    Do you have another way that you like to make toppers like this? I'd love to know! I totally forgot to mention the reason I didn't put the skewers straight up into the N is because the N doesn't touch the cake and I didn't want the skewers to be visible. But if you don't care about that, you can just stick 2 skewers into the N and it will be much easier to put in the cake.

    Thank you for giving us so much detail on how you do this and letting us watch you at every step. That is so helpful! How do you take these videos and then edit them? Also, when I put toppers on, I put a little gel on the picks, which are pointing straight down and placed further in so they get pushed down closer to the middle of the cake. I use several picks, and put a little gel on the bottom of the topper itself so that it "glues" to the cake. So for this one, I'd put a pick into the right side of the O and push it further into the letter, then in the N, then in the E.

    OK that makes sense! I feel like every topper is going to be different depending on what part touches the cake and how much support you need. Usually if I have a skewer that shows, I'll add a little decoration to hide it! And I shoot with my iPhone 12 and edit with iMovie, all on my phone. I have a ring light that holds my phone and can move it to do overhead shots or whatnot. I don't have a MAC, so I can't edit on my computer. Gotta get one of those soon LOL

  • @KarolynsKakes

    @KarolynsKakes

    Hi Lynn! I make so much of it that it usually doesn't last too long. However, I believe it could last a month or longer if you store it correctly. I wrap mine up in plastic wrap and store it in a big lock and lock container. If you have to store it longer, I'd wrap it up a few times before putting it in an airtight container.

    Is this the same method you did for the number TW🍦 cake. Also when you cut it and has dirty ages is it because I didn’t wipe my exacto knife? Okay cos it because I don’t knead my fondant enough

  • @KarolynsKakes

    @KarolynsKakes

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yup! For the TWO, I printed out the word and an ice cream cone that was small enough to fit in the O. Traced it and cut it out. You could have issues with dirty edges if your fondant isn’t smooth as well as from not wiping the knife. And I just feel like no matter what, you’re going to have to smooth fondant pieces when you cut them. I’ve never cut Fondant that didn’t need a little smoothing!

    @@ODY0319 I believe CMC does stiffen up fondant similar to Tylose. I've never used it yet, so I'm not sure how much to use. But if you are using marshmallow fondant, after heating it up, add some powder, knead it together, and let it sit for a few minutes before using it. Sometimes (especially when I use black) I have to let it sit for about 10-15 minutes until it's ready to use. If I don't wait, there are holes and air pockets throughout and it just doesn't hold its shape.
