What a fun & interesting list. Casimir Valentine & Theodosia Oceana were the top names for me. Very classy & special.
I clicked so fast! I love this theme! Some of my favorites in my family tree: Waitstill and Hopestill

I feel like all my female Canadian ancestors were named varients of Lavinna / Lavinia New Brunswick
There is a woman in my family tree born in the 1800s named Freelove and I always thought she must have been like really loose and just given herself that name when she got older. But it fits right in with the Puritans and now it all makes so much sense. Thank you! This was the most interesting and beautiful list, loved hearing every name!
This list is an absolute dream! More of this please ❤❤❤
I had to laugh at your reaction to Alderman Willie. 😂 These caught my attention: Felicity, Adaliza, Beauclerc, Avonnia, Golden, Valentine, Dulcie (for long form, could always go with Dulcinea), Alwyn, Lorenzo, Beaumont, Theodosia, and Oceana. I have some wild names in my family history, including Analiza, Vallula, and Dorcas. One relative (not a direct ancestor but the sibling of one) was named Missouri. We don't live in Missouri and they didn't either, lol.

“Missouri gets its name from a tribe of Sioux First Nations People of the state called the Missouris. The word "Missouri" often has been construed to mean "muddy water" but the Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology has stated it means "town of the large canoes," and authorities have said the First Nations syllables from which the word comes mean "wooden canoe people" or "he of the big canoe."

Ok so for April Fools (not sure if that's something you acknowledge in England), a list of names that would be beautiful if the name didn't currently mean something weird or awkward. Examples: Rosacea ( beautiful but is a skin condition 😅), Duvet, Muesli, Veal, etc. Words that sound beautiful but for the meaning. Jist thought it would be funny and entertaining. 😂
This was my favourite of your videos! You should do a part 2 😊 Esterlie and Dulcie are so pretty 😍

Adored Esterlie so much that it is now the name of a minor character in the final book of my series! :) Full name: Esterlie Seraphine "Ess" Salvetti. At the beginning of the book she is the as yet unborn baby sister of two of the protagonists (Esterlie is born later in the book).
My middle name is Adalize! I have never seen it anywhere else before! I like it better with the a at the end lol

Love this list! My great-great-great nana born in 1875 was called Minnie Hymen🤣
good idea! though it sounds more like 1570 than 1870 for some (especially the start ones) :p out of these I like: adaliza, aldyth, avenel, avonnia, alwyn, esterlie, alwina, theodosia (theda bara’s first name), ozias, and drury is too close to dreary otherwise maybe heh what about old scandi (and viking era) names next? because so many babies there now have western names and there’s great ones lost to time! have a good one!(:
Amiable could be turned into Amibel -- I used to love the idea of the name Amibel Penn

LOVE this name list 😍
Great idea for a name list! Would love to hear more of these unique antique names :D I would totally list: Adaliza Aldyth - my late aunt was Edythe, so it would be a great tribute! Avenel - love a soft sounding boy's name Beauclerc - I think it could be pronounced like Beauclair? Golden - love this for boys AND girls! And either could be Goldie! Alwyne - similar to Edwin or Alvin, but cooler in a Tolkien sort of way Esterlie - SO PRETTY! I love -lie endings Theodosia - all at once classy and dramatic. Theodosia could be a lead stage actress or opera singer or silent film star. Either way, all eyes are on Theodosia, just the way she likes it. Fabulous.
Wow, these are really beautiful
I loved Avonnia!😍
I really liked this a lot
I want to know who these people were! So interesting.
Love Blossie, Wrenny and Liena ❤
Loving these names! Alwyne Frank is my fav for a boy but for girls I think Liena is beautiful. Esterlie Harriet also caught my eye because Esterlie sounds similar to Everleigh and I have two daughters named Everleigh Skye and Harriet Aria💞
My headmistress at secondary school was Mrs Spendlove!
I’m in the US and I met an older lady named Avonelle and I think it’s so pretty for a girl as well!
I worked with a Spendlove (last name), Alderman (last name) and an Ozias! I LOVE Esterlie! And all the alliterations.
I absolutely love Adaliza, Liena, and Ozias
there are some really beautiful Puritan baby names, but also some that are WILD! i was reading about them recently, and found records of babies named: Humiliation Pardon Vanity Forsaken Hate-evil Faint-not Sorry-for-sin Dust-and-ashes Fly-fornication brothers named Love-well, Do-well, Fare-well and Die-well also a boy named Acts-of-the-Apostles - (nicknamed Actsy) and another named Through-Much-Tribulation-We- Enter-The-Kingdom-Of-Heaven (nicknamed Tribby)!!!
They really had some good names in the 1870’s!
These are sooo cool!! Wish half of them sounded as good in my American accent as they do in your gorg British accent 😘
I work in a museum and often come across interesting names on the census - my favourite so far has been Zilla which means shadow! Couldnt convince my partner of it though
My daughter is nicknamed 'DD' as that's what we called the bump because we couldn't decide between Dorothy or Dulcie! We went with Dorothy in the end, but I love Dulcie so much ❤ I got the name from a book called 'Wild Bells to the Wild Sky' which has a little girl named Dulcie in it
Love many of these!! It is the Muffin Man who lives on Drury Lane! Wish there were a muffin emoji 🧁👨🏻
i like Blossie, especially as a nickname for Blossom - love Drury and Beaumont, and Casbourne is a cute alternative for Caspian! also like Dulcie - which was actually a name on my parent's shortlist of potential baby names for me! 💕
these are so amazing, the last boy name Ozias Kemp was wonderful and I love Adaliza in our area Analise is a rare older name that I thought about using for a girl but we had another boy so oh well, had I known about Ozias I might have used it. loved this and wonder if the meanings we know today for the names is the same as then.
I love Vintage names! 😍 My Daughter is Avalla Florence - both named after my Victorian relatives 😊
Not quite 1870, but just a decade later: a potential relation of mine (I say potential because I found this info on Ancestry, it's not corroborated by my family) is a great-great-great aunt, born in 1880, with the unusual name Andrurina/Andrina (there are records clearly connected to the same lady but the names are slightly different; maybe Andrina was a nickname?) Not name related, but family tree fun fact - a different great-great-great aunt (this one I'm more sure of), Emma Jane, moved from Scotland to Connecticut, USA, where she lived to 102! Seems she passed in 2003, a few months shy of turning 103.

Can you do a rare/old Cornish name list, please? ❤
My 3 X great grandmothers name was Gussie. I think it is definitely a 2024 style name
There are some really good ones here! I tried to get my husband to love Dulcie the way I do, but he just didn’t.
LOVE the name Aldyth 😍
I love Esterlie ❤ Could also do Esterline/ Esterlyn
Amiable(ami , mia) Felicity, Liena Alwina, and Esterlie Harriot are adorable princess names. Adaliza is one of my favorite older vintage gems that I'd consider using for a real person. Avenel sounds similar to Avery & Avril. Dulcie Gwendolyn & Wrenny Susan are cute. Theodosia Oceana , Aldyth Lorna , Avonnia , Casimir Valentine, & Alwyne Frank could be in a historical book or play together.
Esterlie is beautiful! One of my great grandma's names was Esther.
Lorenzo is one of my favorite boy names❤
Ozias is beautiful
I have a great grandmother Spendlove!
Dulcie was my grandmothers name, born around 1920

Any ideas what we could pick as the middle name for Charlotte? It has to work for English and German speakers and have a certain rhythm (my husband is a musician 😅). Nothing I suggest seems to be IT.
This list is fantastic! Bring on 1877! So you should do a crossover with professor Henry Louis gates at Harvard,:who do you think you are" traces genealogy. On a separate note I come from a long line of Dorcas in New Amsterdam. Thankfully dodged that name!!

I have just heard the name Euphrosyne, name of a Goddess for good cheer, joy and mirth. You could use Rosy as a nickname!
My 2nd son is named after an ancestor from this era, Stillman Whitney

My FIL's middle name is Alwyn and if I were to want kids that would definitely be on the list. But maybe for a girl instead.
