Unique Cake Decorating Idea | Reverse Cut Name!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There are a lot of ways to put names on cakes and this is a unique way to do it! I have been doing this reverse cut technique for a while now and I am going to teach you how it's done. This is just another way you can think outside the box when you are making a fondant name for cakes!
Font I used for the name - TIMES NEW ROMAN

I love all your videos and I am learning so much! But my favorite videos that you do are the ones where you talk about real life cake stories and share tips on how you handle customers, pricing, etc. I would love to hear about how you manage your decorating schedule, how many orders you take per week, when do you consider yourself “booked”, how far in advance you make cakes, fondant decorations, and what day you start decorating to ensure freshness, etc…stuff like that! Thanks for all you do to help other cake decorators!

Hi Karolyn! Your kakes are absolutely amazing! Thanks for your videos. This question has nothing to do with the video, but what tools do you use to calculate your cake costs? Ingredient cost, cost per hr, utilities, etc?

I am not sure if Karolyns Kakes knows this or not but.... You can use a portion of your utilities as a deduction for taxes. We do that at the family farm. They deduct half of the electric bill as a farm expense, because of the electric fence to keep cows in, the well runs on it and waters the cows and pecan trees. Got to find a good tax person to help you find all your deductions. Even miles driven for Deliveries and supplies. If using your personal vehicle to deliver cakes, the repairs and I believe even oil change and up keep are deductable. She has videos and print outs that you can use as a guide for pricing your cakes and explains how she charges.

@@pmc9927 I bake for fun family and friends, not a business... But I have learned a lot watching these videos. I also tried doing an online course on doing other people book keeping... I tell you what, find a good one that can help you not pick everything, you can use a bunch of stuff you probably haven't thought about yet. Even cakes you do as donations or give deduction on for charity. And Karolyns Kakes also explained in her videos on pricing, be sure to check with local bakeries and home bakers for what they would charge. You don't want to under price your cakes, but over pricing too much could cost you a sale as well. Her prices, are way to high for where I live, but I would imagine it would be much higher say in NYC or LA. I watch these videos as a relaxing Technic lol.... Watching the frosting smoothed, and the pipping, and fondant creations is relaxing to me. Lol so I go on KZread binge watching of cooking videos lol.

I believe this cake was 5" / 7" / 9" (feeds 50-60) Baked in 2" high pans. 2 layers per tier, torted into 4 thinner layers with 3 layers of filling in between. I hope that helps!

Ok, so I also watched the stencil video as well. But question??? The gold Bow? Did you use Rice Paper? Or is that actual Ribbon? I have been watching videos on working with rice paper, and Amazon said it would arrive yesterday, but then said not til next week... My cake is due Friday afternoon. So it looks like I am going to try using Fondant to make the roses for the cake. Lol wish me luck
