UNITAR UNDRR Joint Launch of Capacity Development Products

Ойын-сауық

Through much of 2023, UNDRR and UNITAR have been collaborating to give UNDRR’s support to UN Country Teams and Humanitarian Teams a broader reach.
UNDRR has developed detailed guidance, resources, and tools to support the process of using good practice in risk assessment in important UN processes including Humanitarian Needs Overviews (HNOs) and Common Country Assessments (CCAs). It is particularly valuable that the analysis processes and many of the tools to understand risk and its drivers are useful for communities beyond UNCTs, including for specific sectoral planning processes as well as for national or sub-national line ministry planning.
The philosophy behind the capacity development tools focuses on a modular approach permitting users to select the resource they need, the stage in the process they are facing and the specific tools that they would need to accomplish their objectives.
Different tools are offered for:
Onboarding - providing users with a broad overview of the nature and purpose of the more detailed resource.
Technical (facilitated) - this offers a detailed technical dive into all of the steps that would be needed to produce good risk analysis for the planning process with the support of an expert facilitator.
Technical (self-study) - users who have already participated in a facilitated process or who are not able to access one can make use a self-study version of the same material. This allows users to access the training at whatever stage is relevant for them, to refresh their knowledge or train a colleague.
The launch event will bring together the UNDRR SRSG, Kamal Kishore and the UNITAR Executive Director, Nikhil Seth to celebrate the successful alignment of the organizations in bringing important resources to the world via well-designed capacity development material.
The digital ribbon-cutting will be followed by a brief demonstration of the platform and material and testimonials from UNRC Raúl Salazar (El Salvador and Belize) and Jolly Shah (OCHA Head of Coordination and Field Operations in Yemen).
