ever been on as a kid. Actually felt like I was on a space ship stumbling onto an imperial fleet.

Fixed camera positions are commonplace in the survival-horror genre, and it works just fine in many other PS1 games.

Yeah, but mostly, your character is pretty close to the camera and you are not far away in a big crowd. So yeah, in those horror games, it works fine, because it is done right.

James made it sound like fixed camera positions are in essence faulty, even though it's common in lots of great games. I wanted to point out that IMO fixed camera positions are not bad most of the time.
