That stamp pad thing is actually quite brilliant. Not only accessing the size and shape of the foot, but it also seems to show where the pressure points of the weight distribution are on the foot too. So simple yet effective.

Afaik, there are also digitial/machine options for what the stamp pad does (measure pressure points, bow of the foot, width etc.). Though I assume other measurements of the top of the foot are not possible. Can totally see why a shoe maker might orefer the pad in their workflow though.

(there are no clips I could find of him actually finishing the boot, sorry). Ok this one's a bit niche again, but I enjoyed the measuring especially and the accent (might not be Russian). I admire people who are good at crafts, but to be honest this seems to be a VERY complicated way of making a boot - or am I wrong?

I've seen a couple of these videos (not just of making cowboy boots) and this generally seems the way to craft a bespoke shoe; made completely from scratch with the clients measurement, just like a bespoke suit. All the measuring is necessary to make the last, the wooden base around which the shoe is constructed, which in this case is unique for a particular client. Very labour intensive, and thus costly and indeed niche.
@deelirious

I enjoyed a lot the measuring part also. The other part blew my mind because I was trying to understand it and it went over my head, I have not real basis for this affirmation, but I believe that this must be the normal way to make the pattern for a bespoke boot. This things are usually that complicates, aren’t they?I thought he had a german accent, but I am not a native English speaker, so what do I know. Thanks for the videos, they are treasures.

Boots are sized differently than shoes because you have the shaft, so yeah, a bit more involved. Plus, even with rack shoes (and bras), nobody is the same size bilaterally. For instance, my husband can pretty much only wear boots because when he fell off a second story roof as a young man and shattered his ankle and foot, they permanently fixed it with his heel slightly raised, so the heel of a boot helps him a ton. Plus, because of that, his calf on that side is somewhat atrophied, so he has to consider his over calf more when choosing a boot shaft size, and also the fact that the bad ankle swells towards the end of the day. I hope he can make himself a pair of custom boots someday if only for comfort.
These are great! I have no idea where you keep finding these but they're actually better than most ASMR channels that I follow. Thanks a bunch.
