@@tomfinn6579 “good shot” is subjective. If theres a bunker in the fairway and you hit the bunker, you can hit the ball well but the shot would be poor.

Zalatoris must have heard the announcer say “This one is hammered right down the middle” and thought, ok, I'll follow that flight. 🤣🤣🤣

I disagree because I think Zalatoris felt the slice and he thought it was a bad shot so did not look at the rest of the balls flight but your idea may be correct

Amazing that this video for 1 hole was more than twice as long as the video for the entire final round highlights

I'm surprised Will didn't mark his ball. Since his lie was just sitting on top of the sand, he could replace it after the sand was returned to its previous state instead of worrying about the grains that settled on and around his ball from List's shot.

Apparently the rules say that you are only allowed to mark your ball in your opponent asks you to. He would have risked a penalty had he decided to do so on his own.

I aim for bunkers…the ball never goes where I aim it. I reckon Patrick Reed could improve the lie here though.

Had to be the best of his life, given the situation.

TBF that ball was kinda down the middle. There just happens to be a bunker in the middle.

Thats the cutest win ive seen.

When I encounter that, I play it out of turn. The forward ball (Zalatoris) hits first as the aftermath of his stroke will not typically change the lie of the rear ball. I'm usually playing for five or ten bucks though.

If Gannon Buhr can play a shot with his mark _on a spectator's disc bag_ and still be within the 30 seconds (and he's not a fast player, he gets the occasional time warning himself), the problem isn't the time. The problem is that Nikko gets the yips and still hasn't figured out how to deal with them in the time allowed.

If a rules judge can use a rake to restore the lie, why couldn't they use a paintbrush instead? That would have made things a lot faster.

One time I hit a shot over a water hazard to a green it landed short of the green and right next to a resting seagull. The gull picked up the ball in it's beak and dumped it in the water! I'm still waiting for a ruling on that years later. On a side note fried gull wings aren't too bad with a ranch dressing.

Essentially the same except one of the balls would be marked before the other ball was played. After the first shot is played, same situation as here - bunker raked and the original lie restored so the 2nd ball can be replaced. Nothing complicated - just a bit of common sense.

@@craigmonty I was in a group in a competition where that happened. First player had a fried egg lie, second player's ball rolled on top of the first. Second player removed their ball while the first player played. Raked and replaced for the second player.

The lie was obviously affected by the first shot. I don't know what these referees were doing, but they did a terrible job. These officials are so scared of picking up balls, it's ridiculous.

In Match Play format the player furthest from the hole must always play first. Not in stroke play though, which this was.

You also have 2 club lengths in the tee box from front to back to place your ball.

@@GuessWho-uc5uq Yes. And both have same apex (115ft). Zalatoris hits twice as much curve and ends up only 9 yards shorter on the carry and basically in the same spot. Just goes to show, more horse power doesn't necessarily equal bigger hits.
